Reaumer let go of the young pup, Agrona. He smiled sadly, watching her leave angrily.
"You'll be strong Agrona... in more and less ways than you might expect..." Reaumer didn't doubt that at all. But she was so angry, even at her siblings that it scared Reaumer a bit.. wait.
What?
Reaumer stared at both the pups and their mother. Stay? He had only been planning on passing through... right. Right?
Kurosage eyed her daughter Agrona as she stalked off angrily, and Kuro couldn't stop the small whimper as her daughter turned away from her. She didn't know what to do... How could she get Agrona to realize, they weren't perfect the way they had been before. With this Reaumer around things could change, for the better even. She sighed and turned as she noticed her Xavi and her Teita together. Those two... Kuro couldn't help but smile at them. She loved them all.
Teita laughed and turned to Xavi. "He's great... I haven't seen any other wolf like that. I didn't think he could."
Her tail wagged. If her mother liked him... maybe he could be their father. Maybe right? Teita would like that... but she still wanted to be strong. If she wasn't strong, she wouldn't be able to make both her mother and Reaumer proud. Right?
Reaumer blinked at all the wolves and pups. "I... guess...?"
He still wasn't sure of how this had happened. Now he was going to stay? But.. Reaumer watched the two pups, they seemed happier than when he first saw Xavi. He seemed... livelier. And that made Reaumer pretty happy. He didn't have a place before... this would be a nice place. Maybe he could have pups some day here.
Reaumer turned to look Kurosage in the eyes. What did she have to say about his staying?
Kuro thought Reaumer would bring some stability to their lives, and that was always a plus. And another plus was having him around made sure there were two sets of eyes on her pups. Double the attention.
She nodded to Xavi and Teita, before turning to Reaumer, "You're staying."
Teita wagged her tail, and moved closer to Reaumer. "Yah you gotta stay!"

Xavi watched Agrona go with a frown. She was such a fiery thing, a temper that couldn't be cooled. It would be her downfall... He shook his head, as if upset by this, and looked to the remaining members of his family. All three of them: Teita, Mother and Reaumer. A grin grew on his face and he sidled up beside the big red wolf. "I can see you fitting in well here," he chuckled, tail giving a lone wag as he eased into a sit.
The sun was just beginning to rise, orange and pink upon the horizon, filtering through the trees. Piper pulled away from Moscow, who was sleeping soundly and did a headcount. Moscow. Swell. She nodded. Two... Two left. It made her heart still ache, even though her puppies were nearly full grown and soon, they'd be out of her life forever. Who knew if Gomorrah could keep them or not. She hoped so.
Standing, she began to check boundary lines. Sniff, sniff, sniffing, she came upon one scent, a foreign scent, that tickled her nose and made her hackles raise. Male... Head to the ground, she cooly made her way through the woods and followed the scent to the dens. To her surprise, Kurosage and her pups (well three of them anyway) were crowded around a strange, red male with a tribal marking on his rump. Piper puffed herself up and strode up to them, radiating a calm, domineering feeling.
"Hello there... I can't help but notice that you're trespassing, red wolf."

Reaumer smiled a bit uncertainly, how did this really happen again? He was now part of their family? They wanted him to be their protector? Well he'd already thought he'd stay... The pups seemed happy to let him stick around, well Xavi and Teita. Agrona didn't seem too happy ever.
"I... I'm staying," Reaumer repeated.
Kurosage nodded her head. The male was staying. He could help make sure the pups had what they would need, in a male adult figure. Sadly, it didn't look like Kuro was able to do well without it. But it didn't matter. Reaumer would be in charge of that and that was that. Kuro thought it was high time she started doing things anyways.
Teita giggled and sat next to Reaumer on his other side, opposite to Xavi. She wagged her tail nodded to Xavi's statement.
She stopped as she watched the alpha, Piper come up. Not good. Reaumer wasn't actually pack after all. What was going to happen. Teita didn't like being uncertain and having the alpha see Reaumer was something uncertain. What would happen? She whimpered, lowering her body and head.
"He's our new protector," Teita murmured softly.
Piper... What was Kuro supposed to say? The black and orange she wolf lay on her belly, ears flat and low. She checked to see if Xavi and Teita had done the same.
"Xavi found him alpha.." She whispered. What else could she say?
Reaumer felt in big trouble. He was caught by a pup and then the alpha, for there was no mistake in the way the she-wolf carried hersalf. Kuro then called her the alpha and it was confirmation...
Reaumer bowed low, eyes still looking in the alpha's eyes.
"I was just trying to move through to the lands on the opposite side of your lands. I didn't mean to stick around alpha... but.. the pups convinced me to."
Reaumer thought it was strange. The pups convinced him to stay true. But admitting it to the Alpha?

