~)Sue(~

Sue was delighted to see that Ninian was safe, even if it did seem she got a little bruised from being lost in the wilderness. It was a good thing that Loch, the Heron Sage found the dancer before any wild animals reached her. Sue's own duties, like selling her bows and training with both weapons kept her from visiting her half-dragon friend.

What floored her was the waitress clothes. She'd known Ninian to be a shy person... so maybe this job was to help her be more open? "Ninian... it's good to see you. Ah... I heard this place had just opened, and I wanted to try the pies. Tea would be nice too." She smiled, not thinking of any better greeting for a proper reunion.

Blossom smiled brightly at Ninian, paying no mind to the bandage taped over her eye. She had seen her a couple of times in trips to get herself or Clang or Chickenwire patched up--neither of those two seemed to believe in using wooden training weapons when practicing their swordsmanship or helping Blossom learn how to use her axe more efficiently, it seemed--but Blossom asked no questions. She knew well that some topics were ones that didn't need their scars yanked open, the scabs ripped off just to expose the truth that lay below; it wasn't ever as pretty as you hoped.

"Hi, Ninian," she chirped. She shook her head to the question, tapping the eraser of her pencil against her blank pad. "No, no one else is here so far. Just Hatmon and Ganon. Kris should be around here somewhere..."

It was about at that point that Ganon started to tune his guitar, singing quietly to himself as he perfected the sound of each string. Even as one note rang sour, Blossom listened to the noises in a calm happiness, glad to have the company. This really was a good choice to make. She'd earn more money and be able to stay home more often, closer to Aidan and her friends, and-- Hey wait, Lyre!

Blossom waved energetically at Lyre. If she had a tail like the cat laguz', it would have been really moving. "Hiya, Lyre!" Blossom called out to the woman. She turned her eyes towards the kitchen, hearing some noises from within there--and was that Kris' voice, or someone else's?--but then Sue arrived, and it was time to work.

"Hi! Welcome!" Blossom waved, but she was ignored in favor of Sue watching Ninian. The blue-haired woman looked disconcerted at seeing the green-haired nomad, and Blossom frowned. No, this should have been a happier meeting than this, why did Sue look confused and Ninian almost... frightened? Blossom nudged Ninian in the side, noticing Ephraim take a seat off to the side.

"Calm down, she's your friend, isn't she?" she whispered. Blossom then hurried over to the teal-haired lancer, ruffled skirts and ribbon-tied sleeves rustling along with her.

Blossom came to an abrupt stop a few feet from Ephraim, pencil poised over her pad. "Welcome!" she told him, eyes bright. First customer! First customer! This is so cool! "My name's Blossom, I'll be your serv-- waitress, right! What would you like?"

A soft clicking was made as Sophia’s shoes tapped lightly against the cobblestone while she walked down one of Eyris’ roads. It had been a while since she had been outside the castle, and she was looking forward to finding a suitably relaxing way to spend the afternoon. Though she had only caught bits and pieces, rumors of a new café that was opening today had even reached the castle and she thought it couldn’t hurt to check it out. Being that today was the grand opening it was sure to be filled with people. Sophia wasn’t one for big crowds, but crowds meant she probably knew at least a few people that would be there.

As expected, the Hostess Club was bustling with activity. It was so terribly busy, Sophia wondered if she could even get a seat. Kindly excusing herself from the waiting line, she wandered around, weaving between the tables, hopeful at finding anyone she might now from past guild events. She wasn’t an incredible social kind of gal though, so her chances were slim, but she remained vigilant. Her hopes were answered when her lavender colored eyes landed on a familiar lord.

He had already been approached by a waitress though, and for a moment Sophia debated if she should still approach the man. No, Sophia… it’s not too late, she’s just taking his order. Mustering her courage, she clenched her hands tightly together before walking over to greet the two. “Um, i-if it’s not too much trouble… may I sit here as well?”

User ImageLong commutes were hard and irritating.

Alihi sighed under her breath, trying to remain out of sight as much as possible, tugging slightly at her skirt. Despite her daughter's begging to stay in Eyris, she did find herself back at that lakeside village, where she currently lived with Amara and Abel. She didn't bother making a huge deal out of it; after all, it really wasn't. It wasn't like she'd never return to Eyris. In fact, that was part of the reason she decided to become a waitress. The tactician wanted an excuse to stay connected to the ones that she knew. Another reason was money; raising a child wasn't cheap and she needed all the money she could get.

