When Serah checked her watch, Ari braced herself for a quick rejection followed by abandonment. Serah's assertion that they needed to keep shopping - if only for one more store - was therefore a shock.
"Huh?" Ari blinked. Not what she'd expected Serah to follow up with. A smile burst out over her face. "Sure! That sounds fun."
And cute. Definitely the right place for Serah to visit, Ari thought.

Shortly after they called the waiter over with their checks, the girls exited the restaurant minutes after. "I do hope you're not just going along with me and my fancy whims. I don't want to force you to the stuffed animal store after all." Serah said as they walked there, the distance was short between the two stores.
She halted at the sight of the window, hands against the window and shining eyes staring inside. "Oh gosh, that bunny is so cute! Hurry, Ari or someone might buy it!" She took Ari's hand to drag her along, obviously determined to get that bunny that was placed there strategically as if to capture the attention of someone like Serah. (It had a conniving look in it's eyes but Serah would say that iit's sparkling eyes is shouting "BUY ME BUY ME.")
Ari was coming along, whether she liked it or not.

Ari blinked at the idea that she was being forced along. It was a little laughable, that the tiny and cute Serah would be forcing the taller and older Ari. Ari held back the laugh, but smiled a bit as she replied, "No, I honestly don't mind- woah!"
She was cut off as Serah grabbed her hand and dragged her along. The pink-haired girl's enthusiasm gave her surprising strength. Or maybe it was that Ari had no intention of resisting. Either way, it was a strange duo that made their way into the toy shop.
Ari was finally released, now that Serah was close enough to reach out and touch the stuffed animals. She left the bunnies to Serah, wandering slowly through the store and taking in all the different types of animals. Lions, tigers and bears, oh my! And every other animal you could expect to find at a zoo, or in a pet store, or in a catalogue of fantasy animals (the pink glittery unicorn earned a raised eyebrow from Ari, but maybe some girls were into that sort of thing).
"See anything you like?" she asked Serah as she browsed. Ari left her fingers trail along the different kinds of fur and soft coverings as she walked.

Serah picked up various stuffed animals, hugging them and putting it back. If asked, she would tell you that she was testing their 'levels of huggable-ness.' To put it simply, she had a scale between one and ten. One being the worst.
As Ari circled the store and followed Serah, Serah sighed at her question. For her, that question was asking a kid about the candy shop. "Nonono, the problem is that there's nothing I don't like." She said frustratedly, her hands rubbing at the sides of her hair in a frustrated manner.
"This is hell to pick. If I didn't have so much at home, I'd just buy them all-- Argh!" Some may have debated that it would have been better for Serah to never have walked in this store in the first place. She took out two cell phone charms that stared cutely at the two girls (another strategically placed one.) One was a bunny (naturally) and the other was a red panda.
"You like red pandas Ari? Or do you prefer some other animal?" Serah asked, gesturing to the assortment of charms that stood on the rack before them.

Ari turned away to hide a grin when Serah expressed her desire to buy the whole store. What would Serah's parents think if she came home with dozens upon dozens of stuffed animals? What would Ari's parents think if Ari were in Serah's place? Hmm, stare at Ari like she'd gone crazy and ask probing questions (badly) disguised as casual ones to see if she was suffering from some kind of trauma. Yeah, maybe her parents weren't the best example to use.
She walked over to stare at the phone charms. "The red panda is really cute," she said. She stared at the rest of the collection. "I don't know if I have a favourite animal or anything..."
She should, though, right? It seemed like a really basic, obvious thing to have. To know about yourself. Ari just shrugged.
"Which one do you like best?"

"I like them both." Serah said with a note of finality, leaving Ari to pay for them at the cashier. One could see her refusing to get a bag, handing over several bills of money and some change. She stuffed the receipt in her pocket, the crumpled paper sticking out. She trotted back shortly, carrying the two cell phone charms in hand.
Taking Ari's wrist, she forced the other girl to extend her hand, placing the red panda charm directly in the middle of Ari's hand. "This is for your help earlier. And for hanging out with me today. " She pushed the spontaneous gift towards Ari, refusing to take it back if any protests arose.
Her chocolate brown eyes had to look up to meet Ari's, flicking her hair over her shoulder. "I dont ordinarily buy gifts for people I've just met but you're quite the entertaining one. We'll have to meet again, okay?" She barely gave Ari time to reply back, looking hastily at her watch. Out came the mumbled hasty words, "I gotta go---!" and Serah gave Ari a quick (but tight) hug. The pink haired girl rushed off outside the store, soft steps following her exit.

"Ah. Um, thank you," Ari stammered as she accepted the gift. She wasn't normally one who had trouble speaking, but this was completely unexpected. She didn't have any real friends and the only people who bough her things were her parents - and even that made her uncomfortable sometimes. That wasn't the case with Serah, it was just a sweet gesture from a nice girl.
"Hope to see you at school!" she called after Serah as the pink-haired girl ran off.
Ari petted the soft little red panda before glancing at the time. A curse flew from her lips as she realised her parents were expecting her home in ten minutes. Placing the cute gift into one of her shopping bags, Ari exited the store and then took off at a run.
