Kora looked back at her pups and smiled. "You are not quite old enough to hunt. There is a different variety of food and down here it's much more plentiful. We won't be scenting Hares here. Much to warm for them. They are very important to everyone of you. Not so much now but a lot more as you grow older," She said answering their questions in order. Rooks first then Kaemes. "Now I want you to tell me 3 things that you smell. If you can't name them describe," Kora said to her pups. She felt a little unsettled and glanced back up at the clouds.

Kimor looked around."So those quick white things are Hares?" He asked. His mother had told him that once already but he wasn't really paying attention then. He took a big huff of air. He was bombarded with many scents. Most of them he didn't know the name of. He tried to sift through them in his head. Then failed he was losing interest. He took in another big breathe of air.

Urusinus Drifted around looking down. Soon he spotted his query surrounded by littler helixes. Of course they all looked like dots and smaller dots from up there. He drifted to the other side of the lake they were nearing and flew below the bamboo-line. He had chosen that place because a) they were far enough away so they wouldn't recognize him and b) that was where they were heading. He flew to the spot that Kora was heading below the bamboo-line and landed.

Rook looked around, and watched her brother with a stifled giggle, controlling her inhale a little more. A smaller, slower inhale, in short puffs, like when she was panting after a run in the snow. "Um... Lots of green..." That wasn't all, but the few pictures that came with the scents didn't make sense. Weren't Carribou snow-animals? "... Something... Something that smells... Sorta like the big hoofy things back home. The ones that're rare? But these're smaller, I think." She couldn't tell if her lack of experience led to that conclusion, or if the trail was just cold, or if the animal actually was smaller than she'd seen the Carribou be. She sniffed again, but couldn't really tell anything else apart at the moment and nearly put her tail to the dirt. Something sweet caught her nose though, and she followed it a few feet to stick her nose in a buttercup, so it came out powdered with a soft yellow even after she sneezed to land right back on her tail, looking somewhat goofy as she rolled her head back to her mother and pointed at the plant with her paw. "And that. Smells pretty."

Kaemes listened to his mother talk in fascination, closing his eyes to try and scent something, when his sister distracted him. His eyes popped open and he watched her and laughed softly. It was done with affection though, not with malice-intent. His brother seemed to have gotten distracted again, which wasn't much of a surprise. Closing his eyes again, he sucked in a deep breath through his nose and tried to shift through the scents.
“Mmm,” his voice was soft as it usually was, “I smell...” he shifted, sneezing when he shifted up dirt, “dirt,” he sniffed, wiping his nose against his leg trying to dispel the dust. Sneezing again and disturbing more dirt, he opened his eyes and sneezed again. He sniffed and huffed, trying to pretend the last few moments hadn't happened. Dropping his eyes closed again, he tilted his head up and took another deep breath. “I can smell...Bamboo too.” It was a dusky sort of smell, heavy but with a somewhat sweet base. It smelt nice. He took another breath of bamboo before he tried to sift out another scent. He frowned, slitting his eyes open and glancing around. He took another deep breath and shifted a little closer to his mother. “Mama,” he whispered, trying not to alert his sibblings. “I can smell another helix. It smells like bamboo though. Can you smell it too?” He flicked his tail and tried to look around. The scent was very, very faint, especially to a pup's nose. He wasn't even sure it was another helix, maybe it was just a strange smelling bamboo. “Is it a helix?” He prompted his mother softly, breathing deep. He paused, frowning, "Oh, I can't smell it anymore," he admitted, sounding disappointed. The scent which had been drifting past on a stray breeze was gone.

Kora was about to reply to Rook when Kaemes slid closer to her. "That is a helix. You don't need to be worried, Helixes tend to be less territorial in these areas, Though I carefully steered us away from all pack territories and such, so you don't need to whisper. It's likely that was a flying helix that passed over so don't be disappointed that you lost the scent. I'm surprised you were able to pick up that scent Good job Kaemes," Kora responded her voice full praise. Kaemes probably didn't realize it but he had just scented their father. "Yes Rook, they are called Deer. They look completely different from the caribou we have back north. My nose is telling me that there is a whole herd of them to our right. You guys want to go see them?" Kora asked. Teaching her pups took priority over them seeing their father. This was as much a learning adventure as it was a mission to see Urusinus.

