Spook couldn't help but loose a quick, delighted laugh at the painted stallion's proposal. Ooh, her muscles were just itching for a good workout after being so very worked up in her conversation. "You're on!" If its one thing that Spook liked in a stallion, it was the ability to spontaneously burst into activity. Sure, well-mannered stallions were good to talk too, but that got boring quickly when they refused to rouse themselves for a simple game or race. Obviously Cass was having no problem with the concept though.

The chocolate mare could hardly contain a lunging buck forward in her excitement, arching her back and kicking out wildly behind her. Luckily they had been walking side by side the entire time, otherwise Cass would have gotten a face full of hoof.

By the time Spook transitioned into a galloping sprint, Cass had already bolted forward, but a look of worry hardly crossed her face. Spook wasn't exactly what you'd call one of those dainty, pretty to look at, needs to be protected all the time kind of mares. Her body was fit, compact, and lean with tough muscle working tirelessly underneath her coat. Her love for physical activity, running especially, kept her in top condition throughout most of the seasons. Unfortuanatly though, like any mustang, winter did take its toll on her, and she despised that fact. A good spring season though was really all she needed to get back into shape though.

As she found her stride Spook allowed her legs to extend, increasing her speed with ease. With her blood being full mustang, she appreciated the feel of the grassy terrain racing below her, the wind filling her lungs with the scents of the wild, and the best feeling of them all: full control over herself. Boy did she love it! Yellow eyes trained themselves onto the painted hide of her current companion, not too far ahead of her at this point, and a bit of a grin flitted itself onto her muzzle. Digging her heels in for an extra burst of speed vaulted her close enough to the stallion so that she could reach her muzzle out and a give him a friendly n** on the rump before veering off with a whinny of delight and focusing her attention to the approaching shoreline of the pond.

It was plain as day to anyone who looked upon her features, the flaxen maned mare loved every minute and every stride of the sprint, for her ears pricked with antcipation and her tail was held in a high flag of spirit as they approached the pond.

Cass found himself quite delighted by the sound of Spooks laugh, it had a nice sound that laugh - and Cass was pretty sure allot of other stallions would agree with him on this fact. She'd probably break a few hearts someday, not that Cass had any sort of problems with that, he was just here for a good time after all. That said however - and though he had full intentions to let the mare win if she didn't manage to do that without his help - Cass wasn't about to make it too easy and let out a deep rumbling chuckle as she bucked and lost a bit of ground before settling into stride.

Cass was not an overly large beast, he lacked the lengthy legs and streamlined body he'd seen (and admired) on other horses, but what he lacked in length of leg and lightweight he made up in power, strong hindquarters and short powerful stride threw him forward in a swift sprint. Sure the longer legged horses would overtake him in the long run, but in the short term? well he'd give them a run for their money. Of course the stallion hadn't anticipated on the actions of meddlesome mares and snorted in surprise as the friendly n**, his stride faltering slightly as he threw a glance back at the laughing mare, the expression on his face showing mock fear - as though the now quite focused mare might very well run him down in her effort to get to the pond first. Of course it was all in good fun and amusement flickered across his eyes the effect of which ruined any chance that she'd take his 'fear' look seriously.

By the time he refocused on the pond and picked up his pace again Cass was pretty sure the mare was on the verge of overtaking him.

Indeed she was. Fun and games were great and surely she enjoyed them, but the flaxen maned mare also loved competetion. Anything to challenge her body into pushing her limits further and exerting all the wild energy she held within herself. Of course, that's also what her mother had meant by 'settling down'. Not only did her dam wish her to stick herself with some stallion, she wanted Spook to calm down and act 'mare-like'. The chocolate mare cringed at the thought of doing so. What fun was it to simply stand around all day and gossip about nothing and everything all at once? For all her life was worth, Spook would never allow herself to become such a mare.

The look of 'fear' that crossed Cass' face nearly made her burst into hilarious laughter, especially when the gleam in his eye gave it away for games. "Boy, that look does not suit you Cass!" But it was definatly a laugh riot by any means. She seriously wondered if the stallion had ever shown true fear before, but that thought was quickly shaken off by how close the shoreline was now. In a final burst of what could be leg strength, finely tuned muscles, and a sheer determination to see Cass roll around in the pond all se- erm, stallion like, Spook burst forward once more. Whatever the outcome, it was going to be close.

The pond was swiftly approaching by this time and Cass found he didn't have to worry about 'letting the mare win' or any such nonsense as in a sudden rush of speed the liver hued mare rushed past him, her nose most definitely in the lead, though Cass was not so very far behind. Though he had agreed to roll in the pond should he loose the paint steed was not keen on running full tilt into the water and so put on the brakes at the very last minute, mane whipping forward and muscles bunching as his hindquarters sunk down and his forelegs dug small furrows in he ground as the slid to a stop mere inches from the water's edge, one hoof dislodging a small pebble which fell to make ripples on the other wise calm pond.

