User ImageAha, the sounds of carnage. It had been a long, long time since Razevi had been near them. In an actual bodily vessel, at least. As much as she craved to hop down there and slaughter a few herself, she understood that for the ritual to work properly there had to be a bit more strife in the air. "Animals," Bramimond had said. Monsters would certainly suffice.

"Yes, children...keep destroying them..." she murmured.

As she said this, her form gained physicality as she appeared from flecks of darkness, the shroud about her form dropping as she took a step upon the balcony outside. She had obtained control of Vika's full form, and it had began to show through on her skin, as deathly bloody etches had formed down her limbs and along her face, the worst of them hidden by the mask itself. Vika had once protested, but Razevi had assured her that it was all for the greater good.

The greater good.

Out upon the balcony, under the darkened eerie sky, the very benefactor of her powers stood. At least, it was a form of her benefactor. She was almost envious, really. Power was good, but he exuded a very aura of chaos from his form. It was enough to give Razevi shivers, if she'd bothered to focus on it to any great extent. She slowly sauntered over to him, gazing down upon the battle below.

"Those are my friends fighting," Vika spoke, unheard.

Razevi ignored her. Instead, she spoke outwardly to Soren. "Isn't it great, the realm your alter personality has created? Surely you feel as well as I do the pure, unrestricted chaos attuned to both our forms, raveling around our souls as the finest threads, our own to control. It beckons us, pleads to us, calls upon us to wrap our hands around and guide like the ultimate puppet master. It's nothing short of amazing."

She paused a moment. Razevi hadn't really expected an answer from Soren, instead preferring to survey the battle below. "I think it's about time I intervened. Monsters can only provide so much quintessence. And, the seals grow weak upon this mask. The time is nigh." She climbed upon the ledge of the balcony, turning to face Soren. "I really do thank you for your help, dear Soren. We will speak again."

And with that, a sword materialized out of thin air within her hand. She extended Vika's wings, and she fell backwards off the edge of the balcony towards the ground stories below.

[ X ][ O ]Blossom[ O ][ X ]

Blossom moved closer to Ephraim, attempting to back him up in their fight against the monstrosities that had appeared before the tower. Vezra was a powerful weapon, but it was slow; only Blossom's innate speed allowed her to dodge the strikes aimed back at her when Vezra's aim was off. Her breathing was heavy, but she hadn't sustained any damage beyond the burn all over her left shoulder.

Blossom managed to deflect the demon surge from another Mogall, watching a rune light up on Vezra's blade, and sent back the shockwave into the monster. She used her numbing arm to rub off her sweating forehead, suddenly grateful for the cold air of this strange night-like environment. It was cold, though, and after the searing heat of the desert for so long, Blossom was shaking heavily. At least the fighting keeps it from being too much of a nuisance, she thought as she ran into a dive in order to avoid a powerful demon surge that a naga-like monster was aiming at her.

When Blossom stood again, she turned to look up at the tower, panting. She paused there, peering into the 'night' air. "Something's coming..." she murmured. A few moments later, the figure was clear enough for her to pick out the deep black wings spread wide from the person's back, and Blossom nearly dropped her sword. "Vika...!"

Blossom remembered Vika. They hadn't talked much, but... back in the summer, when the Heroes had attacked, Blossom had met her. Still, Blossom couldn't realize why she was doing this. They hadn't talked much--had she not reached out enough, maybe?--but Blossom would have never pegged her to do this. Never.

"I-Incoming...!" Blossom shouted, raising Vezra's sword to ready herself for the raven's introduction to the fray.

Shaking now, trembling,is a light all alone not a thing to heal the pain...it disappears

-Ephraim-

--------------------

Things weren't looking too good already. Left and right, no matter how many they killed..it just..kept..SPAWNING. He killed a couple more Gorgons, a few Mogells here and there and finally came to a Gwyllgi. This was NOT what he had asked for when he got out of that creature campaign journey.

