She nodded softly, controlling her breath as they moved through the forest. As they kept on, a rumbling from ahead caused her to stiffen suddenly. Wide eyes glanced about fearfully and she ducked her head, it taking her a moment to determine the origin of the noise. How close they were the ocean she was unsure, for the static quality of the air confused her salt-laden nose.
"What was that?" Flame whispered, tail tucking as she looked around once more. The elements of a thunderstorm were not to keep her at ease in normal conditions, though in the middle of the night against the coat in a foreign land, it was almost debilitating. She didn't understand it as thunder, with lightning to soon proceed. There was no rain as a precursor, just the darkness that enveloped her, through a blind of clouds not much moonlight shone through to allow sight past the thick canopy. Even with dilated pupils she could barely see the wolf beside her.

He smiled, shaking his head with a nudge to her shoulder with his snout.
"Those, are called waves. The ocean is a large body of water that constantly moves back and forth from the sandy shore.. It moves, but in waves."
He informed her, hoping he made sense. He wasnt generally the type to be good at teaching.
But he was good at trying to help, which is what he was doing now.
"Dont be afraid." He said with a gentle, yet strong tone. He moved ahead of her, motioning her to follow. Once he was sure he could smell the path, he smiled as he pushed off with his feet into a trot.
"Come on!" He called, quickening his pace with a happy chuckle. He loved the water..Wait till she got to see it.

The crashing sound against the rocks and beach was more than any river's running that the female had ever heard, though his calm explanation soothed her worries. He wasn't afraid of these noises, she noted scoldingly, why should she be as well? Still cautious however the female kept close to his side, though surprised at the change of pace easily kept behind him.
The smell of the ocean only grew stronger and already through the trees she could feel the wind bat playfully at her ears. Though her eyes were held useless in the dark it was easy to understand where they were going now, and the thought that the trek was close to end filled her with confidence.

He lead her to the sand, and though it was dark, the moons bright rays reflecting off the water created a beautiful glow. The sands shifted under his paws, and he took in a deep breath of the ocean's salty air.
He loved the ocean, it reminded him of home. He lifted his head, looking up at the cliffs where his family resided.
They were tall, jagged, and certain death should someone fall off of them. He was happy to have his feet firmly on the earth below.
"Careful, dont step too far out into the water."
He warned, not wanting her to rush out into the water, it could get deep if you werent paying attention.
Of course, he was almost positive that she wasnt going to rush headlong into doing anything.

As they left the impossible dark of the forest, she wasn't ready to meet the sight before her. "Oh." It was the only thing that Flame could possibly use to describe the sight before her. Stopping just outside the treeline she allowed herself a moment of pure, unabashed amazement as she store out into the shimmering water. It was a colour she'd never seen before, the air an abrasively salty scent and the crashing of the waves massive in her pricked ears.
Blinking, the wolf noticed that she was alone and for a frantic moment she sought her bright guide among the scenery. Spotting him was easy enough, and she breathed an embarrassed sigh of relief, trotting quickly over to catch up to him. As she reached his side the wolf was quickly disoriented, picking her feet up high just to walk. Somehow her feet slipped on this fine dirt, yet it was not wet as mud was. It was scratchy against her sore pads and she could feel it in her fur. Curious, she looked over at Cyclone for explanation.

He smiled, and making sure to give her distance, nodded her the okay. What she was feeling, the shifting earth.. Was natural. There was no need to fear it.
"Sand. Its like.." He tried to think about a similar thing in the world, and all he could think of was:
"Its rather like the Ocean has sand, like the earth has dirt."
He smiled, hoping that explained it better.
"Feels funny doesnt it?"
He chuckled.

"O-I understand." She quickly changed her answer, averting her gaze briefly as she set her foot down. Once she began repeating herself with 'ohs' or 'mhms' the conversation went nowhere and it was time to go home. Of course, there was no home now to return to. She spread her front legs slightly, trying to keep herself steady on the strange surface. The female gave a genuine grin as she looked up from her paws to the glimmering water. "Yes, very. It's almost like falling."
Giving Cyclone one more glance she slowly made her way towards the water, careful of each sliding step as the tiny dunes gave way to the pressure of her weight. In all she was surprised it held her at all, always cautious for the step that would make her sink in fully.
