It had been quite a while since Kaya had last spoken to the old gray one, or the spotted femme she'd met back in the day. Her legs had grown longer, her heart, more open, her eyes more vivid now, her senses more keen. Experience throughout this time had taught her many a trick of how to hunt, survive on the land, and what areas seemed safe nearby and which weren't. There were still a few kinks to work out of course, but it was getting better for her every day.

Castor, the very nice male she had met as a pup, had done his best to be a good friend, and had proven repeatedly to be a great guide as well. Some of the most beautiful sights she'd ever seen had been on the night before she met Loki. Ahhh Loki. She'd greeted her well and sent this black and white, yet somewhat grayish femme off with good blessings. Now, here she was, just a few miles from where she knew the pack of theirs met every so often, out on another adventure of her own.

She swished her tail to and fro and almost skipped in her stride. A smile covered her maw and her fur was perfectly smooth and silky at the moment. The sun glistened off of her body, sending light waves just gorgeous down her back and spine on either side. Thanks to the many of trees which directed the light of course. She was humming to herself now, a tune which she could not place but knew she remembered from somewhere. It was ever so peaceful that if even partially sleepy, one could drift into slumber from it without realizing it. Where would she end up today? Who might she meet? She never knew, but she was always up for anything.

"I can't believe you!" the younger cousin yipped unhappily, standing on his hind legs to bite his older family's ears. Maim had been to see his MOTHER. The one who had tried to kill him. Castor wasn't very happy with this decision, but at least his cousin was back safely... for now. What if she had followed him back here? "The entire pack could be in danger." he growled as he tugged at the dark ear, soaking it with saliva and irritating the older male in the process.

"You do realize the pack doesn't even know I'm here? They don't even know I exist!" it was true. Nitika had birthed him and his brother far away from here, after she had outcast herself from her family. There was no telling when he would work up the courage to introduce himself to his grandmother Loki, and the rest of his family.

"The pack is sort of barren right now... nobody's home, honestly. Grandmother and one Elder. The rest are out on their own adventures." he quirked his head, letting the offending ear go, suddenly. He still balanced on his hindpaws, though, keeping his forepaws on his cousins great shoulder.

"Shut up, something's coming." the much bigger male ordered, shoving the smaller cousin to the ground and stepping in front of him. There was no telling, honestly, these days what was going to happen. "Show yourself." the wolf commanded to the forest around the pair.

Kaya's peaceful stride was broken by the sound of a much older, firmer tone. "Show yourself." it instructed, not all too friendly in the process. Either it meant danger, or someone was exceedingly irritable at the moment. Either way, the female wasn't sure how this was going to end up. Her humming halted. "I mean you no harm." she called out softly, stepping into the view after a few moments. "Oh, it's you Castor. Hi." She gave him a sweet smile in greeting and then turned to the other. "You must be who I heard. Is everything alright? My name's Kaya." As much as a wolf could, she gave a bow.

One of his ears dripped slightly in spit. She assumed that perhaps the two knew of each other fondly. Or at least that's what she hoped. She could sense that there was some tension, however, coming from Castor at least.

"BE NICE!" Castor was up off the ground as Kaya showed up, and he headbutted his older cousin in the shoulder, though it was embarrassing when the bigger wolf didn't seem to even sway a bit at being butted. He realized the older male wasn't used to being around other wolves anymore, but there was no point in being a queen over everything.

"Kaya!" he greeted her, noticing that she had grown quite a bit since he had last seen her. He bounded over to her and gave her a friendly nuzzle, making sure to shake the dirt and debris off himself on the way over, so that she wouldn't get dirty too.

"Do you know each other?" the older wolf was exceedingly irritated by his younger cousin's playful attitude all of a sudden, but he pushed it back down. He had been a playful pup once - OH WAIT, no he hadn't. He gave a squint-eye'd glare at the pair before moving closer. "My name is Maim, please to meet you, my dear." he gave a bow in return, watching his silly ward as he made a proper fool out of himself.

"Maim is my cousin!" he quickly explained, remembering with a small spike of fear that he had told Mingan he had been with his UNCLE all this time... Well s**t, he was confused himself half the time - it was weird having a cousin so much older than you! ;.;

"How have you been? I've missed you..." he trailed off. She was... vibrant. He had thought she was pretty when he had met her, but the idea of crushing on a pup was all too dirty for the teen. He felt like a creepy old man, but... now? Now seemed more fair ground, he guessed, and felt that he could fawn over her without her thinking of him poorly. At least, he hoped.

