I keep thinking about those lands other than Alagaesia..I'm sure he wouldn't have mentioned it if it didn't play a purpose in the last book. And Eragon has to go to them in the end anyway. I keep having dillusions about the last rider not being from Alagaesia at all..and the Rock of Kuthian could be in Alalea..

I don't think it will be Arya. It's not because she's already come in close contact with an egg, another egg can hatch for her. I just really don't think the author will make her one. The next rider will most likely be a new character or someone you least expect. I mean did you really except Murtagh to be the next rider?

Well, to tell the truth, I kind of expected Murtagh to be a rider. I just didn't want it.

I don't think Arya will be the next rider, but you never know.
Roran probably will be some sort of Varden leader, especially since he was leading a group in Eldest.
It might turn out to be a new person or someone already mentioned in the book.
I also didn't expect Murtagh to be the next rider so who knows.

I think it will be a new girl. The classic love triangle.

What about Selena, Eragon's mother?
she dissapeared, so we really don't know anything about her life at present...

Now you're making me think really hard. Okay. CP said he never brought a character into the story unless they had a role to play later on. So far, the Carvhall families have joined the varden, twins were traitors, Murtagh rider.. I think he's going to bring Selena back into the stroy now. And that blind beggar maybe. he wouldn't have mentioned them otherwise. Eragon could have still found out about his mother if Angela hadn't said Selena had requested the fortune telling. And Eragon's birth, why Selena left and all that is stilla mystery. I think he might unravel it for us.

I think you're on to something here. I think Selena will come back. I don't know if she'll be the rider, I mean it is possible, but I think she'll come back and at least play some part. Just don't solve it all on me, I want the book to be at least somewhat a surprise.

Hehehe..If you want to know my theory, I believe Alalea will somehow get involved into it all..Maybe he'll do a Tolkein and all the elves will go back to Alalea..hehehe.. I doubt Selena'll be a rider too.

yeah, she probably won't be the rider, but she's got something biggish to do with the next book...or at least her history will....i think.

Well he learned about his father in the second book. It's time he learned more about his mother and why she left him. Maybe Angela will give in and tell him what his mother's fortune was? She might have died in the 16 years that he grew up but left something behind for him? Like something to do with the Rock of Kuthian? (don't actually believe any of my theory's I'm really bad at guessing the right thing.)
Anyway, I'm already disappointed that he used a lot of Tolkien's work to influence his. He better not copy any more of it, so far, it's pretty original but if he does the whole history and the elves going back and stuff, then I will be really disappointed at his imagination. Besides, no one can top Tolkien.

Hey want to hear my "theory" on the elves? Since they're so much like Tolkien's elves I think they are a certain group that fled Middle Earth and sailed to Alalea and soon came upon Alagaesia. And it took such a long time to get there and they've been there so long that they've forgotten their old religion and created a new one. That's why they don't believe in anything but nature itself and all that. And they also created a new magic for this world. So they've completely forgotten they're old past. It would be so far back that it wouldn't be in any of the history's of Alagaesia. This is the only way I can personally explain to myself how his elves got to look so much like from Middle Earth. biggrin

(I hope no one is offended by this. I just happen to be a big Lotr fan.)

Hey! That would make a lot of sense..Alagesia, the Grey Land or whatever it was called. Or they went to Alalea and then Alagaesia. And you're right, it would make sense to learn about Selena..gosh..it makes a lot of sense! xd
