Rivener looked up when Kenth entered again, but the Scorpion didn't for a second consider getting up to offer the chair to the doctor. Red eyes simply focused up on the man from where Riv sat, one clawed hand reaching for the prescription and memorizing the warnings and directions before pocketing the piece of paper. "I don't think he's ever been allergic to anything before, but I'll keep an eye on him."
Rivener had thought that would be the end of that, and the white-haired doctor would go back to whatever he'd been doing before the two Delarans got here, but Kenth surprised him by suddenly speaking up about their method of getting here. Riv flicked his eyes over at Aphi accusingly for an instant before sighing with clear stress. "NO, he drove himself, the idiot. I had to keep waking him up and yanking on the wheel to keep us both alive. I am NEVER letting him do that again; once he wakes we'll be taking a cab home. Although to be honest, doc, he might sleep all day. Maybe it'd be best if I just took him home now... I can easily carry him out to the taxi when it gets here. Would that be okay?"
The thought of being HERE all day, bored and looking out a window, did NOT appeal to the Scorpion. Especially since he was due at work at 5pm...

Kenth sighed quite heavily this time. This patient of his was really an idiot! Okay, he could blame everything on the flu, but still, Kenth suspected he wasn't that bright when he was healthy. The doctor shifted a little uncomfortably. He would be more than willing to let Aphismet leave, as he was not planning to stand here and stare at him sleeping all day long. Yet, there was something he really need the human to do. Rivener may be responsible and more like a guardian, but human laws cannot include him.
"I cannot let him sleep all day." Said Kenth with a frustrated tone. "A little break for him is enough, the drug's effect would wear off, and he'd need to wake up after that." He looked over at Rivener, who looked just as impatient as he was. Kenth felt the raevan was unwilling to stay here too long either, considering this was not the most interesting place in the world. "I will call a cab. How long has it been after he took the medicine today? I can't let him go yet, not before he co-paid the appointment fee." Assuming the man had medical insurance, that is.

Riv lifted an eyebrow at Kenth. This was the doctor's office, and he could do whatever he needed, but forcing Aphi to wake sounded rather cold. At least the man acquiesced to let the white-haired chef rest for a few hours... By then hopefully the idiot-chef would be able to function a little better when awake.
"He took the pills when he woke up, around three hours ago. As for paying, he does have medical coverage. I can get his wallet and take care of it now, if you want." Riv floated back to standing height, moving over to Aphismet's jacket to fish out the wallet from earlier. "Unless he needs to sign for something or whatever?" Ruby eyes flicked back to the doc, Riv pausing in his wallet-rifling.

"Three hours..." If the substance he assumed as in the medicine, the man should be waking up in an hour or so. Kenth shook his head. An hour seemed long, even if he could endure it, the doctor was not sure the raevan could. Rivern seemed adamant about leaving soon, even volunteering to pay for Aphismet so they could get out and go home. Kenth played around with the idea of making up a sky-high number and let the raevan pay for it. He watched as Rivener fishing through the patient's wallet and shuffling through its contents. For a moment the doctor felt sorry for his patient, to be so helpless when someone else dug through his possession. He made a mental note to tell his future raevan to never touch his belongings without his permission.
When Rivener finally seemed to register what Kenth was implying he automatically nodded, ice-blue eyes met with flame colored eyes, only to find those actually flaring with some kind of expectation. Kenth quickly shifted his eyes away and looked over at Aphismet. "There are three ways to pay. By cash, by credit card, or by bill." He turned to the raevan again, wondering if Rivener knew about the system. "The first two methods require the patient's signature, the last...will require his billing address. Your guardian is a new patient, so I don't have the record on hand. His first appointment, this one, was meant for me to receive recent information about him, but..."

Rivener shrugged and folded the wallet again, stuffing it back where it belonged in Aphi's pocket. "By bill might be best for now, unless you really fancy keeping a comatose chef in your ward. If it's legally acceptable, I can fill out all that information for him, short of any social insurance numbers or what have you. But his home address, phone number, work address and number, birthday, next of kin... All that, I know. I do live with him, after all." The Scorpion propped a fist on his hip again, turning to face Kenth expectantly. It's not that Rivener was in a hurry right NOW, but the more time passed here the less Riv wanted to stick around. He'd rather go home. And besides, Aphi would be more comfortable in his own bed, wouldn't he?
"So are we doing this, then?"