As the stallion had suspected the water did indeed look chilly, like the air it had the crisp calm feel and look that promised it would be cold. Good for drinking - he wasn't sure about the rolling bit, but a bet was a bet and far be it for him to back out. Especially when said bet was made to a mare. That wouldn't be very stallion like at all. Turning his head to give Spook an amused look the stallion shook his head slightly. "Looks like you win" He told her with a wink.

Unlike Cass, Spook did not have the foresight to slam on the brakes before coming to the water's edge. That being said, she did stop herself, but not until she realized she had barreled straight into its chilly shoreline. Spook had taken several strides into the pond before she finally found the footing to stop herself, but with that being said her legs and underbarrel were quite soaked from the splashing. A surprised squeal left her before she half reared, half leapt from the pond- she had not expected that!

With a heavy snort she calmed herself enough to notice Casanova standing a good distance from the water's edge, and a wave of embarrisment cascaded over her. That wasn't quite the impression she wanted to make. "Be that as it may, it looks like I was the first one in the water", she huffed, prancing and whipping her tail about an in attempt to be rid of the chill. "You were right though, the pond does feel pretty icy", she laughed a little uncertainly. Yipes, she really hadn't expected that to happen, but that's what happens when one is too focused on the race and not the destination.

Cass watched in amusement as the mare - clearly quite determined to in - continued on past him and straight into the water. The paint stallion hurried to take a fe quick steps backwards as the water splashed back towards the bank. Not that avoiding a splash now would do him any good in the end, but it was instinct more then thought which made him do it. His thoughts on the waters temperature was confirmed by Spooks squeal and quick exit and he had to fight to squelch the laughter that threatened to overwhelm him. Spook seemed to be the type who could take it in good fun - but Cass didn't want to make her feel even more embarrassed.

"Well" He offered with a glance at the pond and a heavy sigh "At least your only half wet" he stated before turning square to the pond in a solemn manner. The cure for embarrassment Cass thought was more humor and so he threw Spook a mock forlorn look. "Farewell my Lady! I shall now brave the depths as required as punishment for my loss. I wish only that you shall remember me fondly should I fail to return from this perilous trip"

She had expected at a least chuckle from the painted stallion, but to her relief he neither burst out laughing nor so much as snickered. Althought that's not to say he wasn't just being polite, after all some horses did have manners. Apparently. Usually not her though. In fact if the tables had been turned and Cass had been the one to go plunging into the water in that fashion, Spook probably wouldn't of withheld in sort of ha-ha on the matter. That being said... it was kinda sweet of him to do so. Not that she didn't already think him charming.

Speaking of which, the little show he was putting on about the pond was quite cute. Despite her embarrassment Spook felt herself be compelled to return the gesture and play along. Damn, must be the weather. She was in too good of a mood today not to play along, and having good company was far better than running into some spoiled herd brat who only had one thing on his mind. Yup, herd brats were the worst to deal with! Spook had gotten into trouble several times while hanging around a herd's territory for too long, and getting spotted by a young stallion who decided it was time to claim a mare of his own. Ha. That never went over well for them, as Spook was not afraid to dish out a face full hoof or a good fight if it called for it.

At least Cass seemed different! He was fun, cheery, thoughtful, and boy did she love his coat. "Oh no!" Spook chirped up, prancing up to the stallion and blocking his way to the pond with her shoulder, looking quite distraut. Of course she couldn't help a smirk here or there, but Spook wasn't a very good actor. "Sir please, reconsider. The pond is far to dangerous, as I've heard many a tale of brave stallions being swallowed up by its icy grasp. You'll never make it!"

Cass spared the 'lady' Spook a forlorn look as she played the part of worried damsel to the hilt, though he did take notice of the smirks that escaped every now and then. Those he deemed were good signs, they meant she was having fun and Cass was a fan of good times no matter how they came about. "But my Lady..." He began casting a reigned look over her shoulder towards the cold still waters "What stallion would I be to shirk a bet now? Surely neither a noble or brave beast...and I simply can't bare the thought of you seeing me in any other light!" He concluded firmly - in the tone he had always imagined knightly characters to use in the old stories his dam had told him as a foal

"You must stand aside and allow me to prove myself true to my word" He continued with a stern nod to his head, although a twinkle in his eye gave way that he really wasn't being serious at all and his tone was all in good fun.

Geez, they were really playing it up now, weren't they? Not that she was complaining, it was just difficult to get into these sorts of play conversations most of the time, and how they got here exactly she wasn't sure. Either way, it was fun and the flaxen-maned mare was definatly enjoying herself. "But sir..." she trailed off, feigning dismay as she cast a glance over to the chilly waters. "Its depths hold vast peril for all those who enter." In truth, the more they played around like this the more she wanted to see the stallion's reaction as he rolled in the pond. Yipes, it really was cold.

