"Not very far actually," Chococo admitted bashfully. "Why? What did you have in mind?" Sure, the mare could swim, but she generally avoided going too deep just as a safety precaution. After all, when her wings were wet they weighed her down quite a bit. Still, a game could potentially be fun, so she was curious of what the other might suggest.

"I was thinking... what about a race?" She looked around, making marks in her head. "Maybe out to that rock there and back?" She was looking at a large rock that rose above the water, waves gnetly lapping up it's side. "Wanna start on the forest edge? Swim around the rock and then swim back to the forest."

Chococo looked about at the land and water as Angie spoke, mapping out the course in her mind. "That sounds fun, although you will most likely win." With a smile she trotted on over to the starting point, waiting for the other to join her. "On your mark then?"

Chuckling, Angie hurried after her new playmate. "You never know until the end." She got in place, crouching down with her eyes on the large rock, making sure Chococo was ready first. "Get set... GO!!" She jumped from her place with a hollar, trying not to laugh from happiness. It'd been a while since she'd had someone to race with. She was remembering how fun it was.

The moment that her companion shouted "go", Chococo leapt into the water with her wings out-stretched, giving herself a little "push-off." It probably wasn't a very fair move, but once in the water Angie was able to easily overtake her. After all, she'd never really tried racing while swimming before. Still, she determined to put forth her best effort in the endeavor and swam on.

Noticing Chococo's use of her wings, Angie chose to ignore it. Once they got in the water, they had every chance of aiding the brown female as hampering her. She jumped into the water full speed. Once the water was deep enough, she started kicking her legs in the water instead of the slippery sandy floor. About three quarters of the way to the rock, she felt something brush her leg. Wincing, she brushed it off as seaweed, clamping her mouth shut to keep from reacting like she had earlier. The water was no place to panic.

Surprisingly, Chococo wasn't doing as badly as she had originally anticipated. True, she had fallen behind a bit, but no where near as badly as she had supposed that she would. At nearly the same time as Angie however, the chocolate mare felt something trying to attach itself to her leg. They were far too deep in for there to be any seaweed about, and the mare panicked slightly, flapping her wings about as she tried to shake off whatever it was. She let out a frightened cry when she felt several more such things attaching to her legs; she nearly jumped out of the water. "A-Angie, something is on me!" she cried out in dismay, hoping her water friend could advise her on what to do. "I can't shake it off!"

Angie was trying to kick off another suspected seaweed when she heard Chococo call. She paused to look back, then looked down at her own legs, nearly inhaling a mouthful of water when she gasped. Something thin and long was attaching itself to her leg, a few more swimming around her, ready to latch on as well. "They're on me too!" She shrieked. While she had swum through the waters many times, she usually wasn't in this particular area, and had never seen such things. "Hurry! To the rock!" She yelled, swimming as hard as she could to get to the big rock, since it was closer than the beach. A small spot was close to the water, big and flat enough for the two females to stand on. She was sure she could feel the things trying to suck the blood out of her.

Chococo didn't need telling twice. While she may have thought that she had been swimming at full speed before, the sudden adrenaline spike gave her an added speed boost as she swam to the rock.
The mare climbed out as immediately as she could, and whatever had been attaching itself to her was left behind in the water. "Are you alright?" she asked between pants, concerned for her new friend. Just what was that...

Angie reached the rock as fast as she could, gasping by the time she reached it. Climbing up, one blood-sucker simply dropped off, then she had to shake to release the other one. "Yeah, I think so." She gasped out, squinting down at where the suckers had been attached. No blood? "Are you? I'm sorry! I've never seen those before!"

"Yes, I'm fine," Chococo replied with a faint smile, glancing back uncertainly at the water. "... How are we supposed to get back?" Sure, she could fly after her wings had dried, but she wasn't about to leave poor Angie stranded on the rock by herself. "What if they're still there?"

"I... don't know." Angie watched the water with the same uncertain look that Chococo bore on her face. Her hoofed tapped nervously on the rock as she tried to think. "Maybe... well, you could fly back, and I could try taking a longer way back... Go around that way..." She looked hesitantly to the side, to where the water crashed against a distant set of rocks. "I can swim well after all. I could make it..." But she didn't know how far those things would go to make a snack of her.

"But I can't just leave you here like this," Chococo replied with a frown, staring down at the water. "... Perhaps if we both jump in and swim at top speed we'll be able to throw them off? If we kick enough they might not be able to grab hold." It wasn't the best of ideas, but perhaps if their attention was divided between the two of them then they could both make it ashore safely.

Angie flipped her ears back. She felt bad putting Chococo in this position. "That might work. I was kicking when it latched on before though. Maybe we should stick together too. Maybe we'll seem bigger and scare them away."

Chococo nodded in agreement. "Good idea." Carefully, she readied herself to leap back into the water. "I guess on the count of three then? Um, one... two... three!" With a giant splash the two dove into the water, kicking their legs as fast and hard as they possibly could.
(I'm sorry for taking so so long on this. T^T I have no excuse. v.v)
