Laughing softly, Alairi shook her head and held up her hands in a sign of surrender.
"Well, since sporks trump spoons, I give in for now. And really? Do you realllly think having to give your friend there sponge baths and dress him and feed him day in and day out would be fun?"
Alairi had enough trouble taking care of a cat. She couldn't imagine anyone actually enjoying taking care of a human being like that. Still, Dem's remark gave her a tiny little mental needle to play with. Looking between the two with wide, almost innocent eyes, she couldn't resist a bit of teasing.
"Then again, as much as you two sound like a married couple, maybe he'd enjoy having you give him daily sponge baths."

'Z' choked on his ice-tea. "Don't.... even, go there." He said flushing deeply and coughing. "We're -ROOM MATES" he snapped as though that explained -everything- about how they acted.
"Humph... spork of peace..."

"Well, that stuff might not be fun, but I'd do it for my buddy!"
Demy moved back to a seat closer to Z, putting his arm around his little buddy.
"He needs help, I'm there for him man. We're roomies -and- best friends, right Z?"
The blonde grinned, not really pausing long enough to get his friend a chance to get a word in.
"And...married couple? Dude I'm not married..? Pretty sure Z isn't either? That'd be kinda weird dude. ...Wait...ARE you married?! You didn't invite me?!"
Demy gave his friend a look of surprise. Clearly the reference meant nothing to him.

Oh no... no. He couldn't be THAT dim, could he? Alairi wasn't certain. What she did know was that her face was going to be turning a delightful shade of purple if she choked on too much more laughter. Struggling to regain her composure, she attempted to help the other boy, Z?, out. Unworthy though he was of that help.
"It's.... heeeheeheehee, AHEM. A turn of phrase, AHAHAHAHAHA! Yes."
She couldn't help it, she put her face in her hands and roared with laughter. Between the blushing and the cluelessness, she had stumbled upon Comedy GOLD.

Zac's face deepened in redness... more so at her laughter.
"....no Dem, I'm not married. She's saying we -act- like we've been married for 30 or 40 years. That we are familiar with each other's nuances."
he was gripping the table with the arm around him like he was utterly unsure what to do next. Not unlike someone who's just had their personal space bubble invaded by an utter strangeror their first crush - without reason.

Demy kept one arm wrapped around Z, and his other hand rubbing at his chin in thought. Riiight. Um........sure okay whatever.
"..Nuances?"
Oh god he looked confused again. Good job Z!
"Riiight, so um....it's good, somehow? Like best friends should know each other...yeah?"
He wasn't getting it, and he was blissfully unaware that Z might in fact want him to let go. Oh well!

"Oh yes," Alairi agreed quickly, wondering how much longer she could milk this for her own jollies. "the very best of friends!"
Then again, if Z blushed any harder, either his head would pop off of his neck or he'd be bleeding through his pores. No, as much fun as this was, maybe she should attempt to earn a little gratitude.
"However, I think your friend might need some air. Perhaps you could back off of him for a few, let him get his compsure back. THe shade of purple he's turning isn't very becoming you know."

It wasn't so much the cry of 'PERSONAL SPACE' that made him let go as it was the promise of ice cream. Ice cream meant sprinkles. Rainbow sprinkles. This was awesome and enough to make him actually -listen- for once.
"Fineeee."
The blonde unwrapped himself from Z and finally started messing with his actual food. He was hungry, damnit, rainbow hair of AWESOME or not.
"Soooo....you are?"
He eyed the other, thankfully asking the question before digging into his burger.

Alairi finished her own meal before deciding to answer. It was only fair, after all given that she knew their names.
"Alairi MacDougall. Pleasure to meet you both, I'm sure," she replied somewhat primly. Just watching and listening to the both of them made her dizzy with supressed laughter. And she had a strong intuittion that Demy, at least, was either crazy or fruitier than Carmen Miranda's favorite hat. It would be interesting to find out which it was.
