The meeting place, Kaya figured, was a good place to start. Tail swished to and fro gracefully in the evening light, or lackthereof. Soon it would be dark, and once again the moonlight would grace the earth with its presence. The young femme was ever so fond of it. Really.
Then along came a second voice, other than the old one's. This time a much younger tone made the she-pup's ears go alert, and for a brief moment she wondered if this was a pack member, or an outsider. Catching sight of the teen male through the trees, she stayed extremely close to Mingan, just in case. "Who's that?" she whispered, hoping only the elder could hear her.

At first, Mingan was startled, and shied away from the male voice, but soon realized that it was the wolf who had missing since he was statused as a pup. His parents had been so worried, especially when, not long after Castor's disappearance, his brother Jono had up and gone missing as well.
"Castor!" he exclaimed, half in answer to the wolf's appearance back on pack lands, and half in answer to the pup's question. "You've grown so much." he followed, more quietly. Castor, being the grandson of the alpha, would always been ranks above him, and his omega posturing was clear, though the two were good friends.
The teen dipped his head in respect, flicking his ears back momentarily and dropping eye contact. He may be higher ranking by birth, but Mingan was an Elder, and in his eyes, the Elders were only a tiny bit under the alphas in ranking.
He had loved Mingan the most after the stormy night in his puphood. He had run from his family's den, being teased mercilessly by his siblings again, and had run straight to Mingan's den by accident. He had thought it strange that the elder seemed skittish of him, and had been sad at first when the grey wolf made to take him back to his own den - but the lightning and a crash of thunder had sent them both retreating to the farthest part of the underground den, and there they had stayed through the night.
Ever since then... Mingan had been his favorite.
The wolf smiled serenely as he remembered their meeting, and finally laid eyes on the pup. He cocked his head at the sight of her, wondering where she had come from - if she was new, or if she had been here all along, in his absence. "Hello, I'm Castor." he introduced himself, charming as ever. Maim had taught him that...

The ball of fur stood quietly while the two older ones caught up with one another. Certainly she did not want to get in the way of a rekindling adjoining. "My name is Kaya. Pleasure to meet you." she added whenever Castor finally introduced himself. He was dark, had black rings on his arms, and cream residing over the top of him. Quite an interesting color scheme, she thought, noticing many various shades throughout his fur coat. Which, by the way, seemed more ragged than some. Her eyes went up and down him for a moment, then she stopped. "You must be a fellow pack member of Mingan here." She decided to end there, and smiled.

The wolf didn't really want to pause in their journey, but for Castor, he would sit a while. It was rare that the male actually found comfort in the company of other males, but Castor was one of those few.
"Where have you been, boy?" he pondered aloud, a picture of slight worry upon his face. He hadn't seen the pup in nearly an entire moon-phase, and the other Elders were getting antsy, with the disappearance of the two brothers.
"Kaya... that's a pretty name." he smiled genuinely, and dipped his muzzle in a greeting. "Have you been here long?" he had to know what was going on in the pack while he had been gone - he was too curious not to know!
"I..." he halted, balking in his explanation. He didn't want to admit that he had simply run from his problems. "I was with an uncle." He turned his attention back to Mingan... it was sort of the truth?
It was still hard for the teen, trying to split his attention between two wolves who equally demanded it. He wasn't sure who to focus on, and it hurt his head a bit.

Kaya could sense a state of a certain confusion in the darker male and didn't much want to cause any trouble, so she sortof backed off a little bit and bowed gracefully in response. "Thank you, and no, not really." came a final word, leaving it at that. As it seemed this 'Castor' hadn't been around for a while. Was it like the way of pack members to go off on journeys of their own every once in a while? This intrigued the femme and she thought heavily of long excursions and many an adventure that lay ahead of her. This brought her peace, and made her happier than she could imagine.

An uncle...
Halcyon? No, he was still within the pack, as far as Mingan knew. And Castor didn't have Halcyon's scent on him. Hm. Now he certainly was confused. Castor didn't know any of his uncles save for Halcyon - no one did except Loki's old mate, who had disappeared long ago, with more than half the family in tow...
He sighed as he remembered the story - a sad tale that not even the third generation (Castor's generation) knew of, about their grandfather.
"It is." he stated truthfully and quietly. And damn, Maim wasn't his uncle. It was strange to think of him as a cousin, as he was so much older than Castor.... but cousins they were. He didn't want to correct himself to Mingan now, for fear of seeming like he was trying to weasel his way from telling the truth.
It wasn't that he was lying.... he had just messed up the truth a bit. He would attempt to correct it later, when they weren't in the company of the younger wolf.
"Where were you headed?" he inquired, hoping they weren't planning on going anywhere near other pack members. He wasn't quite ready to explain where he had been, much less with a 'strange' wolf's scent on him. Though he was sure, from what Maim had said, that no one here knew of him - not even the older wolf's aunt Hannah.

Night had fallen, causing each leaf on every tree to glisten in the moonlight, the occasional few fireflies glimmering in the soft breezes. She curled up on the sands before her, though not quite comfortable and some sticks agitating her underbelly. Her tail wrapped tightly around her, sealing in the body heat as well as it could. Tonight was truly, beautiful.
She could have stopped thinking into the distance for a moment and answered Castor's question of where they were headed, but that would be against her very beliefs. This was their meeting, their discussion, and it would be utterly rude and distasteful to intrude upon it. That was not her place.

