Uuni stopped to swallow, staring in Avery's direction. She caught on plenty quickly and despite her white skin, paled noticeably.
"Avery," she started up, her voice suddenly serious and her confident joking nature cast to the wind that graced the heights of High Reaches.
"Honestly," she said, trying to vie for herself with a glance towards the Weyr entrance. "Everyone would be able to see us up here. Do you want to get kicked out?"
How hard was it to say 'I don't want to'?. Clearly too hard, and she'd avoid saying it if she could. If she hadn't spit on Her grave before, she was surely spitting on it right now.

Avery didn't show much of a change in demeanor or expression, though her slight smile disappeared throughout Uuni's words and her hands were shaky as she pulled back on her gloves. The cold didn't feel good anymore and her gaze dropped as Uuni gestured down the mountain.
"Yeah, you're right. Silly me." She'd clearly heard what Uuni hadn't wanted to say and the young woman brushed what was left of the snow off her jacket, before walking past Uuni's rock, intending on finishing their hike back down.
"Well, I made it this far, so hopefully I won't die or pass out on the way back. I'm looking forward to that klah." The words were right, but her tone was all wrong, lacking any sort of emotion whatsoever.

Although there was already quiet between them, it stretched out as Avery put back on her gloves. Now what was that symbolic for? It reminded Uuni sorely of the night when everything had sort of fallen apart on Avery's side. Uuni had been sure she was right about love, but now that she was, she really hated the idea.
Really, it was a stupid thing to have, this love.
Taking in a deep breath, she stood and walked over to where the firelizard slept. Picking him up, she made her way back down after Avery and this time kept good pace, staying equal with the girl's shoulder the entire time.
Maybe it was because she was walking fast, and maybe it was because Avery was walking slow.
Either way, she didn't say anything on the way back down, and she gave no complaints or retorts after she'd fetched Avery her klah. It was going to be a long two more sevendays.