The distance she had to travel, though, was going to be hard. But she'd deal with it. She'd have to deal with it to keep the job! A small, bright smile came to her face and she quickly looked around the cafe, eager to start working. No more standing around for this person! She nearly froze when she saw Ephraim, the one that Amara loved so fondly, but she shook it off quickly.

Alihi headed over to the table where Ziaram sat. "Welcome!" Her smile softened as she spoke. "I'm Alihi, and I'll be your waitress today! Are you ready to order?" She, like Blossom, held a small pad of paper and a pencil in her hand, ready to jot down whatever Ziaram requested for.

Ephraim looked up from the menu and down back at it "If I may" he started until Sophia came into view and asked if it was alright to sit here. Actually to be honest, Ephraim was more then happy to see Sophia here.

He smiled "No, not at all. I'd be delighted to sit with you" offering the lavender hair'd girl a seat across from him. It was a table for two anyhow, worked out for the best. Since Sophia was now here, gives them more time to look at the menu a little. "We'll take two glass of water for now, give us a little more time?" not sure what Sophia wanted at the moment, perhaps water for now would be the best bet before they finalized their menu order.

~Ninian~

Ninian flushed slightly, a little embarrased as Blossom brushed past her, whispering quietly to her before dashing over to serve one of the other customers. Of course Sue was still her friend, right? She took a deep breath, taking a moment to recover, before she began again.

"Yes, we've only just opened today. We have an assortment of pies: apple, apple and blackberry, chocolate, cream, and toffee What would you like? I'll get it, and some tea for you, while you find a seat. Is herbal tea alright?" She paused, waiting for Sue's response.

After looking at the menu for a bit, he then looked up at Alihi and greeted her with a smile. "Can I get some biscuits and some water?"

Blossom smiled brightly and nodded, gesturing for Sophia to sit. "Two waters for now? All right. That should only take a minute. I'll be right back!" Blossom tucked her pencil into the wire loops holding the pad's papers together and rushed towards the kitchen. She walked right in, whether or not Kris would have allowed her to enter.

"Just getting a water for Ephraim and Sophia," Blossom said cheerily, moving to the counter. In just a few minutes, Blossom had the pad and pencil tucked into a pocket of her apron, holding a glass of water in either hand. She then nudged her way out of the swinging door and scurried back to the lancer and druid, being careful not to spill a drop of water.

"Here you are!" Blossom said, smiling. She set down one glass before each person. "Wave for me later when you want to order something else, okay?"

The cold glass of water sat in front of him and Sophia, almost in between. He picked it up, taking a sip and placed it back down on the table. "I haven't seen you since the wedding, how are things?" He didn't know where to start. It'd been months since the two had actually talked and the last time they saw each other, converse wasn't made. Well, actually, one can't really talk in the middle of a battle and they were up against Loki if the prince recalled.

Ephraim tapped the side of his glass cup. His attention returned to the small menu in front of him. "How about something to eat?" He asked, holding the menu up to the girl, a soft smile across his face. There wasn't anythign in particular he wanted to order, but that scone he smelled earlier..oh he sure could order that but the menu itself listed a bunch of dessert which led him to be undecisive about ordering anything.

The place itself was starting to get lively by a smidge, people were slowly coming in. Even though the cafe had just opened, it sure caught the attention of many.

Sue was listening to the options of the pies, but she did tell Ninian she wanted herbal tea. For some reason, the dancer looked nervous. It was understandable on the first day of the job, anyone in a new profession started out a little... rocky.

The nomad cheerfully put a hand over her shoulder. "Relax, you're doing great." She encouraged. "And..." she remembered of course that Ninian was at work, and backed away to take a table. "I'd like herbal hot tea... and a slice of apple pie."

User Image After waking up to the voices of people coming from downstairs, Aruna slowly rolled out of bed, which was just a few feet from the door. Letting out a small yawn, she slithered over to the full-sized mirror next to a dresser on the opposite side of the room. The nagini gazed at her reflection noticing her beautiful crimson hair was a complete mess. She grabbed her conveniently placed hairbrush from atop the wooden dresser and began stroking the tangled red strands.

