Orpheus looked up from what he was working on and over at Ligeia who sat quietly on the floor with his crayons. He was working diligently at his homework that consisted of the coloring of the letters of the alphabet from A-Z. He would stop every now and again to assess his work, scree or mutter something, then go on back to work. It made the red haired adult wonder idly at what his son was thinking but he didn't want to interupt him. He was working so hard that it would be a shame to mess up his concentration.

It was a while later that Orpheus looked up again and over to where Ligeia had been then down and gave a jolt realizing that the boy was standing right next to him, "Erk... ah... well there went a couple years off of my life." He muttered then reached down to pat his son's head, "You done?" He asked giving a glance at the sheets of paper in the owl boy's grasp.

"Screeee-aaaah." He was told as Ligeia held out the papers, his eyes unwavering as he waited for them to be looked over and for Orpheus to tell him how he did.

"Lets see now." He murmured going through them, realizing after a moment that the owl had the pages in the correct order, "Not to shabby." He didn't color to bad for someone his age and for someone that had to wear gloves which had to limit his motor skills at least a little bit, he used a wide range of colors as well so it was hard to tell if Ligeia favored one over the other at this point.

"I like this one and this one." Orpheus said tapping the B then the T, "Because both of them are red."

Ligeia looked up at him then smiled reaching out to tap his finger against one of them, "C-eeeeee!"

He nodded, "Very good. That is a C." He praised his son, pleased how much he was learning so far, "So did you have fun in class? Did you like your teacher? The other students?"

He was given a long, drawn out stare before he looked down at the papers again, "C is for Coffeeeeeeeeeee!" He said then gave a flutter of his wings and shifted where he stood, talons tapping against the floor. It seemed as if that were that and he had no real desire to speak of anything else at the moment.

Orpheus looked over at the clock then at Ligeia, "Its getting late, no doubt dark out." He told him.

The papers were tossed up onto Orpheus's desk and the owl turned around and bolted for the door, standing in front of it and then gazing back at Orpheus with a look on his face that reminded the redhead of a puppy, "Give me a minute I need to grab my..."

He watched as the owl grabbed his boots by their laces and drug them over towards his father, wings flapping as if that would speed of the process of getting out of their rooms and out and about. The classroom would be so much fun now! It was always fun to play in with his father when it was night time because he could hide better and see everything more clearly when it was dark out.

Orpheus took his boots, pulled them on, and tied them tightly, "Gonna give me a chance this time?"

Ligeia gave him a look.

"I didn't think so. Good." He said then swept his son up letting the owl boy perch on his shoulder as they left their place and headed for Orpheus's classroom.

Hide and Seek

It was a game that Ligeia was great at when the lights were off, in fact this had to be his most favorite of all the games that could be played. Hide and Seek in the dark. He was hiding behind one of the many trees that decorated his father's classroom and he watched as the red haired man walked along the path trying to find the owl boy's hiding place.

"Gonna find you!" Orpheus called out into the darkness, trying to get a response from his son that would aid in the finding. He didn't have much of a chance if he didn't cheat like this. In the dark there was a low, muffled sound like Ligeia laughing but trying to smother the sounds with his gloved hands. Orpheus turned in that direction, "I think I know where you are."

Ligeia gave a squeak as he realized what his father was doing, his trick to win the game. He looked back and forth then up before he hopped up onto the tree and crawled up the side of it, the tilt of the tree making it easy to climb it with his bird talons. He walked out onto one of the branches and then ducked down.

"Ligeia?" Orpheus looked around the tree he had expected for him to be hiding near too, "Ligeia where are you?"

The owl boy's ear tufts fluttered a little bit then he opened up his wings, flapped them a couple times then jumped...

The sound that his father made was highly amusing, it was almost like a scream but it was one that was choked. He spun around in a few circles then looked over his shoulder and saw the owl boy hanging off of him, "L-Ligeia..." He said then shook his head, "Not funny." He said his heart racing and the boy started to scree and giggle.

Orpheus plopped down on his backside and shook his head, "Yeah, yeah. Laugh at me." He teased the boy as he let his heart and breathing slow down to a more normal pace, "I'm glad it was you that pounced me and not something else more scary."

Ligeia puffed up and gave his father a look as if to say, 'I AM scary! How dare you not notice!' Which got Orpheus laughing this time.

"Come on then. Shall we play some more? Or do we want to head back to our rooms?" He asked.

