Where Lovers Mourn is a solid debut, but I feel that they spent more time focusing on the structure of Arcane Rain Fell. Not only is the structure better, the album has a much better atmosphere and conveys an actual sense of loss and hopelessness. Overall, that album has remained of my favorite in the genre of all time. Draconian have yet to put out an album that's below being great IMO.

While, from a critical and objective perspective (if it's even possible to be objective with these things), you speak the truth, Where Lovers Mourn simply has more standout tracks to me. "The Cry of Silence" is my favorite Draconian song, followed shortly thereafter by "Eternal Winter" and only then by "The Abhorrent Rays" off ARF. It's a subjective thing.