He dodged another Gwyllgi that came from his right and tackled him against the ground. Ephraim was so close to being bitten if he hadn't brought up his spear in time for it to start gnawing at its spear. This..was NOT fun. The smell of an animal decaying in the middle of the road reeked and the drool..oooh god the disgusting drool! "I've...had it!" He shouted, kicking the monster off of him and pierced his skull while it was on the ground. He huffed, thinking he had gotten used to all this but apparantly not.

"I-Incoming...!"

The lancer looked up, watching the same Raven girl everyone called, Vika slowly approaching them through the air. His spear traveled around his wrist to his palm, preparing himself if Vika had any attacks up her sleeves.

Chaos was an entirely appropriate description of what he emanated. His sundered existence seemed to bristle in response to a chilling arrival, one that did not necessarily frighten him but to some extent captured his fascination insofar as he would express. Only slightly did he acknowledge her approach, scarcely turning his head a few degrees. He had permitted her residence more out of respect than charity, although it would suffice that previous encounters and...interactions had been enough to soften the mage up a bit.

"Yes, children...keep destroying them..."

He heard it (was he supposed to? He was never certain about his own senses any more) but made no remark, keeping his sights on the battlefield steady. His own children were embroiled in a senseless conflict with their visitors. The gargantuan minotaurs, the obsidian-skinned gargoyles, all leaping from their positions to meet their blood-ridden fates. Creatures of Magvel were not exactly his, but they were allies to him nevertheless, and the sight of them dropping to the sands one by one tempted him to turn his nose up. This, he did not do. He opted to endure the suffering that his abominable companions underwent.

Amazing. Well, he couldn't take all the credit. There was something more at work here after all, something deeper, something far more refined and beautiful that churned beneath even these surreal surroundings. The mage remained as impassive and unmoved as ever. The enchantress did present a point: the experience was empowering. To finally be free, omniscient, indomitable, untouchable. At what cost? Every. Single. One. Of course, the many consequences faded in and out, but the benefits were far more constant.

The battle raged across the screens of his eyes, bathed in crimson and rose red. And that battle echoed into itself and produced the memory of another battle, and that one echoed into yet another, and that one into another, and another, and another, and another...

"I think it's about time I intervened. Monsters can only provide so much quintessence. And, the seals grow weak upon this mask. The time is nigh."

This time, he deigned to properly address her with his attention, observing as she mounted the ledge of the balcony.

"I really do thank you for your help, dear Soren. We will speak again."

And then she was gone, spirited off by her forbidden ambitions and impossible aspirations. The woman's reflection fell away from his eyes and into the bloodletting below. Soren found he was really rather fond of this figure, whether it was Vika, the enchantress, or both combined. Tragic figures spoke so clearly to him. And a smile tugged at his lips, teasing, compelling, beseeching. But he did not smile, denying even the godless Night the grace of his mirth.

"Yes," he whispered in tones unfathomable, reverberating down the planes of finest existence, "we will speak again."

Silently, Soren retreated into the tower behind him, stepping back cautiously as though he might suddenly stagger and collapse unconscious. Gradually his form entered the formless murk, blackness greedily swallowing away the further he went, ripping at the pieces of his discordant soul and gulping them down bit by bit. Soon he had completely vanished into the tower to mourn for the children who would perish.

He was too nervous about the fact that she was holding his hand to say anything. He wanted to tell her that she didn't have to apologize. In truth, it was him who assumed the worst. He felt foolish. And she wanted to protect.. him? Abel felt his face grow red, and didn't know what do to. But then she ran off toward the tower, before he even could do anything. She really did have a way with words.

After he watched the view Alihi run for a few seconds, he shook his head and snapped out of it. Now wasn't the time to be dazzled. Others were about to fight, and damn if he was going to let others do more of the work than him. He gripped the hilt of the blade that was on his back, and smiled. "No... it's not a weird thought. We can protect each other." He then ran off at top speed, where everyone else was headed.

When he got close enough, monsters started to appear. "Oh geeze!" Suddenly, a mogall jumped out and started to glow. Being able to quickly react, Abel pulled his blade from his back, jumped into the air, and sliced down, cutting the monster in two.