Ligeia tilted his head to the side, slipped off his father's back and bolted back into the darkness once again. Orpheus pushed to his feet and watched him until he was gone again and out of sight. He gave a smile then followed after him, "I guess that answers that." He laughed.

Numbers

Orpheus was covered in water when the two of them returned from playing their games. He had caught onto his father's tricks of cheating at the game they were playing and in the last round of the game he put the pool between himself and his father then scree'd. Needless to say that the redhead followed after the voice and fell in. The game had ended then, "I can't believe you tricked me like that." He said as he sat the boy down on his taloned feet, "I'm going to go and change. You behave until I get back alright? Sound good?"

Ligeia nodded his head then fluttered his wings before he walked over to where his crayons were sitting. He gave a sound as he sat down and then picked it up, looking it over. He had missed one of the papers? He ran a finger over it, numbers. He tapped against one of them getting a bit excited, "Eeeeeeeggs!" He said, wings flapping rapidly.

The trees made him think about the game he had played with his father and he looked towards the closed door Orpheus had gone through. He got up to his feet and then walked over to the door and looked up at it, "Screeeeeeeeee?"

"What is it Ligeia?" His father called out.

The owl boy started to knock on it harder, louder, "Scree Scree!"

Orpheus opened the door up and knelt down in front of him, "You alright?" He asked then gave a squeak as he was tackled and snuggled his father, "Ligeia?" He wasn't exactly sure what was going through the boy's mind but instead of trying to figure it out he wrapped his arms around him and stood up.

"Scree-a!" He said, pointing to the paper that was sitting on the floor with the crayons.

"Ohhh. I see. More homework huh?" He asked.

Ligeia gave a nod as they went over and sat down. He tapped one of his fingers against the trees. He felt a bit bad about tricking his father into falling into the water. It had been funny at the time that he had fallen for it but... now. He looked up at him watching his father's face. The man looked to have gotten over it, didn't even look mad. He wasn't sure if that made him feel more guilty or relieved.

"Want to finish this up before bed?" Orpheus asked him and Ligeia gave a nod. At least his father wasn't mad at him right?

The owl reached over and picked the red crayon and set to work on the last page.

*****

Orpheus had Ligeia craddled in one arm, avoiding the flapping wings of the flying owl child as he picked up the pile of crayons with his other hand. The numbers sheet was done as well as the letters. He gave a smile as he looked it over, "Your pretty good at your coloring aren't you?" He murmured. The box of crayons was set up on the table so that they wouldn't risk getting stepped on.

The numbers worksheet was put with the A-Z ones before he went to bring Ligeia to lay down on his bed to rest. The red head then went to work on the plans for the next class that he was to teach.

Orpheus was sitting down watching as Ligeia looked over the paper that they had gotten, he was pointing at the letters, telling his father what they were though as whole words the little owl couldn't yet read them, "L-Eeeetters?"

Orpheus nodded, "They are words too. This one is asking your name he said pointing at it."

Ligeia's wings fluttered a couple of times, "Lig-Eeeeia!" He said excitedly.

Orpheus laughed and got a pen and handed it to his son, then laid his hand over Ligeia's and helped to write out both Ligeia's first and last name, "This says Solon. This is the name that we both share." Orpheus explained.

Ligeia tilted his head to the side then smiled, his finger tip running over their last name.

"The next one is asking for your age. Do you know that one?"

Ligeia's wings fluffed up and he nodded, "Thr-Eeeeeeeee!"

Orpheus gave a little flinch at the response but he was used to the owl's shreiks, it was a natural sound for an owl to make so he couldn't fault him, "Good job." He said then helped him write it down the number.

"Let's see... Now your favorite colors."

Ligeia looked through his colors and picked two of them up to show to Orpheus, "Blue and black huh? Good colors." He said.

"Like r-Eeeed?"

His father nodded, "That one is my fav, but no doubt cause I see it so often." He lifted a hand to tug at a strand of his hair making Ligeia giggle, then the owl boy reached a gloved hand up to tug at his hair too.

The redhead smiled then helped for him to write down the names of the two colors that he liked in their respective color, "And last but not least it asks who your best friend is."

Ligeiawent quiet for a long moment, thinking on that one. He knew several of the other students, even liked them but they weren't his best friends as he didn't know them well enough. He looked up at Orpheus for a long moment, "Daddy." He told him after a moment's thought, smiling then cuddled against him.

