I think it depends. Those of us who are spiritually connected, and can use magic to a certain degree, i.e. being able to dreamphase and the like, could more then likely handle the ability to use magic. We are already used to the supernatural, so such things wouldnt even be much of a problem for us.
Those in the rest of the world, however, absolutely not. The humans of today have their own "magic" in the form of technology, and look at the world. People killing each other with guns all the time, bombing each other, threatening each other with nukes? No way the rest of mankind can handle something that is quite possibly an overflowing well of power.
Magic should be like a special talent, given only to those with the mind set, maturity, and the ability to possess and use it to better others.
