"Personally, I prefer platinum, but gold works in a pinch." Yes, the two were different colors entirely, but she really just wore them for the value. Tone wise though, she preferred gold.
She reached to a piece that was slightly above her head, standing on the tips of her toes. It was a silver (or at least silver plated) necklace. The pendant on it was round with the silver part of it in the shape of a crescent moon, and the rest a glossy black. It had a short, thin chain, which made it look dainty and ladylike.
Mili looked at it for a moment in her hands; she liked it. Now to see if Melody did. "Here, try this on," she said, "Turn around and I'll put it on you."
She brushed the other girl's flowing blonde locks out of the way, and looped the necklace around her neck. After futzing with the clasp for a moment, she released the necklace and stepped back. "What do you think?"

She giggled softly, a hand coming up to cover her mouth. "Platinum is different from gold, though pretty as well. Silver has just always struck me as my favourite and I only go to platinum or white gold if I can't find anything else."
Mili was quite adorable in her own way and she seemed to force more of an openness from Melody. Which the tan girl didn't seem to mind at all. And, in fact, she found herself rather enjoying this shopping spree with the other's company. Which was odd as Melody wasn't found of shopping that much to begin with.
While not absent minded or really one to get lost in her thoughts, the ganguro girl found herself pulled out of her thoughts when she felt Mili's hands moving her hair then slipping something on around her neck. And it was then that her eyes were drawn to the mirror and the necklace that had been placed on her. Delicate looking fingers rose to lightly touch it.
"It's quite lovely. I adore it."

"Good!" Mili said, very happy that she had once again used her keen fashion skills to pick out a perfect piece. As bitchy, mean, and horrible as she could be sometimes, Mili still took great pleasure in helping other girls have an enjoyable shopping experience. It was like her heart would occasionally grow three times it size.
Pleasurable to say the least.
She took the tan girl's hand, and lead her up to the counter, where Mili again vied for the clerk's attention. "Miss? MISS! *cough* We are ready to check out now," she demanded.
The woman gave her a decisively annoyed scowl, and replied in an obviously fake tone, "Can I help you with anything?"
"Yes." Mili replied, "I'll take that necklace with the large stone that's in the display case, and I'll be paying for the one the girl next to me is wearing." She took out her credit card and set in on the counter while the woman took out the necklace, and then rang everything through the computer. Mili wasn't really paying attention when the total was said, mostly because she had enough money and didn't have to worry about it, and just motioned to her credit card.

Having taken the necklace off so it could be rung up, Melody blinked in surprise as color ran to her dark cheeks. She was going to be buying it for her? She really didn't have to...
Coming to stand once again by Mili, the tan girl really wanted to argue but it was a few moments too late. So, instead, she put a gentle hand on the other girl's arm.
"You really didn't have to pay for it," she murmured softly, her tone thankful and very much surprised. She wasn't going to knock a gift, but she really didn't have to buy it for her.

"Well really," Mili said, her tone hardening, "I may have bought it for you, but really I bought it for you so I could enjoy giving it. See? Purely selfish motive." She turned her head upwards, and kind off looked off while talking. Okay, that was only partly true. It did make her feel better about herself to buy things for other people, but she also sometimes enjoyed making others happy.
Only sometimes though. Couldn't have the word about that get out. Mili had a reputation to protect.
"But you're welcome."

But Melody knew better and only smiled in reply. She knew better to think that her words were meant purely in the harsh tone that had been said. But who was she, the kind, compassionate and pacifistic person that she was, to argue?
"Thank you very much, Mili," the girl responded with such joy in her voice. "I will treasure the necklace."
And, with that, she leaned foreword to hug on the girl. Just because she understood people didn't mean she couldn't play with them a bit. besides, who was she to turn down the urge to hug people? Every one enjoyed hugs and the situation seemed to call for it. Mili would forgive her one day, surely.

Mili didn't mind hugs. Really, she didn't. Just sometimes... sometimes, it was a bit of a personal space issue, and she had just met this girl. She cringed a bit, but probably had it coming.
She pushed herself off of the over affectionate girl, and gave a half-smile, "It was nice meeting you Melody. Hopefully our paths will cross soon. If not, I hope to see you at prom."
And without much other formality, she grabbed the bag her necklace was in, and walked toward the door.

She wasn't over affectionate but knew she had the pushing away from coming as she had just hugged a girl she had just met with out even asking. Such was the gift of understanding, that came with her compassionate nature. She didn't have much time to say good bye as Mili said her farwells and left.
Taking her own bag once the other was gone, she bid the sales person good bye (after offering an apology for the other girl) and left. Which reminded her she still needed to replace some of her other jewelery and so she went back in search of other stores that carried what she needed. She hoped she'd see the other girl before prom but chances are she wouldn't. Which was fine, perhaps prom would be a better meeting place.
Turning her ipod back on, Melody hummed and danced down the halls of the mall, holding the bag that held the necklace picked out for her. Guess now she had to find a way to go to prom. Wouldn't her mother be pleased.