Orpheus tilted his head to the side then gave a smile, "For now anyways. Pretty soon your gonna grow up on me and not like me anymore." He told him, "Especially when your a teenager. Thats just how it goes."

Ligeia giggled, "Like you now then." He told him then Orpheus helped him to write out the last thing on the paper.

"Alright. I will send this in in the morning. For now its time for bed."

Ligeia gave his dad a hug, hopped up, and headed for his room and his bed.

Orpheus read over the list then got up to his feet and it was put on the table before he checked the doors and headed to bed himself.

A Moment, Gloveless

Ligeia was sitting on the coffee table with his father sitting in front of him. It was time for the ritual that he really didn't enjoy nor did he feel like being a part of. Mostly he just didn't like to take off his gloves as he didn't want to wrisk hurting anyone when they were off. That was one of the reasons though that they did what they did. Orphues took off one of the gloves, got a nail file and clippers and set to work. The sharp tips of his talon like fingertips were removed then the flattened ends were filed off to blunt ends leaving them in a less dangerous state, "Hows that feel?" He asked his son. The boy flexed his hand a couple times then looked it over before tapping it against his arm pleased looking when it didn't cut him.

The little owl nodded his head, his wings fluttering, "Is good." He said flexing his hand again before pointing at his glove.

The red head looked at the glove, about to say something before he instead reached over and picked it up so that he owl could push his hand into it, "There ya go. Now for the other one." He said and repeated the process for the second hand. "You know that you don't need to wear those." It was Ligeia's choice though, he wore his gloves at all time aside from when his talons were trimmed or during a bath and had since he was even younger then he was now. The young owl had accidently hurt Orpheus with his sharp little nails and the sight of his father's blood wasn't something that he would soon forget or forgive himself of.

The boy gave a little shake of his head and looked away in a way that Orpheus knew meant that he didn't want to talk about it.

"Alright well just so that you know." He said then helped him to get on the second glove, "How's that?"

"Good." He repeated as he fleched his hands and then tightened his hands into fists before letting his arms swing at his side, "Is good." He hopped up onto the table, then off of it wings flapping. He was able to stay up in the air a split second longer then he would have been able to had he lacked his wings and it seemed that it was something he was quite proud of. He spun around to face his father and gave a smile, wings flutter, "You s-Eeeeeeeeeeeeeee?"

Orpheus didn't even flitch as the word drew out into a shreik as it meant that he was rather excited about his accomplishment, "That was very good, pretty soon your going to be flying circles around me." He told his son scooping him up and held him up into the air. Ligeia gave a happy sound, wings flapping as his father helped him to 'fly' around the room.

Frosty Eggy

Went ta cee eggs today. Saw mine. Waz soooo pretty! The prettiest, bestest egg in the whole place! Though everyone elsez eggz were very nice too. 'specially the leviathan cuz you could see the baby through the egg! My egg was in a snowee sort of nest so I seemed ta be the only one that could go close to it. I didn't think waz cold at all but thats cause I am a Snowee Owel maybe? At least that is what Daddy sayz.

I have gotten lots and lotsa books from the library ta read over. With Daddy's help I am slowly getting good at my readings 'n writin. We practice every night between him plannin his classes and him helping me try ta learn ta use my wings. Which sadly still aren't quite readee ta carry me I dun think.

I didn't want ta leave my Eggy behind. Won't it be lonely? All by itself in the snow nest? I hope not. Guess will see it soon though. Until then gotta reed up about them, be ready for when Eggy hatches. Daddy referred to the baby as a 'Dragon Pup' on the way back from seein it. Thatsa funny term for it but I like it. Like a puppy dog but a Dragon pup. Hehe

Well Daddy iz saying that its time for me ta go ta get ready for bed. Gots ta brush my teeths, tie back my hair, and trim my nails back.

Will do another entry again soon, Ligeia

Ligeia looked down at the paper, it all looked spelled right to him, kinda messy though. Maybe next time he would do it with a pen instead of with a marker? Then again pen colors weren't as pretty as marker colors. He put the cap on the bright blue marker and tossed it to land on the paper he had just been writing on then hurried over to where his father was waiting for him.

