Yuusa made a faint purring sound in the back of her throat, and chuckled slightly, nodding confidently to dispel her sister's obvious unease.
"Don't worry about me, Skugga, I know what I am doing." She made sure to have eye contact and gazed deeply into her twin's eyes as she continued - without losing her smile: "But there are certain things worth making some sacrifices for, aren't there?"
After a brief pause, she lightly added: "So when will we meet next? It'll be difficult for you to send any message to me, so it's probably better to decide on a day and time..."
For a brief moment, she entertained the idea of bringing a few warriors to that meeting, but something inside her rebelled against the thought. This was between her and her sister, after all... wasn't it? But Skugga had involved an outsider...

Of course. Yuusa always seemed to know what she was doing, didn't she? But Skugga couldn't help but feel slightly annoyed by her sister's constant showy competence. Sacrifices. Yes, they all made sacrifices, didn't they? Some more than others.
"Next time the moon is new," she decided, intent on adding some of her military experience to this harebrained plan, "Dark enough to remain unseen but still enough light for us to see."
She might not be the most experienced warrior out there, but she did have more experience than Yuusa, and if her sister wanted to meet her again they better try to get away with it. Wheter she would manage to locate the cub or not remained to be seen, but she would at least keep her eyes open as she had promised.
"Until then we are enemies," she said, holding the gaze of her sister, and there was an edge to her voice that hadn't been there before, "If we meet as Mizimu and Dhati I might have to kill you."
Their brief truce was coming to an end, and Skugga moved restlessly, apparently eager to keep patrolling.

Skugga's last words put Yuusa back in perspective of what she was thinking. Her ears drooped back a bit as her righteous anger tried to fight back a surge of shame and sadness.
How had they come to this? Where had everything gone so wrong? Despite Skugga's maturity, and even in spite of her own hunger for revenge, for a brief moment Yuusa once more saw her sister as the cub she had once been. A happy, smiling cub, who had always depended on her. They had loved each other once. And, though it made her insides twist with discomfort and pain, they still did. Somehow.
But that was also exactly why they must end this, and the dark beast inside her reared and roared at that thought. She looked away, unsure of what her sister might see in her eyes if she kept looking into them, and nodded solemnly.
"I know," she said quietly, and hesitated for a moment, searching for words that just couldn't come. Then she nodded and turned away, still unable to look back at her sister.
"Until next time, then."
