O.o wow

my fiancee and i don't use condoms, which we realise is dangerous. but i'm on the pill. so it's a little safer.

To a certain degree. Planned Parenthood says the Pill is, at max (so when taken perfectly), 99% effective against pregnancy. I've heard rumors of 99.9%, but I've never seen it listed in a study or anything like that, so I quote the "99% statistic".

And there are still people who've gotten pregnant while being on just the Pill. The Pill can fail (or be less effective basically) as well if you are taking anti-biotics, in which case you'd need to talk to your doctor about how they'd affect the Pill.

Your profile puts you at 17, and I'm guessing your boyfriend is about the same age, but if you two really can't afford to have a baby or get an abortion at this point in your lives, then you should be using condoms too. I can speak from experience on that too, because I was on the Pill when I was your age, and after my ex broke up with me, I realized I was very lucky to have not gotten pregnant while dating him (we didn't use condoms very often either).

yeah, for a while we weren't fond of condoms, to be honest it cuts the intimacy level n half. it's like we have to protect ourselves from each others bodies.

what about that implant under the skin? do you have any statistics for that?

To be blunt, that's really too bad. Use them for be preared to deal with any consequences - simple as that. There are condoms you can get which are thinner than normal and are supposed to increase the sensation, etc etc. But if you can't afford to get an abortion or have a baby, then you should be using them.

The Norplant implant I've heard isn't as common in the US. There's information about it in the Birth Control sticky in the Birth Control Subforum.

I'm in Australia, and something like that is supposedly common.

We don't have sex all that often, which lowers the risk a little, but yeah... not much i guess.

still not a fan of condoms, diaphragms, anyhting else. There's just some part of me that rejects the idea. I need to find an alternative that isn't sterilisation, and fast, because we only plan on using condoms when I've been late taking my pill. because the idea is so abhorrent to me, i don't know why.

the sex frequency is dying down anyway. He's too fond if his computer games XD

It occurs to me that part of it may be psychological and part of it may be an allergy.

What condom brand are you using? You may be allergic to latex.

That's what I was thinking, too. I'm allergic to condoms - not sure if it's the spermicide or the latex, but whatever - the few times we used them I just felt so horrible afterwards that from now on it's condom-free for me!

I'm on hormonal birth control. There are plenty of birth control methods out there, you should be able to find one that works for you. Of course, hormonal methods don't protect against STDs, so being able to trust your boyfriend comes into play there too. For people who are allergic to condoms, there are also "natural" condoms that aren't made of latex, so you might want to try those.

Yes, but 'natural' condoms like lambskin don't protect against STDs. They're too porous. They make them out of materials other then latex that do effectively protect from STDs but they do cost more then latex ones.

From what I'm understanding, this isn't an issue about HER discomfort or having issues with the condoms like itching, burning, sores. This is an issue of how she thinks not using them will make sex more intimate, which is a very bad reason to not use them if, as Nikolita always puts it, she can't afford an abortion or the birth and actually raising a child.

Because no matter how many methods of birth control you use or how religiously, as long as you're having sex, there is always a chance you'll get pregnant. But if she's going to take that risk, she shouldn't do anything risky like that horrid rhythm method which works better to help you get pregnant then prevent pregancy or not use condoms because she is showing signs that she's too scared to go the proper responsible route to get birth control. There is no way to get birth control without seeing a doctor and having a pelvic exam first; they are all prescriptions. Doesn't matter if you go to your usual doctor or PP, it will be the same no matter where you go. You have to have a doctor involved.

Stop worry about making someone else happy and worry about your health.

actually, you can avoid the pelvic exams. both my doctors just hand out pills without the exams. I didn't even know you were supposed to get checked efore going on the pill.

kinda wish i had known

You're supposed to have an exam and a pregnancy test before being put on hormonal contraceptives.

I don't remember getting one when I went on the Pill (Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo for me), but I did get one before I was allowed to go on Depo, and I got another one done when I got tested for STD's.

It depends where you live. In PA and in Ontario, you HAVE to have an exam (not a pregnancy test, though). You then have to go back three months after starting the pill for smaller test, mostly it was asking me how I feel and taking my blood pressure.

But I have heard of some states/provinces where a test is not needed, either before or after.

Thank you for all your responces but what can I do to please my man more. Is there any ways that I can do that.

oral sex is good. you should probably have him wear a condom for that, though. (i feel like i'm setting such a bad example XD )

I don't know about that. XD;;; There are weird chemicals on those things. The two times I gotten them in my mouth, they've been really nasty, and my tongue has gone numb for an hour or two. <__<;

LOL! You don't use the same condoms you use for sex, silly! They have special condoms specifically made for oral sex. They come in some interesting flavors. I got to try a blueberry one at one of my women's meetings when I was on probation (if you want to know the story, feel free to PM me). It was so tasty. I was chewing on that thing for the rest of the evening, lol. Just like gum smile

You can use regular ones but don't use lubricated ones! Either get unlubricated and use as normal on a guy or cut them flat for a girl and use them like a dental dam. But yeah you shouldn't be ingesting the lubricant stuff on those.

This is an easy problem to solve.

Make sure it's water-based so that it works with the condoms that you will continue to use if you don't want to get pregnant.

You could use something other than a condom as birth control. Like.. Birth control. I mean, if you're only having sex with your boyfriend, and neither of you have STDs, just go on the pill/patch. Or use a diaphram or a feminine condom.

You could just buy a whole lot of different condoms and lube. Mix and match them until you find the right combination! It's always fun!