Frost and Diamonds

It seemed that ever since they had gotten back from the labs that the owl boy had himself buried in books. He was reading up on everything that he could get ahold of to learn about his dragon, a frost dragon! He was quite excited though he was contantly dragging his books over to his father when he found what he was looking for so that Orpheus could read to him the passages that he found about his dragon. It seemed that he learned better when things were read to him as opposed to learny when he read them himself.

"Ah!" Ligeia hopped up into his father's lap with a flap of his wings and landed on him with a big tome in his arms, "Ah? R-Eeeeead!" He said, excitedly.

The redhead couldn't help but laugh as Ligeia sat down on his lap and opened up the big book to the section that he had found and read it over once himself then gave a laugh, "Is that so? Well unless we learn how to be gem theives I don't know how we can do that." He said which made the boy give a sad little sound, "Your young yet Ligeia and have no idea about these things. Such stones, these Diamonds that they talk about are really expensive."

Ligeia looked down at the words on the page, scanning them several times before they made sense and he gave a sigh, if one stone was so expensive then how much would a nest of them cost? It said that Frost Dragons loved Diamonds and that they loved to nest in them...

"Maybe your dragon will know how to get ahold of them if they like them so much?" He suggested with seeemed to perk Ligeia up a little. Hmm. His dragon know how to hunt down the elusive and expensive gems? That would be interesting to see. He wondered if that meant that the dragon would end up with a nest of the expensive stones.

"I wonder...."

"About what?" Orpheus asked watching the boy close the book and go to set it with the others.

"If Eggy give me a gem." He would love to have one if they were so valuble, he could sell it then get all sorts of cool things for his dragon and for his daddy! That would be so wonderful!

Orpheus couldn't help but laugh, "I don't know. It sounds like the Frost Dragons horde them something crazy so you may have a hard time talking your dragon into giving up one of its shinies to you."

Ligeia nodded, he supposed that he would have to wait and see, would have to ask his dragon about it when it was born. Until then he would continue his studies on them.

Frozen Fish Sticks And...

Ligeia was still at it and it was something that Orpheus had to admit that he admired in the boy. He had decided that he wanted to learn all that he could about his dragon and he was digging through tome after tome to try to find even the smallest amount of information on the breed that he had been given. The Frost Dragon it seemed had a lot of stuff to read up on and learn, "Here you go." He said, setting a plate of food in front of the boy. Ligeia reached over without taking his eyes off a picture that he had found, picked up a fry, and popped it into his mouth, "Find anything interesting in that book of yours?"

Ligeia lifted his gaze then looked first to Orpheus then to what he was eating, "Dragon would like th-Eeeeese?" He asked pointing at one of the fish sticks.

Orpheus tilted his head to the side then gave a bit of a laugh, "I have no idea. I guess we will have to look up what they eat now won't we?"

Ligeia flipped back a couple of pages and pointed at it, "Ah." He tapped a gloved finger against the page drawing his attention to it. Orpheus looked the page over then gave a bit of a laugh.

"Ohhh. I see what you mean now. Maybe they would like them." He said, it said that Frost Dragon's enjoyed frozen foods. And as the fish sticks came in a frozen brick that one had to break apart and cook... well they might like them. One never knew huh? "I guess that is something else that we will have to wait and ask the dragon about when its born now won't we?"

The owl boy gave a little nod then picked up a fish stick and popped it into his mouth and started to chew on it. He wouldn't mind sharing his fish sticks with the dragon or really anything else either. He was still wondering though about how he was going to get his hands on a diamond for the dragon but he figured that was a thing he was going to have to wait for until later. Maybe when he was older and could work to get some money? Then he would have the cash to buy one of the stones for his dragon if the dragon couldn't find them on its own as Orpheus thought that it might be able too.

Orpheus reached over to tap his finger against the boy's head making him look up, "Your doing well you know, looking up all of this stuff so that you can learn more about your Dragon-Partner." He told his son then knelt down and looked at the book he was gazing at, "Ahh. Look at this guy." He murmured tapping the picture of a frost dragon that was drawn out next to a descriptive paragraph, "All sorts of icy decorations, and that color of blue." He murmured then gave a laugh, "You like blue don't you?"

Ligeia gave a little laugh and nodded his head, a little excited, "S-Eeeee Eggy again soon?" He asked.

"Once I get my next class schedule planned out we can see about going and looking at your egg yes." He told him. He wondered if the draclings could sense the the children outside of their eggs? Would they know who their partner was or would it be like with birds that they had to be there when they creature hatched so that they would know them? Imprinting he thought that it was called. More stuff that they would have to study before the baby arrived he was sure.