As his tone grew firmer, and as Spook attempted to hide another smirk, the mare heaved a great sigh and bowed her head. "Your words speak true to me, I'll let you pass, but only for the sake of your stallion's honor", and with that, Spook backed away so that she was no longer blocking his path to the pond's shore. Goodness, this had better be fast, she didn't know how much longer she could hold such a sad and depressed looking face without bursting into laughter.

Cas gave spook a deep bow as she moved back and allowed him access to the pond, a solemn look remained on his face as he rose "For you my lady!" He announced with a flourish of his head that sent his mane weaving in the - well it certainly wasn't one he would consider warm he though with a slight smirk, this did not bode well for the waters temperature. Of course spook had already confirmed that it was freezing cold and he recalled her reaction upon plowing into it with a slight chuckle.

Well now it was his turn he told himself and giving a half-rear for show Cas started forward, picking his knees up in a flashy manner as he headed into the water. His flashy gait faltered slightly as he reached knee height, Holy dead grass but the water was cold! There wasn't any backing out now however and so Cas continued with a slight grimace on his face and a few ee! and ahh!'s until he was deep enough. turning about to regard Spook for a moment, a look on his face that made it seem like he was facing a pack of wolves..but bravely! and a glint of humor in his eyes the stallion lowered himself to the ground and rolled in the water. It was a short roll...nearly the moment he deemed it sufficient to count as a roll he was leaping to his feet and ashing out of the water with a snort. "That is cold!" He exclaimed as he snorted and pranced in place, tail flicking to send water drops everywhere

She almost felt bad for sending Cass into the chilly waters like she did. Almost, but not quite. It was far too amusing to watch his reactions mixed with their playful show of 'lord and lady' all flowing together. She had to admit though, when he was prancing and showing his gait she couldn't help but keep a keen eye on him; an admiring eye she might add. The stallion just had so much going for him, when it came to Spook's desires. The spotted hide accented with black mane and tail, the friendly personality, the willingness to jump to action and show off- gawd what was wrong with her? Was... was this feeling giddiness?! By the thundergods above was she listening to herself? She hadn't behaved or felt this way since she was a filly! It was absolutely maddening to think a stallion could make her feel like this!

And yet, for the most part, Spook was unbothered by this. Sure. All of that was true and probably the right reaction to have, but the flaxen-maned mare didn't rightfully care. He certainly was handsome, and attractive, and all those other things she had been talking about before but didn't want to list off again. Oh well. There was no problem with thinking these sorts of things, now was there?

As the stallion came rushing out of the water and flicking water everywhere- mainly towards her she might add- Spook snorted in retort and backed up a few steps good naturedly. "Hey, hey! I already knew that", she laughed, making a show of shaking the water droplets off her hide.

Cass snapped his tail one more time before giving Spook an amused look "My bad" He told her in a tone that might have been sincere if the look on his face hadn't given it away as the complete opposite. Now covered in water the air felt quite brisk but with a quick look a the sky Cass was reassured. The sun would soon warm their hides even in the early spring air.

"At least the sun seems to have taken pity on us poor cold, wet creatures" He told her with a warm look on his painted face "It's going to turn into a fine afternoon I believe - which I might add is the wonderful way to end a perfect morning, Its quite lucky I ran into you - you've saved me from the terrible fate of boredom" He told her with a chuckle.

Spook gave a final snort as she shook her mane, the unkempt mess it usually was now puffing out slightly as a few strands caught and tangled in a few places. "Ah, well you see, its totally my life's goal to keep you from being bored", she jested, giving a mock roll of her eyes. He was right about one thing though, the sun would make for a warm afternoon, and she could at least look forward to that little pleasure. The mare's yellow gaze settled back onto Cass as she looked him over once more, not quite bothering to hide it either. After all, Spook found no reason to hide most anything, and often wasn't bothered by 'manners' except for the bare minimum. And usually... that just meant a hello and a name. After that, everything else was considered fair game as far as she was concerned.

"You're right though, a chilly morning does deserve a nice afternoon", she commented, walking forward and craning her neck to look at him sideways, "Keeps things balanced, you know?" That's how nature was anyway. As harsh and unrelenting it could be at one moment, there was always gentle almost nurturing side to contend with it. Spook had a rather large liking toward nature, and often found herself enjoying the pleasures a good day provided about as much as she did a bad one. But that was neither here nor there, as the chocolate mare halted and turned her head toward him once more, pricking her ears in a way she always seemed to do. "So now what? It seems as though swimming is out of the question."
