They don't take Gaia Cash because it's a GOLD sink, not a CASH sink.
I believe the new store is evil, but not a trick. It's just a way to get uberly rich Gaians to take some of that gold out of the system.

I was told a million times of all the people in my way D) motivation to get people to play the lottery and spend gaia cash on the winning number pick. Gaians essentially do pay cash for their millions of gold. how I had to keep on trying and get better ev'ry day

Early in the mornings, there are about 15,000 users online at any given time. Keep in mind, this is while most users are commonly asleep.
With 3 gold per page by surfing, it may not seem like a lot. However, combined with the 15,000 users, that's 45,000 gold per page being sent into the system. And it doesn't stop there.
For the first post of the day, users get a whopping 75 gold. Combined with the 15,000 users, this adds up to a total of...
*dramatic pause*
1,125,000 gold being sent into the system, and that's just for their first daily post. And that's not even during prime time.
Chew on that for a while, then think about the effect this shop is having.

The only way one could amke that mcuh moiney that fast is by buyinga bunch of cash shop items.
It's basically an indirect cash shop.