Mingan was bumped out of his pondering by Castor's next question - where were they going? "The Meeting Place." he answered, after watching a bit as Kaya curled up beside the two wolves. She seemed to be enjoying the serene night as much as he was.
"Oh... I...." he started, but was interrupted with a simple "I know." on Mingan's behalf. The Elder knew somehow, that he wasn't ready to face anyone. He knew that his friend would understand, as Mingan wasn't always ready to face other either.
"I'd enjoy it if you'd stick around, then... Kaya." he smiled and dipped his head down, momentarily touching his nose to hers. It was a friendly gesture, and one he hoped would be taken well. His eyes squinted a bit as he smiled wide and said his goodbyes. He would stay on the packlands for a while, but there was no telling when he would finally decide to meet up with the others.
After hearing his friend's goodbyes, the grey wolf gestured to Kaya, motioning that they should continue on. He looked up to the sky, noting the nearly full moon. The entire pack would come together in a night or two, but it wouldn't be fair to ask the pup to stay that long just to meet everyone in a pack she might not be interested in staying in.
It was up to her, though. "As I said, there should be a few there. The alpha, if you're lucky." he grinned, clearly showing his love of his alpha, Loki.

Indeed it had been taken well, as Kaya much enjoyed the affection of others. Almost as much as she was enjoying this night. It had been a long day, and she was tired. "On second thought, Mingan, perhaps we should rest here for tonight? What use trekking onward and ignoring the glorius view all around you, after all..." A small yawn escaped her precious maw, and she closed her eyes to rest for a bit.

The grey wolf bowed his head to the pup. "Very well then. Would you mind if I took my leave, though? I must speak with the alpha. Castor will take care of you." He shot a look at Castor, hoping to convey that he wouldn't so easily loose his secret, but that there was no telling, with his scent upon him. Loki was just as old as Mingan though, and may not pick up on it so easily...
The teen was a bit wary, but he would let his friend go anyway. His secret was safe, as far as verbal communications went.
"If you want to enjoy the night... " he smiled and scooted a bit closer, gently lowering his head and taking hold of her as a mother would. "I can take you to the most wonderful place we have on our lands." he spoke around the bit of nape he had in his mouth, before lifting her off the ground slowly. He had never done this before, and honestly didn't want to hurt her.
If she objected, he'd put her down... but this was a fast way to travel, and neither of them wanted to miss out on any part of this night.
Before the three parted ways, Mingan said his goodbyes. "I'll come find you the hour before we come together at the Meeting Place, Kaya. If you've stuck around, and wish to attend." he smiled, before turning and making his way carefully towards where he knew Loki would be resting.

Kaya had accidentally dozed off during the first few moments after shutting her eyelids. A startling grasp at her neck flung her from her sleep and into reality again, but not so much in time as to clearly hear everything Castor was inviting her to. "wonderful place on our lands." "Huh? Oh...Whatever, Castor. Thank you." she said, yawning quietly once more. She didn't at all mind being carried, it was just that it startled her she was being so. Soon, however, and with no effort on her behalf, she would find herself somewhere she simply couldn't sleep and ignore. Or so she hoped.

Castor wasn't appreciative of the 'whatever' he was given - it had always been a statement of sarcasm, one meaning to shut him up.
But it was alright, he didn't think she was going to be a mean pup, and he hoped she would enjoy the beach and the ocean in all its moon-lit glory. The sand captured the light like glass, and the water sparkled like the billions of stars in the sky on a clear night.
The sound of the waves came in calm and clear as they approached from the North, and he set her down to follow him the few steps it would take to break the treeline and finally see what they had come for. "Come along, it's well worth it." he smiled back at her, waiting for her to register what was happening, as she seemed to be sleepy.

Groggily and hesitantly, she followed. She didn't much like to drag herself around in a state of exhaustion, or sleepiness at all for that matter. However, as she finally approached the landscape, her eyes shot wide open. "This is....amazing." She was stunned. What a breathtaking view it really was! The sand glistened and the waters sparkled. The air smelled fresh and the breezes were gentle. The sand felt softer than a newborn pup's bottom.
"It is well worth it!" she exclaimed, then shot off straight towards the ocean's edge. Suddenly she found herself with a fit of energy...

The male smiled as she realized what she was looking at, and he watched gleefully as she rushed ahead, straight for the water. He watched her a moment before skittering to follow her. "It's it?!" he yipped playfully, hoping to make a new friend. To him, she seemed a bit distant. He couldn't quite put his paw on it, but... something about her. She didn't seem like a snob, but she just didn't seem interested in being his friend. It made Castor a sad pup.
As such, he was very cautious towards her. He wanted to make a friend so badly... his fellow littermates treated him terribly, and there were no other pups in the pack at this point. The male felt like he didn't have a real friend in the world.
"Where are you from, Kaya?" he asked, as friendly as he could muster.

Sand-soaked paws trekked along the seaside rampantly, creating a line of pawprints that even a nearly blind wolf could follow. The waves crashed against the shore with a burst of music created by nature's glory. Kaya only stopped herself after hearing Castor's question. It made her remember where she really did come from.
"I'm from....South! Down south." she began, not wanting to divulge into that history for the second time in one moon. "It's a lot nicer up here though.", she added. "And you?"
