Still catching her breath, she panted out in a tiny voice "Yeah... just tired..." She remained in place for a bit before she continued to work on completing her task. On her knees, she began to crawl part way out on the branch, so that these ropes wouldn't be immediately next to the tree. Each movement she made, she could feel the rough bark trying to scrape up her knees through the thin material the pants were made of.

Once out far enough (at least, what she thought was far enough), she straddled the branch in a fashion similar to how you'd ride a horse. It was probably the safest way to stay on that branch, since if she accidentally fell, she had more of a chance of her legs grabbing on than if she had been sitting "side saddle" position. When she felt in place, she pulled out the ropes from her pants, one at a time. She made certain to hold onto it tightly so that it didn't accidentally fall to the ground. Last thing she wanted to do was do this climbing thing all over again.

Quickly, but efficiently, she began to feed the rope over the branch so that both ends would eventually be dangling at about the same height at ground level.

"I-is... is that okay?" she squeaked out uncertainly, attempting to judge as best as possible from where she was at.

Avalon clapped her hands and Yvette hung the ropes just so over the branch.

"That is perfect!" She singsonged going to and grasping a hold of the ends of the rope. She knotted them, all four ends, in some crazy, non-experienced, tangle, creating a triangular shape to secure the swing. Hopefully that will hold...

Then, she took the 2x4 that had been lying on the ground and slid it into the loops of the rope having it sit on the messy knot. The edges of the wood extended far out of the loops and Avalon was sure as soon as she attempted to swing on that, she would die. She disassembled the knot and board, leaving the ends of the rope to swing freely.

She sighed and looked up at Yvette.

"Have you ever made a swing before?" She asked sheepishly.

Yvette was now a bird. She was certain of it. Or at least, she felt she should have been. Or maybe a squirrel, since they had to climb trees, rather than doing as birds did, which was fly into trees. Either way, she was starting to feel a bit uncomfortable about where she was at. And her arm was still stinging something fierce.

However, the dark haired girl now in the tree was never the type to complain. Or voice her opinion in a strong fashion. She was the type that let people usually walk all over her, especially since she couldn't speak up with all the uncertainties lingering through her mind. From where she was at, she watched Avalon as she attempted to assemble the ropes and wood together.

Ah... so she was trying to make a swing! she mentally exclaimed, noting all of her wrong conclusions, but circling on that mental test sheet that this was indeed the correct answer of the batch.

"...um... no... sorry!" she squeaked out honestly when asked about building swings in the past. If she had even an ounce more bravery in her, she might have asked about getting out of the tree.

"Oh." Avvie sighed in response to Yvette's lack of swing making experience. She set back on her butt cross-legged and stared up at Yvette.

Avalon blinked her eyes at the other girl a few times, a pensive expression on her face, then she looked at the ropes. To the 2x4 board. To the ropes. Back to Yvette. Gears turning in her brain the whole time. She would figure this out.

"UGH!" Avvie whined and threw her hands up in defeat. ".... I just want to swing..." Her fists hit the ground, hard enough to leave an indent.

Avalon popped up, mood changed. "I GOT IT!" She looked up at Yvette.

"Do you have a drill?" Avvie laughed at the random question. But she would need the tool to complete her swing.

She sat patiently. Ever so patiently in the tree. That was about all she could do until she was told it was okay to get out of the tree. Yvette knew the minute she got out of the tree without permission, her companion would come up with a new task for her to work on that required her to be in the tree.

And then, Avalon asked that question.

"No..." was her relatively flat answer. Did Yvette look like the type of girl to have a drill? Or better yet, even if Yvette had a drill, she still wouldn't have been very prone to lending it off easily. Some bad habits were hard to break.

"Oh..." The answer seemed to be growing common for Avalon. She kept her eyes on Yvette, wheels turning. She would really like to go and look for a drill. Maybe one of the janitor's closets had one. Janitor's used tools sometimes, right?

But, Avvie did not want to go venture back into the school alone with Yvette in the tree... stuck? The buddy system was always best, it was a rule Avvie had learned a long time ago on a field trip in first grade, but that was a completely other story... How was Yvette going to get down from the tree? That was the problem at hand. Get Yvette down, then find a drill, building the swing, and then maybe story time.

Avalon tied the ropes up again so they did not slip over the branch with a gust of wind. This time she was a little more caring in her procedure, she took time to knot the ropes individually, then to loop them together and tie them to each other. Content with her handiwork, she looked at Yvette again.

"Want to go inside with me to find a drill?" Avvie asked. "I bet the Janitor will have one." She beamed for a second, then frowned, hands on hips.

"How are you getting down?"

"A-a-actually..." Her voice seemed a bit hesitant. "I-i should probably head back to my room and get a bit cleaned up..." Not wanting to seem like she was dodging out for no real reason, she thrust her wound forward, her scraped up arm, dark red and somewhat raw in certain places.

After showing off her perfectly legitimate reason, she unstraddled the tree branch carefully. She didn't quite answer the question, but leaned down and hugged onto the branch. Very slowly, she began to ease herself around, letting her body start to dangle off the tree. Her feet began to search for a holding, eventually finding her heels firmly pressing against the bark of the tree.

Her heart started to beat faster as she semi-dangled there, about to jump maybe 4 feet total off the tree. Logically, she was telling herself that she made up a majority of the drop due to her 5 or so feet of height.

Just let go, and you'll be fine she attempted to reassure herself while the beating of her heart seemed to pound in her ears.

"OH!" Avalon fell back at the site of Yvette's arm. She never had made a sound when she got scraped, Avvie had no clue. She would have cried out herself. Then, Yvette started dangling from the tree.

Was she insane? She was worried over a scrape and getting it cleaned... which was certainly the right thing to do, hydrogen peroxide, neosporine, and cute animal band-aids were definitely an abrasion's best friend. Avalon actually had all of that in her room... what she did not have was a soft landing for Yvette.

"What are you doing?" Avalon cried. Yvette would hurt herself worse than a scrape if she fell down from there.

Her dark hair was getting mildly in her face as she semi-dangled there. She squeaked as the other girl seemed to react (appropriately) to how Yvette was getting out of the tree. Yet, it couldn't stop her from doing what she needed to.

Okay, count of 3... 1, 2, 3!

Letting her hands release from the branch, the girl readied herself for a landing on her feet. With a heavy "THUMP," she landed on her feet, feeling a very tingly sensation down her spine upon impact. Okay, that was a bad idea!

"See... not a problem..." her voice managed to chirp out as she forced a small smile. Straightening up as best as she could, she waved to Avalon and began to walk.

"I guess I'll see you around, Avalon?" she said as she began to depart.

Avalon winced at the fall from the tree. The impact was loud, Avvie almost felt it in her own feet. She could only imagine what the shock of it all felt like... Yvette kept herself so poised!

Watching Yvette retreat, all Avvie could do was wave and let out a little, "Yeah. Definitely."

She wanted to chase after the girl. Cry out that she had cute critter covered band-aids and made an excellent nurse. But she held herself back. She had put Yvette through enough, even though it was Yvette's idea to climb the tree herself. But, Avvie couldn't help but feel bad for the scrapes and bruises the other girl received all on Avalon's behalf.

"Bye Yvette. I hope your arm is OK!" Avalon called before Yvette could make it into the building. She waved manically and made a mental note to find out where Yvette's room was to drop off a feel better-thank you present.... and a marker.

Now, she needed a drill.... this swing would be completed!
