Bailey perked up nervously and peered around it's hands as the children seemed to...leave it alone. It wasn't used to having it's wishes come true, but the way they passed it over was a bit disheartening. The infant's ears drooped low to match it's wings as it watched the scene unfold quietly from inside the fairy circle.
"S-s-so....So-fee~" Bailey whispered, recognizing the name as something it's mother had told it and Lissy before bed. And the fire...Bailey was terrified of it, but it knew because Lissy loved it. Momma told stories 'bout it. "So-fee."

Howl turned immediately towards Bailey, wide eyed and hopeful. "You know Thophie?" He asked, tilting his head slightly as he toddled to the other toddler's side. Oh he hoped, how he hoped! "You know where Thophie ith?" he asked, showing his not-so-optimistic outlook. Maybe he'd never find Sophie. Maybe he'd never get back to Ingary...
Depressing thought. He had to find her, he just had to! Maybe this girl (he assumed she was a girl) could help him. "You help me?" he asked hopefully.

Bailey nodded meekly, an embarrased flush covering it's face as it looked wide eyed at Howl. It twirled a flower inbetween it's fingers as it broke eye contact to nervously pry at the stem. "So-fee...gone?" The dream fae tilted it's head upward to look through it's veil of mauve hair.
How sad. You couldn't have a story without her. Bailey nodded and met Howl's eyes with sincerity. "So-fee gone but I hay-elp foind." It hurriedly snatched up it's kazoo, holding it out for Howl to inspect with shaky nods. "Call." It worked for the other two, so why not for Sophie?

As Howl found interest in another person, Alome was still fascinated by Calcifer, petting him again and playing with the flames that seemed to create a halo around him.
"How Cali stay all glowy widout wood?" She wondered aloud, enjoying the comforting warmth, a soft purr escaping her lips. "I wish I glowy~ But I just fwy. I happy though."

Howl looked at Bailey with interest. "Kay. You help find Thophie!" he echoed her, tilting his head in expectation. He stared at the kazoo for a moment, before nodding. Had that been the reason he'd come here? Maybe it would bring Sophie too! A smile crossed his face. "You pretty Bailey," he informed her with a nod. Of course she was pretty, she was helping him!
Calcifer sighed, looking down at Alome with slight dislike. "It's because I'm an all powerful firedemon," he told her with an air of someone boastful. "Normal fires always need something to burn, but..." He paused, and glanced around. "I'm not supposed to talk about my contract with Howl. It was broken once, you know. But now, I suppose it's back."

Alome tilted her head, curious. "A conwack? Waddat?" She asked, twiddling her thumbs together in an honestly confused manner. She sad down on the ground infront of Calcifer, holding out her hand towards him, wondering if he'd land on it.

Bailey frowned before shoving the kazoo at Howl. It grabbed his hand and opened it gently before placing the plastic instrument inside. The toddler didn't have the slightest clue that it was the one with the magic, not the kazoo. " Baiwee hayulp, but 'oo hafta call."
Pretty? The tiny fae remembered it's mother calling it pretty once, but Bailey wasn't sure what it meant. Was it some kind of nice thing? Or a bad one? "'Ooo pwetty too, 'Owl." When in doubt, repeat.

Howl took the kazoo cautiously. He didn't know whether this was a trap or not, and still... He had to try. He hummed into the kazoo, hoping it work. His humming needed work. Despite having the memories of a full grown wizard, he had the sound of a toddler. A very off tune toddler at that.
He waited a moment, and realized Sophie wasn't coming. He frowned slightly, disappointed. He had really wanted it to work. "I thorry, it broken," he told Bailey with a frown. "It not working. It no bring Thophie..." At this, the toddler sniffled. He wanted Sophie! Why wasn't she there with him? Despair! Anguish! And yet, he wasn't quite in his green slime mood.
"I can't say, it's part of the contract," Calcifer said, avoiding her questions with ease. "Well, I suppose I could tell you what a contract is. It's an agreement between two or more people, usually written down."

Bailey clapped it's hands and leaned back, keeping balance only with the aid of it's fluttering wings. "It's not bwoken, it was pwetty. " The toddler took it's kazoo back from the stressing wizard with a frown. Music made everything better. It was the vioce of the soul! And souls were important, right?
"May-bee it's just swow. Give it a wittle bit and she'll come. Fwying, even!"
