With a raised eyebrow, Castor hopped back to his feet to follow the pretty female. She was interesting, and not as girly as most females in his life seemed to be. She was an enigma to him, and he loved every moment spent trying to figure her out.
The thoughts and feelings were immature, but the teen felt a small spark in his chest, something tugging at his heart strings when he looked into her eyes. He was unsure of what was going on, but he never wanted it to stop. "Coming!" he agreed to the gentle flick of her head, catching up with her to move easily at her side, wagging his tail all the way.
His chuckle birthed into a full-fledged laughter, crackling with a cough here or there. It was cute. He was jealous, but the girl was way more suited to his cousin than himself. He needed someone his age, and if he could get someone cute and sweet, with a touch of warrior, he would.
What? He wasn't picky... just... well aged. The big male watched as the two disappeared through the trees, and looked up when they had gone from sight, to see the moon high overhead. "You're welcome to spend the night under the protection of my home, if you want." he called after them, giving a short howl afterwards.

She'd keep Maim's offer in mind. Along the way, Kaya began to divulge in her secrets by word of mouth. Whenever they got to the spring water, if ever they did, she'd say more on that subject. "So I went back to an old friend of mine... Somebody who actually saved my life when I got here." Her voice was extremely soft and peaceful, but precise and serious all the same. "The method by which he did so astounded me from the moment I opened my eyes back up. I was a little...distracted... back then, but now I wished to learn exactly how he did it." As soon as she trailed off slightly with distracted, a small frown rushed past her maw as she shoved aside the memory of her mother and family. Yet again came such memories, and yet again came passing time and a complete ignorance of those feelings. Perhaps not really ignorance so much as wanting to live a peaceful life and not dwell heavily on things that hurt her. Regardless what they were.
Some few minutes and mixture explanations later, she concluded, "So you see, the sap that was made somehow healed me straight from what might have been thought by some to even be near death! Although... I do not think you could replicate it, unfortunately. This friend of his, Dune, was not just any companion, but a very powerful individual of sorts." She stopped there, realizing she'd gone on for a lifetime by now. She really appreciated anybody willing to listen to her for so long. As did she appreciate Castor's company. There was something so special about this wolf, but she couldn't put her finger on it. Was it his charm? His sense of humor? Or just his general friendliness that caught her? Or yet still his handsome coat of fur? In any of the above cases, she was happy to be by his side at the moment, and thankful for any future time she'd dwell in his presence.

He walked alongside her, listening intently. Every once in a while he dared to touch her, minutely brushing against her shoulder or hip, or brushing her tail with his.
"Saved your life, wow." he interjected momentarily, both musing out loud and to show her that he was really listening. After she was done, he had his doubts about the mixture itself, and believed more that possibly this wolf, Dune, was a shaman. Had she ever met one, or a seer for that matter? He hadn't, but thought it would be interesting.
"So that's where you've been." he grinned, finding her story very interesting. It would do for some fun to go on their own adventure together, and voiced as much. "We should adventure together, Kaya." he said suddenly, waiting to gauge her reaction before going further.

She hadn't minded the simple brushes against her body along the way, and she was glad that Castor had listened ever so carefully. His invitation to explore was exceedingly welcomed, but at the same time somewhat hesitantly. After all, she'd only basically just got here, despite it having been a while by now. Though, in reality, she'd meet more people along the way. "Well, I..." she started, not quite sure how to respond and not wishing to respond too excitedly. Didn't want to give the impression of being overly eager. While eagerness was a good thing, neither of them were pups anymore. Not really anyways. "That sounds like fun." She half-sighed as she spoke but in a very lighthearted, contented manner. "Did you have somewhere in mind then?" she approached, then with a soft flick of her own tail brushed against his.

This was delightful. He could barely stand himself, but he kept it all inside for now - there was no sense bouncing around like a pup once again. Now was the time to be a little older.
"You're hesitant." he nuzzled her softly, but Castor didn't let it change his mood. Instead, he tried to list some of the positive points. "I don't know, I was thinking it would be an opportunity to meet new friends along the way, see new lands. It doesn't all look like this, I've heard from travelers."
"And maybe... I dunno, find a pack of our own?" he spoke the last bit in a half-whisper - maybe he was being way too hopeful, but the last four words stuck in his mind, ringing out loudly. Pack of our own? he thought to himself, the gears clearly turning in his mind, now.

"What?!" She half-yelped, startled by his last words. It's true she felt a great fondness for this Castor, but to think of creating their own pack, and so quickly?! Deep down inside herself, it almost felt kindof right, but Kaya would not admit that just yet. For she wasn't one to move so fast into things, and wanted to ease into everything she did.
"A pack? Of our own? Castor, I'm flattered. Really! But don't you think that's moving just a bit too fast? I can, however, see how this trip would do us both justice. Not to mention it would be absolutely amazing to meet new others." She hoped she'd made herself clear without making Castor feel too rejected. Perhaps in fact she wasn't even supposed to have heard his remark. Either way, she followed up with a smooth and gentle pawswipe, slow and sweetly. It was obvious there were sparks flying between the two, and truthfully Castor was the only male her age that she'd known thusfar, so rightfully so.

What?! No! "I, I meant... " he stumbled, and if he had been able to, he would have blushed bright red. He had meant find a pack to settle in! Not... not... he shook his head, feeling red hot guilt that he had made her misunderstand what he had meant.
His ears drooped again, and he backed up until he had sat down fully. He reached out his nose to her, and caught a gentle pawswipe, and as it slowly brushed over his muzzle, a goofy, dreamy smile was left in its place.
"I meant maybe, we could find a pack to join, if you wanted. Or we could wander the world." He left it unsaid that he would follow her anywhere if she would allow it - and she would have to allow it. He was beginning to gather the feeling that she was strong hearted, strong willed, and she would get anything she wanted, if she truly sought after it.

Kaya's own face felt hot with embarassment after she realized that she'd taken Castor the wrong way. Something, however, tugged at the back of her heart and mind at the thought. She couldn't quite place it, but maybe mistaking him hadn't been so bad after all. Quickly she corrected herself. "Oh. I see. Well then! Sorry about that." She attempted not to sound goofy, but even the strongest of wolves at heart or even physically had their moments. "But umm...yeah! That actually sounds lovely." Her voice calmed with that statement, and so she reverted back to stable mentality. "I don't know how I feel about joining a pack right now... But we'll see." she stated. "Wish to leave now? We could stow away into the night!" She added finally, somewhat friskily even.

As she mulled over the corrective information he had given, his ears lay flat on his skull, showing his uncertainty. When she finally agreed, they stood straight back up. The look on his face was one of pure elation, and he pranced back and forth in front of her as she asked to leave right then.
"Let's go!" he yipped, feeling a tiny bit of regret for leaving Maim behind without saying goodbye - but they would meet again someday. It was the way of his cousin, in any case, and as such, the guilt was soon gone.
It seemed to the teen that North was the best way to go - as they had both probably had enough of the South to last them a lifetime. Castor bound forward, lashing his tail to and fro, looking back over his shoulder only to make sure she was following.

Kaya smiled back at him and immediately sped forward herself, gaining on him quickly with leaps and bounds to go in her energy stream. Away they were, into the night. Into the still. Chilled winds cascading over the lands. Tall trees swaying madly every so often, with a mostly gentle rocking of the leaves otherwise. They'd both make more time if they ran, and Kaya would run as far as she could handle doing so. Peering back over her own shoulder now, she hoped she'd gotten a good enough lead to kick some dirt in the rascal's way as she moved.