Another one soon showed up, but Abel didn't notice it in time to deal with it before it attacked. All he saw was a dark beam coming at him, so he swung his blade, and sent a blast of piecing wind at it, which cut the beam in half, and then sliced right through the mogall. "Ha! These things don't stand a chance! We'll get Amara back in no ti- ..What the?!"

He happened to look up, when he heard Blossom yell, and saw something coming down at them. "What is that?!" Is it got closer, he son saw wings and other limbs. "A person?! ...I bet it's her! It must be the one who snuck up on me, at the party, and stole Amara..." Abel growled lowly. "I will make you pay...!"

"Well, deh youths sure got ambition, at least..." She groaned, a little irritated that she was now behind everyone for the first time in the entire mission. "I sappose I can't let dem show me up, now can I?" She sighed. "Well, here we go... Hah!" She held her lance behind her, and darted off herself.

But then she saw something in the sky. "..Eh?" She tried to make out what it was. It seemed to be falling to the ground at a fair speed. As it got closer, she noticed wings. "...So deh thief shows 'erself. Good, now we end dis."

They were getting nowhere with this.

There was a circle of corpses around Roy as he took a knee, his breaths fast yet shaky. His arms felt like iron weights. His legs felt like jello. His entire body screamed of exhaustion. But he couldn't stop here. Not now. There was someone waiting for them inside, and it wasn't just his father. They came here for Amara, after all. He knew there was precious little time left for the girl. The average adult human could go three days without water before they died, in normal conditions. This sure as hell wasn't normal conditions, and they sure as hell did not have an adult that was the victim here. They had to hurry.

He dove out of the away as a demon surge was sent towards where he was kneeling before, only to roll near a Gargoyle that was waiting for him to draw close. The young lord brought his sword up quickly to try to block, but the lance struck with a sweeping motion and the boy was sent flying back a bit, back towards the center of the circle of corpse. He slowly got back up to his feet, his traveller's cloak cut horizontally across the chest area. Gah, it had gotten him pretty good.

Arrows flew from all sides from the various skeletal monsters and the half-beast, half-horse creatures. He dodged as best as he could, but some arrows struck him. One in his shoulder, another in his left leg, a third had grazed his cheek.

"Gnnh!" he groaned, trying to stay on his feet.

The monsters were drawing closer. They weren't going to let him through without a few wounds, were they? He didn't have any intention of going down, not when he had come so far. Not when he had people waiting for him back in Eyris. Not when he had both his Mother and Father waiting for him in separate locations. He couldn't falter now. He could not.

They were closer now. He could hear the faint sounds of combat around him. The others were putting up a fight against the monsters. Well, if they could keep going, he certainly could too. The flames erupted once more around the SoS. He could hear the Gwyllgi growl at him, the fluttering of Mogall wings, the creaking of skeletal bones as they all drew near. The flames intensified. His resolution was made.

The young lord spun fiercely, the cloak kicking sand up everywhere, just as they prepared their attack to finish him. The sword spun with him, flames reaching out all around him. The concentrated flames struck the sand, creating glass. Glass spikes pierces the Gwyllgi that dared lunged at him as raw glass shards pelted the Mogall and skeletons. The flames had forced the lone gargoyle near him to back away to safety, though a long-range burst from the SoS put it out of commission too.

The young lord then took a knee, just as he heard a voice.

"I-Incoming...!"

Roy grit his teeth as he knelt in the center of the circle of glass spikes and monster corpses, looking up at the sky. Now what?!

It seemed as if the kidnapper had made her appearance at last.

"Sounds like a plan..." Alihi said aloud, though Abel was already ahead of her. She began to jog after him, concerned about conserving what little energy she had left.

It was time to end this. It was time to save Amara.

Amara... Can you see me? She raised her rapier, cleanly cutting through what she believed to be a Mogall. Her focus wasn't on the battle around her; it was on the tower in front of her eyes. It was like her body was on auto-pilot, separate from her mind that was screaming soundlessly. Can you here me...? I'm here. I'm here!

Be alright, Amara! Please!!

She breathed heavily, continuing to move. Some part of her body was injured and bleeding, but she ignored it. She wouldn't stop. Her pain was nothing. As long as she could still fight, she would. All that mattered was Amara. All that mattered--

Alihi couldn't hold back her gasp as she saw the winged person descend from above. It's...!