“Why must it be so noisy,” she asked herself before pausing. “Oh wait. Today is opening day. I must have woken up late.” No matter how bright the sun was, this snake woman could sleep at any time she wanted; as long as she was comfortable and tired enough.

Aruna glanced at a black ruffled dress draped over the back of a chair. “Suppose I should get ready for my new job,” the half reptilian lady said, setting the brush down. As she moved towards the maid garment, she untied the silk sash around her waist and let it fall to the ground without a care. Next Aruna stripped out of her top then threw it down. The pearl straps made a clacking sound upon impact with the floor boards.

Finally reaching her uniform for the day, she picked it up and wiggled her way into it. Surprisingly, the clothes fit decently. It was a little tight in the chest area, but Aruna could live with it. Hatmon was generous enough to provide her with the work dress. It would have been rude to complain about a minor discomfort when her new employer gave her so much; a temporary place to live, a waitressing job, a small new wardrobe, and a meal. Well, maybe she will say something to the chimera when she gets a chance. Perhaps it wouldn’t be any trouble. Of course not. No trouble at all.

The female naga slithered back to the mirror. Placing her right index finger on her ruby lips, she looked intensely at herself. “Hmm... It’s missing something.” Aruna opened the top drawer of the dresser and yanked from it a violet medium-sized cloth bag. This housed quite a few of her accessories and jewelry. She pulled out a white and black laced headband and matching choker. “Perfect!” These will compliment the maid theme quite nicely. Unclasping her pearl necklace, Aruna replaced it with the thinner choker. Afterwards she set the decorative band upon her head and adjusted it slightly. “Absolutely adorable,” the woman giggled as she posed for the mirror.

“Now let us see what all the commotion is downstairs.”

Aruna traveled outside “her” room and to the steps leading downward. Gripping the handrail tightly in order to maintain her balance, the nagini slid her spotted serpentine tail very slowly down one step at a time. Stairs were very annoying to climb/go down without legs; humans made it look so easy. Although this was a trial she would just have to overcome if she was going to start living in the lodging half of the café. “Ugh. Finally,” she muttered under her breath as she reached the ground floor. Honestly, the number of steps weren’t many.

Venturing to the kitchen first, the snake woman intended to find her furry boss, Hatmon. “Hm. She doesn’t seem to be in here,” Aruna thought as she looked around. Suddenly her gaze fell on a certain blue-haired chef whisking some cake frosting and staring out a window at the dining room. This person seemed familiar for some reason. Like she had encountered them before back when she worked for a herbalist, Dr. Solomon the so called medicine man. Was this human the same one who impersonated the “good doctor” and had tried to trick her into handing over some of their popular medications? The only way to confirm her speculations was to actually speak to the cook.

“Excuse me,” Aruna addressed to Kris. “Forgive me for interrupting.” Unexpectedly, she began to lie. “I am a bit new here. Who do I report to for the waitress job?” In the back of her mind, she knew exactly what work she should be doing at this moment in time. However, the scaled one wanted to experience Kris’s reaction to her presence. Perhaps he would recognize her too. It’s not like there are a lot of nagas slithering around Eyris or even Learania for that matter.

Smiling sweetly, she waited for a reply. Her yellow serpentine eyes inspected the head chef’s every move.

Derrin shuffled into the building hurridly his arms filled with scrolls and books not paying much attention to his surroundings he glanced around quickly and spied an open table. Rushing over he layed everything on the table that was obvously ment for a large group of people. By himself Derrin spared a glare at anyone who looked his way and sat down his purple robes flushing out underneath him. Lazily signalling a waitress with one hand he lifted the menu with the other. He only scanned it quickly before he decided what hed order and set the menu back down. Looking around he relized that none of the waitresses had reached him in the 0.5 seconds since he had signalled. "Typical." He muttered. "At least I managed to escape from the fool and his crazy plan to join the guard.. Heh me in the guard." He began drumming his slender fingers on the table impatently.

"Perhaps this was the wrong place to come and study.." Derrin thought looking at the clientelle... They all looked so damn cheerful. He didn't have time to be cheerful. He needed to find his way back home and fast. Ever since he found out about his condition he knew he didn't have much time to do so either.

And the bloody waitress still hadn't noticed him.

