Faili nosed along at the thick portion, that delicious, mouth watering scent once again. It was different to the lettuce, and as she was tempted to take another nibble of this new stuff, a strange smell became apparant. Something else, something knew. It didn't smell as tasty and she grew wary, backing away from the bush into cover as her senses were on full alert. She suddenly didn't like this new foliage very much, it seemed much too risky.

Taxus continued to edge along between the first and second rows of flay, still very close to the fence. He was beyond the lettuce and the smell was almost overpowering here, but light as fresh dew on the grass. He didn't like it. He snuffled at the green foliage of the radishes he was beside and shook his head. Something...wasn't right. He decided to leave it alone.
Looking over his shoulder, noted where Faili was. She could smell it too and she didn't like it either. The owsla was nearby here, though, so he felt no need to rush back and comfort her. Instead, he continued to sniff, trying to place the smell in his head. He hadn't ever smelt it before, but it was unpleasant, like entering the burrow of a sick rabbit.

U'tuhlroo had managed to dig up her first carrot and sat back on her haunches, checking her surroundings with wiggling nose. Seeing or scenting no obvious dangers she turned towards Crow and gave him what she hoped was an encouraging smile. She sniffed her loot and decided it smelled good enough to be well worth the effort. She left it on the ground and attacked the next carrot in the row, digging furiously and as quickly as she possibly could. Getting the stubborn roots up was the key here, and she planned to grab them all later when it was time to get out of here. This might just be worth it, but Frith knew she didn't want to stay her longer than necessary.

The thin chest of the older rabbit had been heaving until the end of their descent over the down, not in pain or lack of being in shape, but from the excitement that now pounded through her. It wasn't a pleasant enthusiasm. Instead, her serious expression only grew more placid as they reached the farm. Her attentive nature seemed perfect for this scenario, taking the words that Ginko had said and immediately gave him a understanding nod as her simple address to his request. Inle'arn looked over her group, the older ones, and then the younger Crow, and gave a nod, following off with them until the little group came to a stop and started getting busy.
Unlike the other members of her team, the doe hadn't immediately jumped into digging at the flay-rah. Instead she sat up on her hinds, peering out at their surroundings at a constant, her ears swiveling 360 degrees as she sniffed the air. Where there was man, there was dog. Certainly they couldn't go this whole ordeal without some sort of interference. Well, she hoped there wouldn't be any such problem, but Inle'arn prided herself in being a realist, and though she didn't expect something horrible to happen like a pessimist, she wouldn't blind herself to the possibility. While the others dug away, she'd keep watch, with only the exception of finding a carrot or two she would start to dig away at when she was certain danger wasn't lingering about.
Her good eye flitted over to U'tuhlroo and Crow, noticing their efforts beside them.

Foxtail made his way through the garden behind his group. Nosing at anything that looked edible or suspicious. He was containing his excitement rather well, or so he thought, though his little tail twitched and wagged like crazy whenever his nose came in contact with something interesting.
He wasn’t so keen on how open his group’s area of the garden was. If danger should arise Foxtail couldn’t see many places that the three of them could hide, but, being the positive buck that he was, he just figured he’d worry about that when it happened.
Following his nose and focused almost completely on the ground in front of him, Foxtail didn’t notice the large man-made, hurdudu-like monster until he had stepped into it’s shadow. Freezing immediately, he lifted his head slowly to gaze, wide-eyed upon the creature, “What is this?”, he asked softly to no one in particular, unable to make his body move, “Is it alive? Is it sleeping?” suddenly a small breeze blew past and made the metal on the “monster” rattle slightly; which was enough to wake up Foxtail’s senses and send him tearing back behind his group, “S-sorry…never seen one of those before. It seems to be asleep though. Do you think it’s asleep?”

the smell he was catching made his stomach turn slightly, he didn't like it and he stretched his ears, straining to hear even the slightest sound to alert him of just what was about, usually if it didn't smell right, chances where it wasn't. he carefully lolloped out behind Faili and Taxus, his big silver body wasn't the best camouflage but he kept low and sniffed about, wanting to be near the others should something happen. he searched the greenery for the perfect bit to bring home. there was plenty to be found, he could smell it all around. cautiously looking side to side up and down and over his shoulder Blueflax seemed almost as if programed. his ears swiveled and his fur lay flat, his calm resolve made it easy for him to freeze still and listen closely.
as the stalk broke on the turnip the young buck gave up on it and mooved on. when suddenly Foxtail jumped and sought cover behind the group. Zo this Zelkova rolled his eyes, looked up at the 'monster' and scoffed "it's a man thing all right, doesn't appear to be alive, if it is, it is most definitely sleeping so hush your wheast you daft kitten!" he said sharply but in a hushed tone, wile he put on the front of a tough guy he too was confused by the metal man thing and he didn't trust it, but Foxtail's sudden movements where starting to irritate him and give him unnecessary jolts of panic. "and don't jump like that you'll attract attention" he grumbled sourly, he didn't like false alarms.