Kimor's ears popped up and he turned around really fast when he heard the words deer and caribou. "We can go see them?" He asked sounding real excited. He refocused and sniffed the air again. Now that he was looking for something it seemed easier for him to locate the different smells. Kimor laughed when Rook stuck her head in the flower and sneezed.

Urusinus lay down to wait for Kora to reach him at their meeting spot. He kept his ears pricked even though he was about to doze off.

Rook grinned and hopped up off her tail, grnning as it was allowed to wag with it's newfound freedom. "Yeah, I wanna see 'em! Can we go see 'em?" She asked excitedly, glancing into the bamboo field. "In there, right?" she yipped happily. Rook loved to learn almost as much as she loved her mother and brothers, even though she might not always admit to the second half of that all the time.

Kaemes positively beamed at the praise from his mother, and his eyes lit up at the idea of seeing these...deer. He wondered what they looked like, since his mother said they looked different from the caribou he was used to seeing.

"I want to see these Deer! Kaemes announced, and raced to Rook's side, pawing at her, and shooting Kimor a look. "I bet I can find them first," He announced, and promptly closed his eyes, trying to scent the odd creatures, but his nose was still young, and could only smell Rook. Not that he'd let his siblings know that, of course!

Kora laughed at their over zealous response to her approval at seeing the deer. "You are going to have to be quieter than that to get remotely close to them," she said to her pups. She quietly followed the direction that Her lovely pups were moving at in a fairly loud manner.
Kimor looked at his brother, Kaemes. "I bet you can't," he growled playfully bouncing off noisily in the direction of the scent. He pause long enough to make sure his mother was following before turning back around to continue in the direction he was leaving in, which would take him slightly to the left of the clearing that the deer happened to be in. He attempted to calm himself down on the way, but that was like telling a river not to flow.
Urusinus kept on a very light gaurd, he could tell that they had taken a short cut because a mom would love to teach her pups something along the way... at least he assumed they were pups.

Rook stepped away from Kaemes' pawing and shot him a look, straightening her fur for a moment before she would bound up again and shoot off after her brothers. She snickered as she tackled into one of them; She didn't bother figuring out which of them was in her path, it was fun to torment them both; then pounced off from their sides in hopes of sliding ahead of Kimor. She stuffed her nose to the ground and began to sort through the scents for the one she'd already found before following it.

She was a touch off from the trail, too, though, untrained and a little scatterbrained, as pups are wont to be at times. "Momma, why's the scent keep changing intensity? Is there something wrong with the deer?"

Kaemes scowled at his brother and laughed at his noisy nature. "You'll never get to them like that!" He called and followed quickly, trying to be quieter but he was not perfect at his sneaking skills yet, which meant that his 'quiet' was often quite loud. He was stalking his brother when he felt his sister barrel into him and bounced to the side, to get away from her. She was soon in front of him, following Kimor.

He bent down low, trying to sniff out the scent. Maybe he could go a different way and get to them quicker? He caught the scent of one, and glanced over his shoulder at his mother, before quietly attempting to sneak off. He would find them before Kimor and Rook!

Kora had to supress a laugh at Rook's question. "There is nothing wrong with the deer. It is the breeze shifting," She said. They were noisily moving in a slightly quieter manner now. They were also moving in completely different directions. All would lead them to the herd. Kora fell back to a point she could supervise all of their progress and started to follow them at that distance.
Kimor moved faster in the direction he was heading bound and determined to a)beat his siblings and b) just to see the deer. They were bound to look different than the ones...Caribou in the North. He reached the clearing and peered out of the bushes. The deer were on high alert because they heard them coming and were about to scatter. He sat and stared at them, still hidden by the bushes.

(I'm sorry about the wait, guys.)

Rook giggled as she worked at the scent, eventually landing her head in a bush's branches. After fighting with the bush to get her head loose, she looked over the bush, curiously, even leaning on the bush as her eyes wandered over the frame of the slender little carribou-... No, deer... She'd spotted. "Oooooh!" She murmured. "HEY MAMA! I FOUND ONE!" She called, her tail wagging as she looked over her shoulder to the older wolf, her voice spooking the deer she'd found even as she pointed to it. The beast, shortly after, stuttered into a run before evaporating into the forest with leaps and bounds.
