A Wandering Esper

Beloved Stargazer

PostPosted: Thu Sep 03, 2009 6:51 am

He let go of the can he was holding toward the angel when he had taken it, moving to open his own. It was some good old pepsi - he rather preferred coffee, and very black at that, but the coffee machine here had broken a long time ago, and no one had thought to replace it. He did not come here enough to feel that he should do so himself.

"So, what do you do, when you're not getting in trouble ?" The question was light, moreso at an attempt to find something to say than anything else.

It was a very good question. Unfortunately, it was also a question he didn't have a good answer for. Just the pathetic true one, which he gave as he drummed the top of the can with his fingers, "I'm always getting into trouble, somehow."

"That's... not very fun." Sei wasn't sure if he was supposed to say if he was sorry to hear it or not - it certainly was polite to say, yes, but the angel didn't exactly look like he might appreciate it.

Hey, when in doubt, you shut up. The blonde took a sip of his drink, shifting to sit against the armrest of the couch, and waiting a few seconds before he dared put his full weight against it. "...I really wish it wasn't that way, sometimes." He mused. "I don't especially like living knowing something's out to get me, and that tomorrow might be the day it strikes." From the sound of it, Sei was not a stranger to trouble either.

Mikhail made a wordless sound of agreement to Sei's observation before taking a drink of soda. "I'd never realized how bad it could be," he admitted, "Until what happened to Seung. And something was after Dusty the other day, too. They're just kids. It's crazy!"

"Dusty ? Something happened to him ?" There was a touch of worry in the blonde's voice, where as beforehand it had always remained even. He had not seen the little boy for a long time indeed...

"I guess it's a fa'e thing. We all seem pretty skilled at getting in trouble." He paused for a moment, as if wondering if he could continue on that track of mind or leave it at that. "Something like that happened to me, too. Like what happened to Seung. I was a kid too, back then." Though he had certainly never felt like one mentally, physically that had been the case.

"Lost part of his tail," he supplied. "Someone sent this...thing after him. He's lucky he didn't get squashed." Mik could vouch that getting stepped on - really stepped on - was an unpleasant experience. What would it have done to the much smaller deerkitten?

"Really?" The angel sighed, biting his lip. "My past...it's never put me in danger like that. I can't imagine.."

If anything had happened to him before he'd even known what he was...it was hard to think about what the result could have been.

"It seems to be a very common fa'e thing, as far as I know." He kind of hoped Mik wouldn't try to dig deeper into what had happened to him. Nothing against the angel, of course, but he really hated to talk about it. Or to think about it. Not that he seemed to be able to stop thinking about it. "Sometimes the past literally catches up with you and... it's not always pretty." He sighed, taking another sip of his can.

"I'm starting to see that," he said with a sigh. Fortunately, while Mik was curious, he didn't usually pry too much - especially when he didn't know the person in question very well. Sei was safe from further questioning. "I can't say I'm looking forward to it."

"I really hope it doesn't end up that way for you." It was evident in the fa'e's expression that he meant every word of it. Something like what happened to him was something he wouldn't even wish upon his worse enemy, and thus certainly not on the angel. They seemed similar in ways, and it made it easier to talk to him than to someone who was outgoing and simply took all the place in the conversation.

"But ill deal with that as it comes." It seemed more of a reminder to himself than anything else. "You seem to come here often... ?" He asked, curious.

"Thanks." Mikhail hoped for the very same thing. He got beaten up enough just helping other people when their past came after them! Who knew how he'd end up if his did?

At Sei's observation, he grinned with just a touch of sheepishness. "...Yeah. Getting to know other Fa'e and all that."

"There's alot of them... I don't really know all that many either." He admitted, equally sheepish. Why was it that way, he wondered ? He certainly could come here whenever he wished, but did not. All his closest friends, save maybe Nozomi, Riven and Lethe, though he had not seen the latter two in ages, were all non-fa'e. Mortals. His own family was fa'e, but he did not know much of them. His mother came back, only to leave again, leaving him to wonder if it was because of anything he did, or anything he was. He had met his aunt twice, but had enjoyed her company. And his father... well, that was a whole new tangent right there, even if things had gone well. Maybe he ought to do like Mik and get to know the other fa'e more ?

"Least I'm not the only one." It was always good to have company...misery and all that he supposed. Not that he was miserable. Well, y'know, whatever. It sort of made sense. Curious, he asked, "How old are you?"

"Depends how literal you want to be." He said with a grin. "I say 16 to most people, but it's more like 4 going on 5. Im pretty good with my ABCs, though." He gave a chuckle and took a last sip of his can before sending it flying across the room only to have it land straight into the little bin that was set aside for recycling - a straight shot, without hitting the side of the bin or anything. "What about you ?" In spite of looking older, it was possible that the angel was younger than he was - after all, last he had seen Lethe, she was younger than him physically, even if she was older in actually.

Fa'e were kind of odd like that.

Mikhail laughed, feel more and more at ease around Sei. "Yeah, and I've finally got the hang of coloring inside lines." He watched him lob the soda can at the trash, half-expecting him to miss - since most people would - but he actually made it. "Just about six."

"We totally should be getting gold stars for that ! Seriously." Not that he had ever gone to school - things like reading and writing were things he always knew, after all - but many of his sibilings had gone though it, so the concept of the so-sought-after gold star sticker did not escape him.

"Im almost as old as my father. It's really pretty odd to think about."