In that moment, something snapped inside her.

"... So, you finally show your face." Her voice was low, venomous, but loud enough that the kidnapper could hear her. She laughed bitterly, grinning darkly up at the person. "I'm glad-- no, absolutely delighted!" Clearly, she wasn't sane anymore; her murderous thoughts were taking over her mind. Amara was still on her mind, though pushed back to a lower priority. This was Amara's kidnapper in front of her eyes. This was the one who threatened to tear her family apart.

This was the one who started all of this. Rage boiled in the tactician's blood. Because of this person, her comforting words were broken. She couldn't protect Amara from this.

The least she could do now was save her.

"It ends here!" Alihi pointed the tip of the rapier right at Vika. "I don't care who you are or what your cause is... you took Amara from me! You will pay!!"

Razevi fell like a hurtling bullet, but as she drew near the bottom of the spire wings flapped, slowing her descent, flipping her around so she would land gracefully. This wasn't her body, but she was tied into Vika's motor system enough that it was not hard for her to control the unfamiliar aviation systems. So she fell closer and closer to the ground until she paused, flapping wings in midair, staring at all of those below her who would wish to kill her. All this, for a child. Really? She would have applauded their camaraderie had they not stood directly in the path of her goals. However, she did not wish to kill them. There was already enough raw quintessence floating about for Bramimond to collect and refine later. But a war at the base of her fortress would hardly be conducive to the spells and rituals that would occur within. They had to leave now.

"Welcome, all!" she called to the bloodthirsty group below. She hovered a fair distance up, so that all could see her clearly but none could reach her with a direct weapon. "You've all been such a great aid to my quest. However, I think it's about time you all left." Her wings stopped flapping, and she fell to the ground below. She remained motionless, but fingers were wrapped tightly around the hilt of her sword, just in case.

[ X ][ O ]Blossom[ O ][ X ]

Blossom instinctively moved back as Vika fell down farther, farther, approaching the ground with astonishing speed. When the woman was easily within everyone's vision, she stopped in mid-air, wings beating powerfully. Blossom couldn't reach her with Vezra's blade--there was no energy stored within the runes at the time, so a long-distance strike was impossible--and all she could do was stare. The uselessness of her entire position tightened Blossom's fingers on the hilt, biting down on her lower lip.

"Welcome, all! You've all been such a great aid to my quest. However, I think it's about time you all left."

Blossom flinched, watching her hit the sand. Blossom moved no closer, but did not retreat, her sword still readied. "...Amara," she said, her voice cracking, but when she spoke up again, it was clear, stronger. "Where is Amara? Alihi's daughter. We want her back."

The Hero paused. She looked at the tower, then at Vika. Where had the bloody trails all over her body come from? Or her voice... Blossom focused on the present, taking a step forward. "Give her back! We aren't leaving without her! We came all this way because you stole her from her mother, and we're getting her back one way or another!"

Ganon was hanging back, air whipping around him as he manipulated the wind around them. Quite suddenly, wind swept up behind Roy and swirled around the Sword of Seals, swirling upward and carrying its flame on through the air with it! There was a certain chill radiating from the bard as he played a new kind of song he was struggling to master: offensive/supportive bardsong. This was bardsong that allowed him to manipulate his environment and support his teammates at the same time, but it was very difficult to maintain. At the moment, it was radiating energy into certain allies who were attuned to it, giving them a boost in combat.

The swirling wind he created began to carry flames from the sword and engulf the corpses that were advancing on the bard, setting them alight and boiling their flesh as he lunged away from their claws. He was panting as he sawed at his violin, fire swirling around him, carried on the air to protect himself.

"... "Left"? You expect me to leave, after coming all this damn way to save my daughter?" Alihi extended her arm, the rapier's tip pointing right at Vika's chest. "... Not a chance." Alihi tilted her head up, looking in the direction that the kidnapper fell from. She had to have appeared from somewhere, right...? Which would logically mean there was some kind of opening.