Xavi's ears flattened as the alpha she-wolf strode up. Piper was big! Bigger than he remembered... But... He glanced between his family and Reaumer and stood up, tall, puffing out his chest. "He has to stay, Piper!" he barked. And then he mirrored Tei: "He'll protect us."
Piper's brown eyes glittered, curious and uncertain all at once.She looked over the small family. The yellow-blinding pup was Xavierie... His shiny black sister Teita. Kurosage was their mother... But what was of the other two pups? And this red wolf. A protector? But he looked no more than a lowly omega! She gave a bark of laughter. "Protect you from what?"
"The other wolves," said Xavi, bold. He stared the alpha in the eye with his own glowing orbs. He narrowed them. "A blue she-wolf tried to steal Teita away. Mom fought her off, but then our brother Satoru up and disappeared... There was another wolf's smell along with him. They stole him from Gomorrah!" This was the most fire the half-grown, rather lazy pup had every shown! Every hair stood on end.
Piper opened her mouth to speak, then frowned. She didn't take the pup's gaze as a challenge -- he was still a pup, and younger than Moscow and Swell... She shook her head. "I didn't smell any intruders," she said, suddenly unsure. Was she not keeping a lockdown? Were wolves passing through without permission? She bristled and jerked her gaze to Reaumer. "You. Red wolf. State your name." She would need to lock down. She would need to... Squall's disappearance hadn't been a fluke. She bit down on her tongue, then shook her head. "How would you like to be a Protector...of the pack?"

Agrona waited in the shadows, she had seen her alpha pass and would have followed...but Piper was heading towards the den. She hated that den now, with luck Piper would realize that horrible male was an intruder and kill him. She snarled softly her eyes glowing, her hate kept her warm even as the sun began to set. She stalked back off following Pipers scent back back towards her den, she would create a den close to her alpha.
Slowly her anger began to fade, she thought of her mother and her siblings and looked down. Why had they turned on her? Why hadn't they helped her get rid of the male intruder? Didn't they realize he was useless and weak? If only she had been bigger she could have rid them of him by herself. She felt strangely betrayed, and sadness welled within her yet at the same time the anger did as well, as if it would not allow the sadness to overpower it.

Teita nodded her head, agreeing with Xavi's statements. She hid a smile, Xavi wasn't being all that lazy today. That was cool. She looked back to alpha, body still low but looking her in the eye. Her own glowing eyes looked back, similar but a brighter orange than her mother's, the orbs shone with the truth of what was being said.
... but she had to admit her weakness to the alpha. "There... there was this crazy she wolf. And... she had me in her jaws and was trying to take me away from the den and mother. She was crazy, alpha!" Teita felt weak, admitting her weakness.
Reaumer eyed the alpha back, no confrontation at all in his gaze but a cool demeanor. He wasn't an enemy to the alpha, and he'd submit to her of course. But he wasn't completely in the wrong... he could help this family... the pack.
Kurosage looked between Reaumer and the alpha, to her pups, back to Reaumer and the alpha. Her gaze moved back and forth.
"It's true alpha... all of what Xavi and Teita have said. My Satoru is gone, disappeared. And I had nearly lost Teita just before. I fought the wolf off out land but... Satoru... no sight, scent, or paw seen of him."
Reaumer licked his chops, his mouth dry. Protector of the pack?
"My name is Reaumer, alpha," Reaumer told her his name. He wanted to know hers as well, to know who to answer to but... he didn't think it was quite appropriate. He could ask Kurosage later.
"If I could ask, what shall my duty be? Protector of the pack?" Reaumer asked. He had to know what he had to do, in order to do them of course. He couldn't accept the responsibility, without knowing what all of them would be.
Teita watched, back and forth, back and forth. Did they ALL have to be here right now? Too many wolves for a puppy to handle speaking and listening to, really.
She turned to the alpha, not asking or consulting her mother and said, "Mother could help Reaumer, alpha Piper. And... and he can live in the den with mother and Xavi and Agrona and I!"

Piper had seen the black-pelted female lurking in the shadows out of the corner of her eye. She made a mental note to return to speak with her, the only one of Kuro's pups not thrilled with the idea of this red male, obviously. But she was overwhelmed with the small family's explanations. Teita had nearly been stolen. Satoru was missing, just up and disappeared. And Reaumer... He seemed quick, although he looked like an omega. Could an omega even protect? Was he strong? She supposed she would find out.
She tilted her head to one side, sitting down and thinking for a moment. "Gomorrah's omegas are usually weak." Her lip curled for a brief moment. "We usually keep them as Recruiters and Nannies. However... I can make an exception. You're a little small..."
She stood, ideas sparking her interest. "Come here, Reaumer. I say we do a little fight, just to see how strong you are. Let us see if you can truly protect the pack." Her tail brushed the ground in a low wag, a solitary wag as she stiffened herself. "Come at me, red wolf. I'm waiting..."

Reaumer almost took a step back. Attack her? Come at the large, imposing figure? THE ALPHA? Reaumer just wanted to turn, tail between his legs and run. But... his eyes were glued to the pups, Teita... Xavi... even their Mother Kurosage.
Reaumer's ears perked. His eyes darted, gazing, taking in all of the alpha's muscle movements. Was she going to just stand there? She just wanted him to come at her? He watched, but there was no change. It almost aggravated him, but he knew the alpha wanted him to go. But... Reaumer couldn't decide. He would usually go for the throat, but that would probably get his butt handed to him.
What the alpha wants, the alpha shall have.
Reaumer's back legs tensed and then released. He launched himself foward, once twice, his paws on the ground and then leaping towards the larger female. He knew the throat wasn't a good idea but the next best thing, to take down a larger opponent was to use the weight against them. The shoulder was a good way. Reaumer didn't want to do any lasting damage, not knowing how the alpha would take it. He was in the air, claws stretched out, straight for her shoulder.
Next, as soon as he hit her shoulders scratching her in the process, the force of his launch sending him past and on to her other side. He rolled and rose to his feet, ready to see what the alpha wanted, watching for what she would do next.
