"emo" is a mindset/lifestyle rather than just about music.... Like... you don't have to listen to "punk rock" to be a punk.... or even listen to country to be a cowboy... haha.... So, emo is just ..... i guess the average traits of an emo person would be as follows: - pesimistic - manic depressant - non-confrontational - sensitive - feminine (guys) (in a lot of cases... not in all) - quiet/shy/timid (goes along with the non-confrontational) - etc... yeah... Although, most people with those traits love music.... moreover, they'd be listening to "emo" music ... heh...

Neko Quatre All about the music, not being a ******** fanboy/girl of every emo band member. Not being a p***y and crying over the slightest thing. Not cutting yourself for attention and not dressing Emo. You can do all of those things, and it'll make you a poser though. Dude, Not every emo kid cuts him/herself. I'm straight edge and I do it because drugs are bad for me, not for a trend, the same goes for cutting. If you want to be a cocsucker and cut yourself do it, you'll be the one with anemia.

I think emo is not about music but about the lyrics in the music. 'Emo' kids dont just care about the style of music but the feeling behind the words and the meaning of it. Music that has no meaning isnt 'emo' its just punk or metal or rock or rap or whatever the heck you want to listen to. Well thats me anyways.

whatever reason you believe, but do people really need to expalin what makes them who they are? and if u do listen to emo music you shouldn't restrain yourself to listening to just that, because you think ur emo, its not like theres any rules to being emo.

people get scene and emo get mixed up too much.
they need to ******** off and go chase some scene kid.
emo is you have been hurt sometime in your life and it hurts because you look back on it.
and the music.

Emo stands for Emotionally charged hardcore punk rock. I hate it when someone calls you 'Emo'... It's like calling someone a piece of music... And just because you cut and cry doesn't mean your 'Emo' Alot of people do those things.