"AMARA!!" She shouted at the top of her lungs, her throat straining. "WE'RE HERE!!" Maybe, if she screamed loudly enough, Amara would hear. She was a bit desperate at this point for any sort of sign of the little girl's safety; the tactician had to keep convincing herself that Amara was alive, that Amara was alright, that Amara was unharmed.

There was a limit for those kind of words. Eventually, they were not enough to ease a troubled mind.

Alihi's eyes focused back down. Her body was itching to move. She wanted Amara back, no matter what that took. If it meant killing the person in front of her, she'd be slashing Vika's throat in an instant. If it meant doing some task, she'd be performing immediately.

If it meant trading away her own life for Amara's, she'd do it in a heartbeat.

"... Until I get my daughter back... I won't go. You hear me?!" Her arm shook but remained extended. "So... last chance. Give her back."

PostPosted: Mon Oct 26, 2009 8:40 pm

"Yes. I believe that was my request the first time. You see, I'm not quite finished with her yet. To give her back now would be...well, foolish. However, I applaud you for your effort in reaching here. You've already been a great assistance. I can let you leave peacefully now, or I can remove you myself. It's your choice, really." She pointed her own sword at Alihi, her expression almost mocking as masked eyes stared at her.

Roy was taking a breather. It hurt. It hurt. His body was at its limit. And yet his mind would not rest. Not until he had accomplished what was meant to be down. He reached a shaky hand up to his shoulder, then snapped the arrow, leaving the point in his skin. He wouldn't be able to pull the entire arrow out, unless he wanted to be a bleeding messing. Not that he wasn't already. There were a few drops of blood already on the sand from when he was hit by the lance, and a thin line of blood was seeping down his cheek. The hand then snapped the arrow that had pierced his leg, before he shakily got up to his feet, panting.

Ganon had made use of his flame and was using it as a protective guardian of sorts to defend himself with. Alihi and the others were facing the kidnapper. This would perhaps be a good time to heal. His hand reached into his bag and searched around (ignoring the little imp's attempts to bite his fingers) until he found what he was looking for. A blue vial was pulled out of his bag, and he gently applied the healing salve to his wounds. That felt so much better.

With a wave of his sword, the glass spikes around him shattered, and he was free to move again. He then smirked at the kidnapper.

"You know...if this was like those adventure games, wouldn't the final boss be in the tower, not outside of it?" he asked, giving the bird a curious look.

In war, the boss of the area always held the tactical advantage. If the kidnapper was indeed the final boss, why would she be away from her advantage?

-Ephraim-

--------------------

"I am not one to make threats" Ephraim spoke up from behind. Their goal was to bring back Amara..bring her back SAFE. If this..Vika wasn't going to give her back, then take her back by force is what they'll do.

"Unless we have Amara with us, none of us will be leaving. he extended his arms, noting all the people around them that were here for the little girl "Its a simple request, you want us gone? Give us the girl, We're not leaving anyhow" Yes, a very simple request. Needed her for something else? What could Amara have that this person needs?

The answer was the same. Ephraim shook his head, why was it always the hard way? "Not going to make this easy is she?" of course not, things were NEVER this easy in the first place.

Round 2 anybody?

The words of Vika, or whoever it was, echoed through her mind. Alihi gritted her teeth, doing everything she could to not stab the kidnapper in the throat. "... Y-you're... using her?!" She hissed, her eyes locked on the person in front of her. Her hand tightened around the rapier's hilt, her knuckles nearly white. "How... How dare you!! She's a person, not some tool!!"

Calm down! She's taunting you! She wants you to act! You can see it in her eyes!! Her mind screamed. She knew was aware what was happening. The words were effecting her physically and mentally. She couldn't stop shaking. Her mind wouldn't stop conjuring images of a tortured Amara. It was just horrible and unbearable.

But still... A small, cold smirk formed on her face as she twirled the rapier in her hand. "..."

I'll grant her damn wish.

In one fluid movement, with a speed she didn't know she even had, she lashed out, sword dragging up from the hip up to the shoulder. She laughed coldly, returning to a more neutral position. "I'm sorry, but no." The blade whipped around again, this time going for the neck. "I'm not going anywhere!!"
