Well, damn. He hadn't been expecting to hear that something was wrong with his soul. That certainly wasn't an area he could outdo the goddess of souls on, so he looked at her warily. He was determined not to acknowledge Dalila now, though. He hadn't decided how he felt about being tricked but he was.. curious. And since it wasn't Dalila who could fix it, he didn't have to pay any attention to her! Right?
"How does something go wrong with your soul?" he asked skeptically, "Wouldn't I be able to tell?"
Mtima looked sympathetically to her daughter when she realized that the other god was ignoring her. She nodded to Dalila and turned back to Uhai since he was the one who needed the help.
"There are several things that can harm your soul, the most common being a god," she explained vaguely, walking a circle around Uhai thoughtfully, "Since you're a god yourself, I'd say that is the most likely culprit. Which may make it harder for me to heal the damage, but I should be able to do it. If it works, nothing may really change but if Dalila is right about your memories, they may return. Or perhaps be able to return."
She smiled at Dali encouragingly, closing her eyes and circling Uhai again. How to go about this?

The pale blue lioness' face wrinkled as she stared from god to goddess, at her mother's nod Dalila backed off, taking a step away from the two and sat down staring intently at her mother. Mom's can fix everything and anything, all of her knowledge from past lives told her differently; but she wanted so very much for Uhai to be cured and for everything to work out the way it was supposed to-- or at least the way she felt it was supposed to.
How could he trust me again? Why would he? She looked at him and her heart pounded and her emotions felt like they'd tare her apart.
"I can try to return them..after..if he-you," she spoke softly to both of them, looking at the ground so she didn't have make eye contact.

Uhai watched Mtima circle him, not liking the action though it was fairly obvious she wasn't being aggressive- and even if she was, he was larger and stronger than her so it wasn't really important. He looked at Dali when she said she could try to return his memories but then he looked back to Mtima. He was skeptical and he was annoyed.
"Go ahead, then," he challenged the soul goddess.
Mtima shook her head at the attitude Uhai had but smiled reassuringly at Dali. She could fix this, everything would be fine. If nothing else, her own job would be done and then Dali would deal with the results however she could.
"OK, sit still," she said, looking back to Uhai, pausing in front of him. She went quiet, closing her eyes. She didn't use magic a lot but she knew what to do for her own purposes. After a moment she began to circle around him again. Not a minute later, Mtima took a deep breath- holding it for a second as her eyes opened again, glowing faintly- and then with a smile, she sighed and the glow faded from her eyes. It wouldn't be physically visible but she knew she had done it.
"There," she said.
Uhai humored the lioness, sitting perfectly still and staring at the ground instead of watching her as she circled. He couldn't help but let his mind wander, though, wondering if she was really doing anything. Partway through, his fur seemed to stand on end and he felt a chill but it was just as easy to attribute it to being watched and "healed" .. and annoyance.
"Nothing happened," he said, almost triumphantly.
"I don't know about that," Mtima responded, not at all surprised by his reaction. She looked to Dali with a smile and nodded toward him. It was her turn.

Dali felt for a moment that Mtima was the hunter and Uhai the prey the way the goddess circled the predator. She tilted her head curiously, never having seen her mother preform any form of magic she was intrigued. After Mtima was apparently done Dali felt oddly disappointed, disappointed at the anticlimactic conclusion.
There? That's it? Dalila couldn't feel souls and didn't see anything visibly different. She expected something visible, the ability to tell that he was fixed, better some way.
"There's one way to prove it...I can bring back your memories, if your soul was what prevented them in the first place," she bobbed her head in agreement with her statement and walked back toward them.
Dalila'abadi closed her golden eyes and inhaled slowly, she could feel the tug of remembrance, of being lost in an ocean of memories and emotions as she cleared her mind and pushed her own thoughts away. She wanted to bring back his memories and his alone. She pulled and tugged mentally until the memories formed together, what she wanted him to remember..everything about his last lifetime and the ability to access any past memory beyond that. Her eyes flew open as she felt them, his memories, she hadn't been able to find them before.
An audible POP! could be heard as his memories returned, he had the ability to remember now..at least she thought he did, she wasn't able to pull anything forward the last time she tried. They were further than before and that was a start.
"There," she said, looking at him closely.

"There," Uhai repeated disdainfully, he certainly didn't feel any different. Slowly that changed, though. Whatever had been preventing recall before was gone, his memory was restored-- and it was an overwhelming, almost dizzy feeling. Luckily, he was already sitting but his front legs spread apart a bit more to steady himself.
"What-" he blinked, not still not quite able to control himself or quite describe what he was feeling as he remembered things he had forgotten long, long ago. Things he had relearned more than ones. People he had relearned more than once. Dali.
Mtima stepped back, watching Dali work with a small smile. Uhai didn't object, he was still skeptical. It was quite the difference in Uhai when Dali finished, Mtima could see it in his soul though the others wouldn't have seen it. But now her job was done, she didn't have to say anything, didn't get to say anything.
Suddenly she looked over her shoulder. Something was wrong.. something..
"Dali," she said, her eyes not returning to the two before her, "I have to go- it worked, he'll be all right." She couldn't leave without some reassurance to her daughter, but once she spoke she turned around completely and took off in flight. It was the easier of two magics, between flight and teleportation, she could handle flight best now.

Dalila had seen that look more than a few times, disorientation was a common factor in returning memories, especially in other gods, they had a lot more to remember than a mortal.
Mtima's abrupt decision that she had to leave forced the goddess' eyes away from Uhai and she looked at Mtima worried. "Mom?" she watched her mother leave, "Thanks for..you know.." She muttered, knowing Mtima could not hear her. Dali decided she would have to thank her officially when she saw her next. It wasn't like Mtima to leave so suddenly, not at all. There was nothing she could do now to find out what was happening with the Goddess of Souls, she could however deal with what was happening to the god before her.
Mom's make everything okay, everything is okay.
"Uhai?" she asked slowly, "how are you feeling? I know it must be hard to take in all at once.." she stepped closer to him in case he needed to lean.
"I'm sorry that I tricked you.." Is he remembering me? Us?

Mtima was gone but Uhai didn't realize it, he barely realized that Dali was still there. He sat completely still for several minutes before blinking a couple times and testing his vision- and then his balance. He got up and when he turned and saw Dali again, he nearly jumped out of his skin.
"I have to go," he said simply, sounding more panicked than angry. He didn't give her any other warning or any time to say anything, he had to leave, he had to sort through everything that just happened, everything he remembered and the painful headache he now suffered. With a pop, he teleported away to find some peace and quiet to figure things out.

"Go? I--" She stopped speaking he was already gone. "Really? Both of you leave at once, really?" She needed some help to sort through her feelings, Uhai knew now, there was no hiding this, and Mtima? She had met Uhai...and helped..and run off? Why did she leave so abruptly? Was it something that happened?
The Goddess of Remembrance rolled over what just happened in her mind, she didn't think she'd done anything too terrible, she'd tricked Uhai..but Mtima hadn't seemed mad about that. And..well Uhai..she expected him to be a little overwhelmed..but to leave so abruptly.
Dalila felt like screaming, felt like throwing a fit, and for the moment felt like forgetting, and there was only one place she could do that..she had some of Mneme's dust stored away in a tree hollow. Making up her mind Dalila jumped into the air taking flight. Restoring memories took energy mixed with Dalila's inability to teleport safely, the best route was to fly. S
he could forget..just for a moment..everything and that seemed alright to her..just this once, just now.