Ligeia nodded then turned back to his book and ran a gloved hand over the picture, smiling. His dragon... it would be beautiful if it looked like the one in the picture even if it weren't blue. There were a few other colors that there were as well, pink, white, lavender, or really rare cases of an icy green color, "Will be pr-Eeeetty." He said to his father then went to flipping through the books again, engrossed in the learning that the pages offered to him.

Orpheus's Thoughts

I'm sitting here, watching as Ligeia sleeps on one of his books and I can't help but think about what he has been asking me about. I wonder if this is partially why I was accepted on as a teacher here despite the fact that I am no teacher and have no degrees in that area. Ligeia wants a diamond to give to his dragon when its born, has been talking about all of the books that referred to them being head over heels for the expensive white gems. Odd I think and a little ironic to have a child asking his father who hapeens to be an ex-jewel theif for such a thing.

So here I am. Sitting here and wondering on that, it wouldn't be all that hard to get him one. In fact that was always just a game to me. I never wanted the gems myself they were always given over to my partner. No its the rush and the thrill of breaking into a place, taking something, then escaping without leaving behind a clue as to who I am. All that was left behind was a calling card. A little business card that said 'You've Been Had By Legend' and that was it. The nickname Legend having come from the fact that my first name came from a Greek Myth. I wonder if I would get in trouble if I did that again? If I were to go out and fetch my son a diamond to give to his dragon would the Boss have words with me? Or would be not even care. Maybe that is why I am here?

I suppose we are going to find out because I saw a jewel in the paper that is perfect and its coming to a town not far from here to be on display for a while. 'For a limited time come see the rare 'Dragon's Eye Diamond' they don't know how limited its time is do they? Because not to long after it arrives there its going to be in my possession to be given to Ligeia so that he can present it to his Frost Dragon upon its birth.

- Orpheus

The redhaired teacher got up to his feet, scooping his son up into his arms to bring him to his bed. Ligeia was tucked in before he headed to his computer to find the lay out of the museum and started to map out his plan. Its to bad his partner wasn't around. With help this would be the easiest mission ever. Hmm... though... it wouldn't be to hard. One just had to make sure his partner ended up affliated with D-Corp... a Parent perhaps?

He gave a little smile as he thought on that plan as well...

Death Defying Heights... Ok Not Really... >_>

He was pacing back and forth looking down off of the perch he had taken for himself. He stretched his wings out, flapped them, then bounced the other way across the perch. This was it, it was time to go, time to jump. He was gonna jump now then he was gonna take to the air, was gonna fly! He bounced again to the edge looking down, it was do or die time! He stretched his wings out again completely then jumped...

He flapped his wings a couple times, his wings held him up for only a moment though, it was a moment longer then the last time he had tried this, before he was falling... the couple feet to the floor. He landed on his feet and then fluttered his wings, ok. He was gonna have to try that one again.

Half a dozen times later Orpheus looked over from what he was doing and shook his head, "Hey! Ligeia! No more jumping off the back of the couch." He called over to his son, "Gonna land on your head." The last bit was muttered so that the boy couldn't hear it.

The boy looked over at him with his big, dark eyes then tilted his head to the side, "Hmm?"

"I will bring you to the classroom if you want to stretch your wings." He told him as he closed the notebook he was working in.

"That l-Eeeesson?" He asked hopping over towards his father, wings flapping as he tried to use the bouncing and flapping to add most strength to his wings. That came before they were actually able to carry him, they would have to have the strength to do that. He hopped up as his father got to his feet to catch hold of his arm and smiled up at him as he hung off.

"Your getting bigger." Orpheus told him as he lifted arm and in turn lifted his child up higher off of the floor. It seemed as if he were avoiding the owl boy's question but it Ligeia noticed that he didn't show it finding to much fun in what his father was doing. The boy gave a little giggle, swinging on the arm before he let go to land easily on his feet.

"Go play now?" He asked.

Orpheus picked up his notebook and tucked it away in the top drawer of his desk, "Sure. Lets go do that. We can practice the wing lessons with you and maybe soon we can have a class for the rare winged students." He told him and took one of his gloved hands before heading out of their rooms and headed for the classroom.

Ligeia took on a look of interest, there were other winged children? He wondered who they were and if he was gonna get to meet them.
