She would be a real prize this one!
The brown's confidence soared higher than even himself as he caught another thermal beneath curved membrane and twirled higher in the great blue sky. His mind had closed off the others around him leaving just him and the brilliant queen flying many dragonlengths ahead. She was toying with him, flirting with her pursuer...no...pursuers.
Tallith curved his sinuous neck to face the dragons that were flying around him, some slightly ahead and some behind. They were a mass of wings, brown and bronze working towards a goal that only one of them would achieve. He caught sight of a bronze rising up higher above him and recognised it as Zanilyth.
A lustful anger erupted into this usually docile and gentle beast as he craned his head around to hiss loudly at his competitors. They thought they could out fly him?! No, this dragon would not allow it!
He curved slightly on a wingtip to pull away from the string of males, searching for a thermal and roaring triumph as he was embraced and pulled further upwards.
A sudden stretch of cloud engulfed Ariath's slender and shining form, but as the brown came close to it he could make out the pale shine of her body between the wisps of cloud. Feeling renewed strength in this misted glimpse of his queen he gave an extra beat of his wings, pulling his glimmering mahogany body into the lower section of the cloud. For even though he was high, the golden queen was higher still.
His vision was momentarily washed out, a grey mass of moisture soaking his hide as he twisted his lithe form after the golden beauty. He inhaled deeply, the damp air cooling his lungs and propelling him further forward.
He exploded from the cloud seconds later, his dark and powerful form causing it to swirl about his body and wings, slinking back from him in fear as he broke away from its cover and once again into the open sky.
She turned quite suddenly, and with a move so graceful that the brown was once again lost in admiration for her. Tallith turned almost lazily, still quite a distance beneath and behind this queen. He had forgotten the rival dragons for now and simply made himself content to follow the queen in her graceful procession.
Yet the brown was becoming increasingly aware of how far he was behind her, for as he had said once to L'cian, no dragon can fly forever, even if one was driven by an incredible lust for such a beauty as Ariath.
Something needed to be done to close the gap between them before one of those pesky bronzes took it upon themselves to do so, or maybe that brown: the one he had considered a friend not long ago. On a mating flight however, there were no friends, Tallith would have no mercy and would show none to any dragon. Rank nor colour mattered to him at that moment and he hissed again, a warning sign to those he knew were still around him.
----------
Thanks to Tallith, L'cian had been dropped off on the ledge that had been reasonably close to the Weyrwoman's quarters and had made it there with not much difficulty. He had been there for quite some time now, and had already let himself become completely one with his dragon. It amazed him even now how fast his beast could fly and how much pride and confidence was stored beneath that velvety hide.
He felt the wind against his face as if he was there with his dragon, felt the emotions swell in his chest and cause his heart to race. The cloud blurred his vision as much as it did Tallith's and he felt the adrenaline race through him.
It was in these moments where rider and dragon truly were one, when he understood his dragon the best, he now knew what it was to fly high and fast, to chase one who was so much faster, bigger and stronger. He sincerely knew what it was to be a dragon and the experience was invigorating...

Feronamth could not get to the ground quickly enough to drop off his rider. C'tari's feet had barely graced the ground when Feronamth lept into the air. He bellowed as he flew knowing full well how much ground he would have to make up. He could fly faster than any dragon, he would not give up yet.
C'tari scrambled on the ground, the lust and rage from his dragon were the only things he was truly conscious of. He could see the mass of bronze and brown as specs high above him, and a smaller golden glint toying with them.
He changed direction to make use of an updraft and to fly directly toward the queen instead of following the path of her pursuers.
C'tari knew he needed to be elsewhere, his face twisted in stress remembering for a moment that his dragon had not bled before the flight, he would not have as much energy.
I am strong, it was their voice together. A single thought. C'tari ran, but in which direction he wasn't completely sure. He had to be with the other riders, he had to catch up to them, he needed to find the queen. He needed to catch the queen...

Basarith mirrored the queen's movements, wings stretched full out to catch every available thermal that passed the membrance, gliding up higher and higher towards his goal. The chilly moisture of the clouds as it passed over his hide went unnoticed, his eyes set on nothing but the muted form of his queen still so many dragonlengths away.
Then he saw the brown ahead of him and heard the challenging hiss. He would have none of that and he showed it by bellowing back and strengthening the beat of his wings, spurred on by the "lesser" dragon's appearance.
On the ground, V'lyrn had finally stumbled to the Weyrwoman's Quarters and taken position close to her, but he was completely unaware as to anyone else there. His eyes swam with images of clouds and blue sky with flashes of the gold female, as well as pictures of the brown and other bronzes. His blood running high with lust.