"The medicine effect should past in less than an hour." Kenth replied shortly, indicating that he could still endure for another hour before waking Aphismet up. "And for the bills," He eyed Rivener, not all amused by how much the raevan knew. "I only need the billing address. The other information are not related to payment." Even if he did need them, Kenth was not planning to let Rivener fill out the patient's information for him, considering Aphismet would have to look over them and ultimately, sign his name on the papers anyway. The doctor rubbed against his temple. Great...even when he's unconscious, the patient was still so troublesome!
"What I can do is to have you tell me the address and let you two leave for now. However, your guardian will need to make another appointment as soon as possible so I can get the rest of his information. These information need to be looked over and signed by him, so you can't do it here." For now, this seemed like the most viable way of resolving things. "I'm going to head to my office. Follow me if you want to do this. Otherwise, we can wait until we can wake him up."

Rivener crossed his arms as he watched the doctor, REALLY watched him for once. Riv knew how to tell people's demeanors rather well, having watched actors doing it for the main part of his younger days. He knew how to tell what people were feeling, when it wasn't very purposefully hidden. THIS man, for instance, was not all that pleased about Rivener's apparent involvement with Aphismet. And he was also not pleased about having to do his job if it didn't go absolutely smoothly.
And, Riv noted with more than a little annoyance, this man wasn't all that pleased with letting Rivener do much of anything on Aphi's behalf. That might just be for legal reasons, Riv told himself before he became too defensive. At any rate, Rivener's final opinion on this doctor finally took form. A good doctor, knows what he's doing, but not particularly nice or pleasant. The Sigel supposed those last two traits were not NEEDED for a doctor to do his work, but it probably explained the empty waiting lobby.
"I'm comin'," Riv answered, following the man with a shrug. "I guess I can do all that now and take Aphi away: he can check things and sign crap and whatever when he comes back for his car in a few days. I hope that'll be okay." By Rivener's tone, he expected it was fine: Dr Lavine didn't seem to be a busy man. Which brought up another question as Riv followed to the office. "...What do you DO all day? You're obviously not all that busy. ...Must be bored stiff."

Kenth expected the raevan to follow him, so he left the door open and waited outside. "That's fine." the doctor nodded, "he can take his car away whenever he wants, this neighborhood is quite safe." For his own comfort, Kenth added a lot more security measures in his clinic when he was not running it. The parking lot, however, was not owned by him, and was shared by several other stores and business facilities near his clinic. Kenth himself did not own a car, so his clinic never had a parking lot to itself. In other words, he could care less about when or how Aphismet's car was put into the parking lot and taken away.
Stepping out of the patient area Kenth led Rivener to his office. All the other raevans never had the privilege of being allowed into Kenth's office, it was a sign that the doctor thought Rivener to be human enough. To the raevan's question Kenth merely shrugged, "I have other things to do." He didn't bother to talk about his projects and papers and occasionally, various requests from the science research field, though he believed Rivener would not be very interested in those things anyway. Entering the office, Kenth quickly pulled out a folder from one of the cabinets, and picked out a single billing information form and put it on the desk, handing a pen to the raevan.
"Fill out the information on here, don't worry about the signature for now."

Other things to do? Things that probably didn't pay, like hobbies, right? If there were hardly any clients, how did this guy keep the clinic open? ...Hm, he must have other income, or won the lottery or something. None of it really mattered, so Rivener discarded that whole train of thought. Riv was not aware that being allowed into the doctor's office itself was a privilege, so he acted as he did in the other room: glancing around, taking it all in. This room felt more lived-in than the other, but not by much.
The paper was suddenly produced and a pen was handed over, drawing Rivener's attention back to the task at hand. "Mhm," Riv agreed quietly enough, taking the offered pen and bending down to write in tall, broad, readily legible script. He knew the address well and it was completed in thirty seconds at most, Rivener pushing the paper back over with the pen on top, cap placed back on.
"All done, I believe. If you don't mind calling us a cab?" Rivener didn't know any cab numbers, and for some reason he assumed Kenth would have a phone book. "I'll go back to keep an eye on Aphi. He's likely to slide off the damned gurney if no one's there to stop him."

