Kazuma Ishimaru We all know Dissidia is the pinnacle of player pleasure. Fans, almost, unanimously love it. What about the other side of the coin? Yes, just as in FF3, there must always be a dark counterbalance to the light. What part of Dissidia has irked you? What do you feel brings a blemish to this shining stone of SquareSoft? Personally? A few things... Tee-dus, Tye-dus, Tee-dus. They just can't make up their mind. (Blame KH2 for "Tye-dus")Zi-dahn?! That caught me off-guard O_o.No set storyline. I played through WoL's story first and then the game basically finished. o_o; It would of been nice of them to chronolize the stories, or let us switch characters at appropriate times.Personally I dont mind the story well I havent played it yet but I think the gameplay is fun so far ive played the demo over and over i have conquerd hard mode and I hope theres like a INSANE modde or im going to fly through the game but I havent played it yet so I cant say.

I have played both the Japanese and English version... If it weren't for it being in English, I like the Japanese version ALOT better... A small list, if you will, of things that irked me in the English version...
- My BIGGEST pet peeve: No English/Japanese voice changing. The English voice acting was, as a whole disgusting... Only a few noteworthy voices: Garland (Piccolo from DBZ) Firion/Firionel (Ichigo, from Bleach) Golbez (unknown, but freaking awersome), and Kefa/Cefka (Kakashi from Naruto(!)). This is an offense punishable by having Cactuars 1000 Needle you until you look like your great grand mothers pincushion. ><
- Arcade Mode: Yeah, it's a good idea, but Quickplay is an easier, more intuitive mode. It's rewards are 300 PP and a 1000 gil fee for a level up (On Normal Mode). Makes it a bit too easy
- Not really a problem: Different moves and animation from the Japanese to the English. Many have been noticed by me, but a few familiar ones... 1. Sephiroth's Hell's Gate move used to go straight down, no "release and bum rape them with uber slashes" 2. Kefka/Cefka's moves have different animations, i.e his fireballs have a fiery glow now, where in the Japanese version, they were just arrow looking objects with flame behind them.
Now, as for the whole game...
- Storyline: The storyline would make anyone lose their mind. I've been a faithful FF fan, and I BARELY grasped it. I got some of it. Imagine what the regular person thinks.
Faithful reenactment: *head explodes*
I believe that the storyline was meant to cater to the hardcore fans, but it missed it, and left a bunch of them in the dust. I agree with Game Informer about it being a fan game (though I wholly disagree with the 6.5(!) score it got)
Other than that, a high octane action game, enjoyable by anyone with at least a quarter use of their brain. biggrin Sorry if it was too wordy, I was thinking of making an actual review of this game. xD

Game Informer is always rough on Final Fantasy games lol. But thats cuz they expect nothing but awesome when you have a game with Final Fantasy in it. The score they gave them is about right maybe a 7. They should had tho did what they did to i think it was a naruto game and said "But if you are a fan of the series then go ahead and add 1-2 points to the score"

Just to clarify for some people here,
I do like the story!!!! I don't know where some people are coming from thinking I don't.
I don't like it being non-linear. I would prefer it if it unfolded events from point "a" to point "z", not how it just jumbles up the story depending on who you play. I like that it's in their point of view, but there is no indication as where to start/end; especially annoying for people that like stories that are ordered.

I like the story. It alludes to some aspects in the actual FF games, like when Tidus tells Firion that sometimes it's ok to yell and goes on to do so lol
nice Kuja cosplay, Kazuma mrgreen

Maybe thats why i didnt like that sotry cuz of how i went about finishing peoples stories.

Ravenwolf Ughhh, I hate bosses that depend on luck... Cloud Strife aka Spikey I have to agree that the story is a bit odd after you collect your crystal, but I also think that as you are playing the character you want, the story is playing out for everyone else even though you don't see it until you play them as well. The part I hated most was the summons. No awesome scenes, no amazing graphics, not anything like they are supposed to be used for in my opinion. All in all great game with some interesting ideas, but could use more limit break options especially when you change costume. Like Cloud for instance, when you change to the Advent Children costume I think he should have that limit break he used on sephiroth in the movie. Yeah, it would be nice if the summons has actual scenes... and since you can only use them once per battle, it wouldn't get out of hand, especially if you had the option to turn them off. They still shouldn't be too long, or you'd forget what you're doing in the battle and get your butt kicked, but... a little something more would be good... It would be seriously unfair if costume changes changed gameplay, though. It's a fun bonus to have them, but that's all they should be, not an integral part of the gameplay. Besides, the move I think you're talking about is just another version of Omnislash. There is actually one summon that can be used an unlimited amount of times per battle, but it activates itself at certain times and is very hard to obtain. What I don't get is why the extra characters are so hard to get. Its not that going through the stages to get to them is hard, its that it takes alot of effort to unlock the chapters or whatever where you can get them from. (It's worth it though.)

I'm trying to look at it from an average gamers perspective. And yes, Kazuma, I personally like the story too. I only said I only got a bit of it. I played it some more, and it fits nicely in my mind now. I was only commenting that a normal player would be lost, hence, it being a bit of a pet peeve for me. I like games that make that delicate balance, between the new gamer, new to FF, and the older, veteran hardcore crowd. A shining example of this balance is Super Mario Galaxy. Only saying it lacked in it's newcomer welcoming committee.

I forgot to add in their expectations. I agree with them in their scoring with that respect. For fans, I'd rate it an 7.5, maybe an 8 in a stretch. Great, but it does have it's problems.

Okay. I have definitively decided the only thing I really, really hate about the game. THE RELEASE DATE. I haven't been able to play nearly as much as I want, and even the bit I have been able to get in is too much. I now have two days to read three books to finish summer reading. Craaaaaaap. gonk

The camera angles sometimes get stuck I know its doesn't happen much but when it does oh man. I dont mind the way they pronounce any of the names they all seem pretty right to me everyone thinks of water when they say Tidus name so start remebering its meant to be related to the sun and thats a good reason why not pronounced tides.
