Lulu didn't like that look. Even Soro hadn't hit her yet. Soon though. Soon. She cocked an eyebrow as he approached and stood her ground. There was no way she was going to back away? She winced as he hit her. She snarled but didn't attack back. She was so angry and confused and afraid that if she rebuked him, Soro would get ear of it. And she'd pay. "No... I can't just DIE GRENDEL!" She shouted, her purple eyes blazing. "That isn't how THINGS WORK!"

Grendel bared his baby teeth, fur bristling. “Yes it is! That’s – that’s the rule! I’m the hunter, you’re the hunted and you have to die! Now LIE DOWN!”

Lulu was about to just freak out. She stomped her foot, eyes narrowed and nostrils flaring. She was bigger than him. Stronger than him. Smarter! She hated this. She spat at him. "No!" She said sternly. She lifted her chin and narrowed her eyes.

Enraged Grendel struck her again. He could not allow her to defy him. To be defied by a female was to become worse than a female. Grendel had spoken with his father about females. He knew Soro wouldn’t love him if he let Lulu get the better of him. He struck her once more, claws out, panting from exertion. “I said LIE DOWN! LIE DOWN YOU STUPID b***h! That’s an ORDER, DAMNIT!”
Grendel didn’t want to be a female in his father’s eyes. He didn’t want to be weak. If he ever became weak he couldn’t stand it. He wouldn’t want to live if he had to be weak.

Lulu yowled as he hit her again. This was useless. This was hopeless. She was doomed to forever be a slave to this male and his cubs. She growled, taking a few steps back. Damn this boy. Damn everyone. She started to cry a bit, while she finally gave in. Like a good girl. She lay down, then flopped onto her side. She wouldn't speak to him.

Grendel put his forepaws on her side, like a lion preparing to devour a kill. He stared into her traitorous purple eyes. Her face blurred. She looked like an albino fish seen through the surface of a lake with scales cold and slippery, a toothless mouth and soulless eyes. Rage shook him. He wanted to hit her again, make her face as black and ugly as her heart, but his legs were tired now and his heart was angry and confused with itself. He put his paw on her throat and moved it across her jugular. In his mind he imagined opening the vein and watching the blood spill out over the grass. He croaked, “You’re dead.”
Then Grendel backed away. He stood a few feet away, glaring at her with his father’s eyes, straining to hold back his tears. He could hardly bare the sight of her. He went over to where the skull had landed and picked it up by one of the horns. He bounded deeper into the jungle, dragging the skull along with him. He couldn’t go back to the den with tears in his eyes. He needed to be alone.

Lulu simply lay there, ignoring him. Ignoring his cruelty and hate. She wished he would kill her so she could go back to her Mom and Moray. She wished she could be by her brother. She wished she could just go home. She stayed laying down as he left and didn't move. She didn't want to go back to see how Soro would treat her after this little game.