Kenth had his chin supported by the back of his hands, and elbows rested on the desk. His eyes focused on the raevan, writing diligently in front of him. The doctor watched with curiosity as Rivener finished filling out the form proficiently, with handwriting that one could almost consider beautiful. This raeven must have been old, that, or the guardian was really good at teaching Rivener (Kenth had his doubts about the latter). The thought once again amused Kenth. Was he judging the raevan's ability by age, something commonly used on humans?
Seeing the raevan handing back the documents, Kenth slide the papers easily back to the folder and nodded at Rivener's request. It was common for patients to come and go by taxi, although one way trips did not occur as often. However, to prepare for cases of emergency, Kenth kept phone numbers from the transportation company. "Second door on your left when you go to the patient area." He reminded the raevan of Aphismet's location, and proceeded to call a cab for his sleeping patient.
"Hello? I'd like to rent a taxi please...in Barton, stop in front of x street, number xoxo..."

Rivener nodded as he was given instructions to return to the patient room, but he didn't move until he saw Kenth pick up the phone. From out in the hall, the Scorpion heard the man ask for a taxi. Hopefully it would be here soon. Shaking his head in annoyance at how complicated this all was, Riv returned to Aphismet's side and carefully picked up the man bridal-style, making sure not to stab into the man with any sharp accessories.
Slowly, quietly, Rivener carried Aphi back out into the waiting lobby. From the window he could watch the street and see when the taxi would pull up: until then, Aphismet was deposited carefully on the closest chair. Riv rustled his wings and turned one eye towards the doctor's office, wondering if that was it. Would there be more questions? For some reason Rivener felt like something was left unsaid, but he couldn't for the life of him figure out what it might be. Strange.

It was only a matter of time before the taxi arrives to pick up his unconscious patient. Kenth watched as Rivener carried Aphismet out of the door. When the Raevan was out of the sight Kenth sighed and sat back down, trying to absorb what he had observed. Although really, the non-human creature acted nothing more than a human. Rivener was a little bit different from other Raevans in that he was more...complete. Was that how Raevans grow? Perhaps eventually, a Raevan could turn completely human...or human like? The doctor rubbed at his temples. Magic...something he could never able to explain with his knowledge in science.
The sound of vehicle stopped his thought process. It must have been a while, Kenth thought---that or the taxi came quicker than he had imagined. The Raevan would be more certain of whether or not the taxi had arrived. He stood up and walked out of his office, watching through the lobby window as the yellow cab pulled through the clinic's driveway.
"The taxi's here." Kenth made a rather unnecessary comment to Rivener. "Remember what I said before, get him my prescribed drug, and get him to rest well." The doctor raised an eyebrow, amused by the words he just said, the fact that he was actually placing trust on a Raevan. He briefly remembered the last Raevan that was able to take care of a human...but the human was a mere child. Aphismet was different and older, yet...
He felt like he could trust Rivener at the moment. At least, he trusted the Raevan more than his guardian.

Rivener had spotted the taxi already when the doctor mentioned its arrival. With a grunt of agreement, the Sigel picked up Aphismet and headed for the door, red eyes glancing at Dr Larine. "I remember. I'll do all that, don't worry. He'll be fine." Some image his guardian was making, but it couldn't be helped, as sick as Aphi was. "Could you open the door for me please?"
After the door was helpfully opened, Rivener floated outside and headed for the taxi, ignoring the look of surprise on the driver's face to see a half-bodied demonic-looking thing heading towards it. He'd probably seen odd things more than a few times, working in Durem.
The Delarans were both safely tucked away into the yellow cab, and it drove off with instructions on how to get them home. Riv sighed and frowned out the window at the doctor's office, still trying to place what it was he felt so odd about... He'd best remember that doctor, the Scorpion figured.