Kaya laughed slightly as the two seemed to quarrel. Just like brothers - only, cousins! "Cousins." she began, wiping the grin from her face best she could. "Fair enough. Pleased to meet you too, kind sir. I assure you I meant no harm. And yes, I met Castor here when I was just a pup." Her explanation was brief, but told everything necessary. And for the first time in her life, she noticed more than the beauty of the earth around her. While that caught her eyes well, so did today the two males standing before her.

One was tall, scarred, much older and yet quite handsome, really. He must be well off, she thought. Castor's coat had a much different texture. One she really preferred, even. With creamy accents and darker pawpads and ears. His wristband markings weren't too appealing, but aside from that he was also quite handsome. Rather than getting caught up in coats of fur, though, she decided to direct her attention towards the wind's blowing direction. It blew straight ahead and easily sent her fur in the appropriate direction. Again her pelt found itself glistening. It seemed to be an accent that followed her closely.

Castor suddenly felt like he was being evaluated against his cousin. No fair! He... agh! "You're looking good, Kaya." he was disconcerted when she didn't return his nuzzle. Oh god, did she not like him? What would he do?!

Calm. He looked down at the ground after noticing how the wind-swept look made her fur glisten like some untouchable beauty. "Cousins, yes." he smiled, at her mention of them meeting. He wondered what she had been doing all this time, but didn't want to ask again so soon. If she didn't answer the question, he might try to fit it in later in conversation...

"That's very interesting." the older wolf replied when he could get a word in between Castor's yipping. He wasn't sure what to say after that, and he let himself flop to the ground. He was sleepy, and bored. Nothing interesting happened anymore, and his wandering to find his mother had worn him out a bit. "So what are you doing around here?" he asked, realizing that he knew almost everyone in the area - though they might not know him - and he had never seen her before.

"It's a long story..." she replied, finally now realizing she'd completely and accidentally ignored Castor's kind gesture and questioning. In doing so, she turned to him immediately. "Oh, sorry Castor. I was uhm...distracted I suppose." Her eyes averted for a second, not wanting to reveal what her thoughts were really up to just moments ago, then back on track they went. "I've actually been developing and honing my hunting skills, as well as picking up a few nifty tricks along the way." She beamed. "Maybe I could show you sometime." She spoke, almost as if asking and/or inviting the male out for sometime later. And yet she digressed.

The older male now looked like he was pooped and not all too healthy. Perhaps he wasn't as well of as she had previously thought. She stepped over to him and gave a gentle nudge to his head, urging him to get back up, but only sweetly and slightly. "You alright there, Maim? I may be new around here and to this world, but I know a sick wolf when I see one. If you need anything, let me know." By now she was well aware of a few medicinal techniques. You know, general things you picked up along the way. Like how to bandage using only leaves. How you'd dip your paws in water if they were cut to ease the pain. Simple remedies.

In any case, she hoped she wasn't overstepping her boundaries, as she so usually hoped. In addition, and she didn't know why, she felt strangely attached to these males. Even the older one. It really was very strange... Kind of awkward, if not creepy even. This Maim was OOOOLLDDDD. At least compared to her. o_O'

Yay, attention! The teen's dark tail swished happily to and fro as she answered his question and slyly invited him away from the small group. "Maybe tonight or in the morning?" he tried now not to seem so eager, fearing that it would ward her off.

But then she moved... to Maim. HAH, Maim wasn't sick, he was lazy! But he didn't say that out loud - thinking it better for himself and Maim if he kept it to himself. She was showing him too much attention, and his ears drooped a bit, unsure of what to do. He had remembered Maim telling him that girls loved older guys. What to do!? D:

She's touching me... why is she touching me. In his mind, he was crying. Do not want.

Though he had never even laid eyes on his fallen sisters, every young female had the curse of reminding him of what could have been. It made him so pissed off to think that lives had to end for no reason at all, and so sad that those lives were his flesh and his blood.

"I'm fine, just tired from a long journey. I went to see my mother." he trailed off a bit, though, as it wasn't his nature to spill his doings all over everyone else. "I promise I will." he finished, snapping off the tale of his long lost (killer) mother.

He nuzzled her back, realizing how massive he must seem to the younger kids. Wow... he had gotten that from his grandfather, a mountain wolf known for his gigantic size. He had been so surprised to find his mother was almost tiny comparatively.

