"Holy . . . crescent moon"? Adam snorted despite himself at the silly exclamation and the even sillier reasoning behind the apology. This guy didn't think that the bird would get so aggressive? And here Adam thought that the wolf had some measure of intelligence behidn the whole operation! Then again, this was the same wolf who figured stickign a pup up a tree would be more than enough to handle a bird. Pfft. Adam was surprised Sherlock hadn't deduced his disabilities yet; in a way, he supposed, that meant that it wasn't blatantly obvious at first that he was disabled in more than one way.

Still, none of that made the indentions from the pecking hurt any less, and the pup grunted with no voice as he got to his feet, wincing a tad. Note to self: don't climb trees. Walking him home was pointless, as technically neither he nor Kalama had a home anymore, so Adam tried to locate the direction of the voice and shook his head. The failrue of hte mission stung his pride, however, and he swung his muzzle to glare darkly at the cackling avian as it taunted them from above. Maybe if they gave it one more try, the thing would shut up . . .

Kale seemed assured that the pup was indeed just fine and had turned a good measure of his attention back towards the tree - originally he had wanted to plunder the nest while leaving it intact for future excursion as well. But...now he just wanted to beat the bird.

Glancing back at the pup right after he made the offer to walk him home Kale noticed that the little fellow was shaking his head no....at what appeared to be a bush. Kale could have bit himself when the realization clicked in his mind, the pup was if not completely blind most certainly a little blurry sighted...which explained a lot of things in this endeavor he supposed, and after a few moments thought he deduced that the fellow couldn't speak either - since he had yet to hear a word uttered.

"Oh" Kale remarked after a few moments "I mean...you can't speak can you?..or see really..." That was interesting and Kale padded closer to nose the pup and peer at his eyes...Kale had never met a blind mute wolf before.

Feeling the other's hot breath closing in on him, Adam had a moment of personal space invasion and backed away, flattening his ears and returning the nosey guy with an indignant look. Adam just wasn't a very easy pup to please sometimes. One day he might feel happier if a wolf would inquire about his disabilities, the next he'd get angry and see derision behind the words that probably weren't there. Today, it was one of the latter days, further helped by the humility the bird had taught him when its own nest was being invaded. Funny how quickly karma came right back.

So yay for the guy in finally deducing he had been working with a living invalid or something! But that didn't give him automatic rights to go sticking his nose where it didn't belong - literally! Adam scowled in the direction of the bad breath and stamped his paw in the first sign of a minor tantrum. What, was he going to go blame him next that the nest raid failed? He didn't have to go hear that! So, pre-empting the most certain explanation or scorn he was sure to get, the pup turned about and began sniffing for the trail of his own scent, more than ready to just get back to Kalama and nurse his tiny, but still painful, wounds.

If Kale was aware that his inquires were being taken the wrong way he didn't seem to show it, looking thoughfully at the pup as he skittered backwards from his nosing stamped a paw in agitation. clicking his tongue slightly in thought Kale's thoughts seemed to be elsewhere as he muttered to himself about the possible cause of such a thing in a pup...and then with a sudden jerk recalled a tale he had heard a long time ago.

"You know...a fox once told me that the two leggers from the water have small devices which enhance eyesight, can't really remember exactly what they look like..but I bet we could track some down and steal a pair! what do you say?"

Stealing a pair of the looking devices from the two-leggers was a far greater adventure then raiding a birds nest, and Kale was eager to see if such a treasure really existed, what was a bit of danger in the face of such a great discovery? and if they did exist just imagine what else they could have - why Kale would become legend in wolf society, they could find an entire band of adventurers willing to take part in this journey!

This proposition gave the pup pause. Definitely not the accusation he was looking for - deifnitely not an accusation at all? Still . . . he was suspicious. Was this some sort of ploy, a way for the teen to get back at him for the failed experiment by tricking the pup into a two-legger camp, left for dead or something? Hmph . . . Adam continued to scowl, though it was less prominent than before as he swung around and faced this stranger with a grudggingly curious eye. So humans needed things ot help them see? But would they work on wolves to was the better question. Still, if it did work . . . it could recompensate his wounds to a degree. So he allowed the guy his attention, padding back with all the stiff air of a very important pup forced to sit through pleasantries before giong to the hunt. Did he know where one was? What species was it? Adam only knew of the good natives and the bad foreigners - lables placed personally.

Well his tale seemed he had gotten the pups attention kale mused silently to himself - as it should! What creature wouldn't be interested in such an epic journey? Kale didn't seem to notice that the pup was in some sort of hurry..or at the very least running short on patience.

"Well it would probably be a good idea to track the fox down again I imagine, after all he's the one who saw them and can tell us more details. Fox are very crafty creatures you know, spend a lot of time skulking about human camps." Kale mused to the pup in a far off voice - his thoughts taking up most of his attention "And we'd might need some help, not sure....talk to the fox first then make a plan" He concluded with a slight nod before blinking and looking to Adam "Well...what do you think?"

"Wait, what?" That would've been his first question, followed by, "What fox? Why is he around humans anyway? Where does he live? . . . And wait, why am I still listening to you at all!" Mother wouldn't approve of going near humans whether they were the good natives or the bad foreigners, and thus Adam remained somewhat apprehensive to the idea. What would she say about him at all, though, if she knew what he had been through to begin with since their separation? God knew this alone would see his ears boxed and a lecture filling his head: "Why on earth did you try and climb the tree, Adam? You know you can't do that! What if you had fallen, or the bird had pecked your eyes, or worse!"

Well, the pup replied internally, not as if he could do much worse to me. Blindness? Bah. He was already blind as far as he was concerned.

Thankfully Adam's little reverie lasted about as long as the other's little rant, so he came back to reality at about the same time. Make a plan, huh? Sounded nice, only . . . He noted that the sun was beginning to dip; Kalama would be worried about him. Well, maybe. He didn't know what the former alpha thought of him yet, but losing her meant losing a free meal ticket nonetheless, and he couldn't have that. This interesting idea would have to wait . . .

Still. He looked up into the teen's eyes for a moment, then stepped forward - once, twice, three times, four - and purposefully invaded the other guy's personal space by sticking his snout into his fur and taking a deep sniff. Adam prided himself, after much training with flowers with his sibligns, to have a terribly keen sense of smell and an equally precise memory to go with it; his older adventurer would not soon be forgotten! Then Adam stepped back, tilted his head up again to try and find the boy's eyes, and distinctly, very slowly mouthed, "FIND. AGAIN. LATER. MUST. GO. FOOD. WAITING." He paused to let them sink in before continuing. "I. FIND YOU. NO. WORRY. MEET. SOON. AGAIN."

Kale seemed slightly puzzled for a moment as the pup stepped foreward and shoved his nose into his fur, but wait....of course the nearly blind pup would use smell to get around - how very obvious! Kale filed that fact away even as he mentally chastised himself for not getting the point earlier and then noticed the pup making some very strange mouth movements...ah yes Kale understood and after concentrating on the pups movements was able to glean the meaning.

"Alright little fella, take care finding your way home alright?"

Kale figured he would look into finding that fox again, regardless if the pup came and found him again or not Kales interest was now piqued...of course there was also that Ravens nest still to deal with and Kale attention turned to look upon the bird...who stared back at him balefully.
