"Hey," Astan said. His tone was amiable, but not too amiable. They were still outside and he didn't want to draw more attention to the group than was absolutely necessary.
Under no such social or safety constraints, Rahk addressed Uzi. "Hello, I am Rahk. This is Ro. Who is that?" At least it kept its voice at a decently low volume. It gestured at Kell, still curious about the slobbery beast that had assaulted its sibling. Rahk had been told of the dangers of acting out, hell, even moving in public, but the talkative proto often didn't take the warning to heart. Ro kept its head down obediently, still flopping against Astan's arm.
"Good to see you again," Astan added, looking around to make sure no one was eavesdropping. He addressed Eli more than Uzi, considering he had just seen her a short while ago. Also, he was more than a bit wary of the girl. What was her Purpose?

Eli offered Astan an understanding look and a small nod" Good to see you too, we should probbaly keep walking." They'd attract less attention or at least less constant attention as group if they kept moving.
Uzi's golden gaze centered squalidly on the talking proto for a moment before flicking away to stare straight ahead. She would bring no intentional danger to those of her kind without due cause. Still, she intended to reply. " That's Kell he's a hunting dog, he's harmless to you"

Everyone was being so serious. Rahk nodded, then lowered its head to Astan's arm, finally imitating its sibling. There would be time for talking at some other point.
Astan followed along to the best of his ability while also minding the protos and trying to look like he knew where they were going. "Mmm hmm." He truly doubted anywhere was safe when Rahk was in a talking mood, but it seemed to have calmed down to the point where the scene might have looked almost normal to your average pedestrian. Maybe he could try out his new backpack...

Knowing the area fairly well Eli lead the group to a small cafe, of the non coffee house kind, nearby with, a railed patio deck that wrapped around the side of the building "We can sit and talk here without being disturbed." He'd talked with clients here before and on occasion provided the place with special game kills for when they wanted to host unique luncheons and small parties that required rare things on the menu. Most of the staff knew him at least loosely and no one was going to come over and bug him unless he signaled he actually wanted service, other patrons would probbaly choose to sit on the front part of the patio was it had the most easy access to the street.
As Eli found them a table and sat Uzi did the same though upon the railing instead. She didn't horribly dislike chairs but for the moment the huntress was more inclined to perch a bit higher than the others in the group, even it might only barely make her taller than Astan.
Kell settled beside Eli's chair the old hound dog flopping onto this belly and resting his head upon massive paws.

Astan lay his purchase on the table in front of him as he sat, then placed the protos on top of the plastic bag. "Don't move," he said to them. "Um, after you get settled." Rahk nodded shallowly, then both Essentics moved into sitting positions near the center of the bag before going mostly still.
"So," Astan said. Rahk turned its head and looked up at him with a half-plaintive, half-irritated expression. "Fine, you guys can talk."
"He..."
"Quietly."
"Hello, Uzi. I agree with Astan in that it is nice to meet you. Ro does not speak so do not wait for it to do so." Rahk bounced a bit, then went still again, continuing to chatter softly. "Your guardian seems like a nice person and it is nice to meet him too."

Thanks" Eli replied, nodding at the small, though he thought a bit larger than Zia had been, proto. The auburn haired man's attention though soon shifted over to Astan. "So how did this happen?" He inquired gesturing to the twins, hell he hadn't even known they could come in twos.
Uzi's golden eyes focused on the one known as Ro briefly "Is it broken?" The alter had met no other essentics with physical defects yet that she could recall." And what is your purpose?" She asked one ear swiveling just a little to catch the response.

"I was in the park. Not a very nice park or anything. And it was the middle of the night," Astan rambled, his outlandish storytelling skills atrophied by months of self-induced friendlessness. "Their...spark? It was kind of in a bush. And glowing." He cleared his throat. "I didn't know they were like that at first. I guess I didn't stay at Banning's party long enough to see any of you guys with yours." The night of the ball seemed so long ago now, but Astan was sure he had left way before the time when parties usually got interesting.
"We are protectors. And we care for Astan," Rahk said. It was probably a shame that no one had taken the time to put a name to their purpose because Family was miles more concise and easily understood. For now, the description made them come across as overly-emotional bodyguards. "Broken?" Rahk turned its head sharply to look at its sibling, giving Ro a poke on its leg before resuming its stillness. "No, I do not think so? Just quiet."

Eli blinked, that sounded abnormal, was it possible that sparks could somehow occur naturally? If such a thing was possible then why weren't there more cases of this happening? " Does Banning know about this?" Even if he did he doubted the man was happy about such a random occurrence.
"Protecting is important," Uzi noted with a nod, after all she protected Eli not that he much needed it. In her own way she also cared for him but it was by choice not because she had to. " Why did you pick him?" The huntress' tail flicked as she asked the question, surely even though Astan had found their spark, which she was hearing, they didn't have to accept him. Then again Uzi had distant memories of her time as a spark of the need to connect with something, to be told her purpose. Perhaps it had been the same for them, even if the man seemed so different from them and not in need of much protecting.

"I've never met Banning face-to-face," Astan said. "But... Misha? He knows. He came by a few days after I found them."
Rahk glanced up at Astan before it began to answer Uzi, as if it was reluctant to do so in front of him. "We needed protection too." It vaguely remembered the man who had stolen them from their comfortable spot on a shelf somewhere and dragged them out into the cold. Astan was a saint, comparatively. Not that they would have bonded with just anyone. The twins looked thoughtful for a minute, then Ro turned and touched its sibling's arm. Rahk nodded. "And we wanted to be cool. Well, Ro did." It smiled.
Astan looked a bit surprised at this revelation. He chuckled, then broke out in a guffaw. "You did not," he said, smiling. He didn't bother informing the proto that probably the only reason why they found him cool now was because he was their primary role model. And maybe because he played the drums. Astan dared anyone to argue drums weren't cool.
"Ro. Did." Rahk sounded terse, but the smile remained on its face.