"Tonight then it shall be." Kaya agreed, turning for a moment to Castor then back to Maim. "Very well then." she nodded. "Oh, was it nice to see her?" That seemed a bit of a random question, but then again she wasn't really too terribly good at conversations yet. She tried, though, and always meant well. "Not to pry, of course. Just curious. Always curious." She chuckled, then batted some dirt swiftly and softly towards Castor, who wasn't looking quite himself this evening. "And are you okay Castor?" she asked, raising an eyebrow at his peculiar faces and movements. It was beginning to become a little bit difficult to keep up with two seperate conversations and topics at once.

What a confusing female. Castor was unsure of what was going on - maybe she was just a courteous loving soul, and was trying to pay attention to the both of them at once. "Tonight." he confirmed, smiling, and extremely happy that she had chosen to invite him away at all.

The teen jumped a little, also playfully, when the dirt flew towards him. His ears perked back up and he pranced a bit closer to Kaya and Maim, to convince her that he was just fine. "All good here." he grinned, suddenly pouncing Maim as he lay on the ground.

"Um, it was." he wondered if she even cared to hear the whole story - or even if he could manage to tell it. Not even Castor knew - only Maim's brother, Rend, knew of those details, along with their mother of course. He surely didn't want to depress the moment with the gory details of his puphood.

He also had learned not to ask others about their pasts. Things could be bad these days, and he didn't want to send anyone into a traumatic state.

Suddenly he felt a weight on him. "Castor!" he yelped, rolling over. He hadn't been ready this time, as he had been when he was headbutted. He batted at the smaller wolf, playfully gnawing at his ears - payback for earlier!

Kaya laughed and pounced the two of them after watching their miniature fiasco for a moment. "Rawr!" she yelped in glee, then pawswiped the two of them playfully for what seemed the longest of time. When she finally stopped she finished up with a tail swipe or two, then went in for the kill - with her tongue! This was quite fun, she thought. And she hoped the others were having as much joy out of the situation as she was. It was engaging, entertaining, extraordinary! Companionship was a truly amazing thing. It was good to have friends...
PostPosted: Sun Oct 25, 2009 6:05 pm

At first, the teen was so caught up fighting Maim he didn't realize that Kaya had joined in, but soon the three of them were playing like old friends. It was a warm feeling, thinking that so many cared about him, hoped he was happy. Especially after so much torment in his puphood.

The wolf wasn't sure how to react - he didn't tumble around with girls he barely knew, especially ones so young! He wasn't an old creep, after all!

But he gave in. He was having fun, they were all playing together - something he had never done. He was enjoying the companionship, but finally had to roll away out of the fray. He had picked up on the fact that his young cousin had taken a liking to this female, and wasn't about to be the fun killer who got in the way.

"You kids go play." he said gruffly, wishing that things were different. He had never known the love of a female in his life, and he wasn't a young pup anymore. Maim was ready to settle down with someone who could love him for all his rough spots, but it didn't seem that that could ever happen.

Kay wasn't sure how to react when Maim broke off from the group. At first she thought perhaps he was uninterested in the playing after all. But after a short while she began to realize this wasn't the case. She wondered what the mysterious elder's - because that's what she called those much older than herself - life must really be like. Snapping herself back into reality just moments later, Castor had finally begun to really join in on the fun with her there. "That was great!" she spoke, stopping and panting to catch her breath and some air. "Nothing like a good roll around in the dirt." She immediately shook her fur off to rid it of the debree.

The teen also shook himself off, and agreed with Kaya with a yip and prancing. "Absolutely!" he confirmed, stretching himself out and flopping on the ground to get at an itch on his hip.

The sun was going down a bit, and Castor wondered when Kaya would want to go for a walk and show him some of the things she had learned. He was eager to go, but he was comfortable to stay as well - he didn't want to seem like he was rushing her.

A soft chuckle erupted up from the older wolf's gut, and he smiled wildly as he, too, sunk into the grass and dirt around them. It was nice to lay down - especially when you were lazy. "Never stop doing it, never stop playing." he warned, lightly. He meant it, though. There was nothing worse than losing that sense of play - that puphood joy.

The female did not want to be rude and make a quick getaway from the scene to share her ideas, and yet it seemed like this wasn't really going anywhere very quickly either. "So Castor, come with me." She said, beginning off in some random direction. "My apologies, Maim. But it's getting late, and I believe I made him a promise." She paused for a moment, thinking. "... But, you're free to come too...if you like." she smiled back, then urged Castor thisaway with a gentle flick of her head. Her tail swung lightly in delight, sticking partially straight up in a somewhat proud manner. What to teach first oh what to teach first... They had no wounds, so this would be tricky. She also did not want to give anybody any wounds. Perhaps they could just *talk* about these things. Hmm. Only time would tell.