Whatever happened to be making the scent, the area seemed calm and silent enough for now. Still, the scent was an odd one and even the daftest of rabbit would know that there was something not right and danger was present, though none would know in just what form.
Ginkgo sneered at Foxtail's reaction to the hurdudu-thing and his ears flattened backwards. What a group of incompeten--- Well, they were new right? "You three, look for flay-rah. I'll watch for elil."
With that, he picked a spot with at least some shelter, where the plants began to grow tall.

Faili slowly crept closer to the patch of bushy greenery, risking a sniff once again at that sickly smell. What could possibly smell like that?? She recalled through many descriptions her mother had explained to her of the elil's scents. This didn't seem to match any of them. But it smelt like illness. . . would it make them ill? She pulled a face at the offending flay-rah, choosing not to be foolish enough to nibble at it. She instead edged around, peering through the foliage for signs of movement, before looking fora new patch of vegetables.

Foxtail jumped slightly as Zelkova snapped at him, nodding his understanding but still staring at the “monster”. It was only after Ginkgo spoke that he snapped back into reality and continued his search for flay-rah, “Yes sir. There must be some around here somewhere”. Nose once again in the dirt and twitching, Foxtail tried to forget about the monster; but part of him couldn’t help but feel like it was watching them.

Taxus paused and finally turned, going back towards his group. "You both smell it too, don't you?" he asked. "Its....its everywhere. The soil, the plants...even the air." he looked up, checking for predators and if something was actually making the smell right there.
"Its...a bad smell, isn't it?" he looked to the owsla they were with. "Well?" he asked. "Have you ever come about such a scent, sir?" he asked Blueflax. "Its not a natural kind of smell."

Blueflax rose to his hinds, swearing he could hear something his eyes wide but the sound was far off. he worried it was one of the other groups but he decided to remain focused on his own group before breaking off on a thought. he ducked back down low and began to search again. he had hoped to find kale, his favorite Flay-rah, but alas, no such luck yet. a quick look to make sure Taxus and Faili where still near and he was back to sniffing and rooting about with his nose the
when Taxus adressed him however he quietly crept over to him and shook his head. "no, this is a new smell and I don't trust it. "
Zelkova sighed and went back to searching after Ginkgo's announcement, he decided to search away from Foxtail. but still close to the others. though the man thing hadn't bothered him as much as Foxtail he still threw a wary ear in it's direction

There.
His pelt stuck out the most, it's bright white and gray against the dark hues of the earth. The small creature's eyes glinted with pleasure as she prepared to move. Her creamy brown body blended well with her surroundings and this would be more than enough to feed her hungry young.
It certainly was a good idea to risk venturing into the farmlands. Other, veggie eating critters did, offering a good bit of game for her. Mice, rats... Rabbits.
Her lithe frame moved through the flay-rah without so much as a noise and she circled behind her target. She was lightening fast as she launched from her hiding place within the plants, straddled Blueflax's back, and sank her razor sharp teeth into the side of his neck, seeking to drain his life from him swiftly.
It was an age old method used by weasels to kill their larger prey, as the rabbit was a little larger than she. Surprise it, grab it by it's neck, and drag it down. Exactly what she did. It was she that was putting off that musky, odd scent that seemed to cover the area, as she had been stalking it for some time now, on the prowl for something to fill her gut.

Inle'arn continued much in the same fashion, digging at the tops of the flay-rah and along the sides, but was more focused on their surroundings, pulling away from her work to peer about the garden. Nothing seemed too out of the ordinary, at least, not around her immediate area, and as she surveyed the others in her group, she wondered how well off the others were.
Finally going back to her work, she finally dug up a carrot, pulling it along with her as she settled to yet another carrot top sprouting from the ground.

Bramblebur wasn’t much fancying the relatively open feel of the place his group moved. He kept his body low as he moved, sniffing around with his ears angling this way and that. There were some scents that were familiar. The flay-rah that smelled vaguely like illness. He steered clear of those particular plants. The buck’s muscles tensed at Foxtail’s getting startled and ran behind the group. His gaze scanned the sky then drifted quickly to the massive hurdudu-thing sitting quietly nearby. The striped buck looked over at Ginkgo. “Sure, you hide while we look around out here,” he muttered softly to himself.
The buck scratched at the ground and looked over to Foxtail and Zelkova. He spoke in a low, steady tone, mostly to Foxtail. “Keep your wits about you…and all of us will get home in one piece.” He kept himself close to the other two, and moved to search roughly in between them, that way he could keep an eye on both while looking around for any nearby elil and any good flay-rah.
There were some tender young lettuce leaves here and there which were tempting, he was looking for something a little more substantial. He did gather up a few and looked towards the longer grasses, skyward, and to each of the members of his group before returning to his searching.