Blossom watched everyone in the cafe for a few minutes, her smile bright. Ephraim and Sophia seemed content to chat over their water, and Ninian would hopefully warm up again to Sue as she took the plainswoman's order. And now Aruna was here! Even better! Blossom waved to the nagini and smiled warmly, but didn't speak. She was busy talking to Kris now, anyway. Blossom hummed and tapped her pencil's eraser to her pad as she watched everyone moving around the cafe.

Wait, had a new person arrived?

Blossom stood up straight again and trotted over to the man drumming his fingers onto the table. He sure looks impatient...

"Hi, welcome!" Blossom said, her smile still present. She put her pencil against the pad, rocking back and forth just slightly as she watched the man at the table. "My name's Blossom. What would you like?"

~Ninian~

Ninian smiled shyly at Sue's encouragement. She really wanted to do a good job on her very first day of work.

"Alright; one herbal tea and one slice of apple pie," Ninian repeated, making sure she'd heard Sue correctly. "I'll get that for you right away." For such a simple order, Ninian decided not to waste any of the paper on her pad to write it down.

As Sue turned to make her way to a table, Ninian headed for the kitchen. The little café was quickly filling up with customers. She carefully dodged tables and a few chairs, both empty and occupied, and ducked through the kitchen door. Looking around, she saw Kris the chef stirring a bowl of what appeared to be pink icing. He was not alone; a . . . half woman, half snake . . . stood?--was next to the chef, her eyes watching him. Slightly afraid of this person who, judging by the apron, could only be another waitress, Ninian hesitantly stepped closer.

"Um, e-excuse me, K-Kris?" she began slowly. "I--I have an order from a customer--one slice of apple pie." She glanced warily at the woman--snake lady?--before searching for Vika, who was in charge of drinks. When she did not see the raven, she asked, "Is Vika here? I have an order for a drink as well."

She fell silent, waiting for the chef to respond.

Manakete Kris

PostPosted: Sun Sep 27, 2009 6:07 pm

Kris’ gentle whisking of the icing came to a sudden stop as the light swishing sound of the door opening and closing hit his ears. It was probably another waitress, well actually, it damn well better be a waitress! The manakete just couldn’t have customers entering his kitchen on a whim. No, no, if such a thing happened he’d make sure Ganon had the poor soul flying through the nearest window. Still, even though, even though it didn’t really concern him much, if at all, Kris liked to know who entered his domain and when.

Angling his head, he cast his gaze towards the door, right onto the nagini who had entered and who was now approaching him. Drat Without looking suspicious he turned his head back to the bowl in front of him as his face contorted into a grimace. Aruna might or might not have remembered Kris, but he sure remembered her. Either way, talking to her was dangerous, but it provided an opportunity to stir up some trouble for Hatmon; Kris had always been a big fan of trouble.

Placing the bowl down on the table in front of him, Kris snatched a light blue bowl scraper out from one of the drawers. As her turned to face Aruna, his grimace transformed into a small smile, “Oh, no, think nothing of it. You report to Hatmon, who ought to be in the other room. If you’ll wait just a moment, I would be more than happy to fetch her for you.” Before departing to find the mentioned chimera, Kris twisted his hand and using the spatula scooped up a small amount of the strawberry icing. “Here, why don’t you give this a taste for me, while you wait, hm?” He offered the scraper to the woman before turning his attention to Ninian.

“Right away,” Kris chirped, as pulled out a pie knife, before sliding over to the insulated storage place that housed the warm baked goods. While pulling one of the pre-cut apple pies out and placing it on the nearby table, he readied a plate next to the tasty treat. With a practiced motion, Kris transferred one of the slices from the pie dish onto the plate before handing the plate off to Ninian. “In the future, if you’re in a hurry, or if I’m not around, you’re more than welcome to help yourself. Just remember the warm foods are here,” Kris said while point at the insulated storage place as he put the pie away. “And the cold ones are here.” He pointed at the ice box this time, which was kept next to the insulated storage place for convenience.

“Drinks aren’t kept, or made here, that’s handled solely at the bar.” Kris’ finger once again changed directions, this time it pointed at a door that connected the bar the kitchen. “Vika ought to be attending to the bar as usual, unless business took her away for a moment.” A smile passed over Kris’ lips once more to show he wasn’t trying to be anything but helpful. “Now I have a promise to keep, so I shall be sending Hatmon this way once I locate her,” with those parting words, Kris escaped the confines of the kitchen to locate his furry little friend.