((is it ok for me rp in here?))
Heroe nearly fainted as she made it up to the ledge of the blue. She had ran all the way from the grounds just as she heard the queen's challenging bellow. Not realizing that the blue was still there she sat down on the edge of it watching as the bronzes and browns flew off after the Queen. "This is wonderful!" She cried to herself she then takes out a blank parchment and began writing her song.
"Upon the wings of passion Doth the queen dragon fly Her suitors give chase Yet she flies higher and faster Who will win such a race And who will the queen's rider embrace?"
She paused and leaned back against something soft, she didn't take any mind of it because she was watching the queen's mating flight. She didn't even notice that what she was leaning against was a blue whom was also watching the flight.

Z'van watched through dragon eyes as the queen dissapeared into the cloud. His heart beat fiercely in his chest, the wind brushed against his face, every muscle sang with the flight, and he was truly One with Zanylith.
The mating flights always amazed him in this sense. From the moment of hatching and impression, a rider and his or her dragon were never separated, never alone, always linked through the mind and heart. It was such a wonderful feeling, to know that always, there would be someone there for you, someone to comfort you, that you would never again be alone. To have that love and devotion fill your being entirely was a feeling only a dragonrider could know, a feeling oft envied by others. But the mating flights were different, you were closer than ever to your dragon, it was as if you were of one body and one mind, each tremor of emotion amplified by the bond and passed through two beings, each sensation of the flight shared by both dragon and rider. It was times like thisthat made Z'van truly thankful to be a dragonrider.
-- A hiss and a bugle of challenge sounded below Zanylith. He snaked his neck around, tracing the sound; not as deep and commanding as Ariath's golden rumble, but still worrisome. With a half open mouth, he returned the hiss, thepurple of lust tinged with a red flash of anger as he registered the brown dragon below, gaining on the prize. Tallith. What place does a brown have in a mating flight? the bronze beast trumpeted his anger as the brown found a thermal and began a swift ascent. this just wouldn't do!
Zanylith wheeled on the thermal, watching as the queen dissapeared into the murky cloud, her silhouette barely visible through the sun-struck mass. He rode it a few dragonlengths higher, then tucked his wings against his spine, and using his lashing tail and hind legs as a kind of rudder, dropped from his lofty height down towards the cloud, the queen, and the hopeful pursuers.
His inner eyelids closed against the wind, translucent membranes barely shielding the maelstrom glow of his eyes, the massive bronze plunged into and through the cloud, opening his wings just as he exited through the bottom and shooting upwards once more towards the brown and gold forms above him. Let Tallith try and claim her, if he wanted. Zanylith would be sure he had a hard time of it.

Even though Heroe didn't have her own dragon, her heart was pounding with the great sense of passion, she watched as the bronzes moved closer and a brown just a few dragon lengths behind. Before she forgot her words she scribbled more onto the parchment.
"Passion felt by one and all The queen taunts and flirts hoping her suiters will fall. She shines like the sun in a golden shine (sp?) Full of power, lust devine. Fly high fly strong bronze and brown Chase her high, chase her down. To win her heart and beat the rest That will be your final test."
She looked up again to watch more still resting her back against her "soft" stone. Still not knowing it was a blue dragon she was leaning on.

Somehow, K'rel managed to sumble the rest of the way to the Queen's weyr without falling off a ledge and killing himself. His eyes almost seemed to have glazed over, seeing nothing of his surroundings, only those of his dragon. With his gaze locked on the golden queen before him, the Wingsecond shuffled across the stone floors towards the Weyrwoman's quarters. He sensed more than saw Ephia when he reached her, taking his place in the circle of riders and giving his mind up to Siventh.
The dragon surpressed a bugle of triumph when he felt his rider relent; the strain of K'rel's control had caused him to lag behind a bit, distracted from his queen. His head swiveled up to focus on the golden beauty a good distance ahead of him, eyes that had faded with the distraction of his bond now regained their deep purple hue. He followed his queen from a distance, wings lazily beating in time with the gold's, eyes picking out the waves of thermals to add speed to his flight.
His relaxed concentration abruptly snapped with Tallith's challenge, eyes moving from his gold to lock on the brown, noticing him for perhaps the first time. A tint of red rose in his eyes when Zanylith answered the call with his own, gaze briefly moving to the bronze before returning to the queen, his queen, his Ariath.
His maw opened in a trumpeted challenge of his own, and his motions lost their casual edge. Siventh's eyes found the thermals, wingbeats altering to be a bit slower, focusing more on the strength behind them. The rising warm air and the powerful beats of his wings soon brought him level with the other males, though the queen was still a good distance ahead.
For now, he preferred it that way. Let the others tire themselves out rushing after her. If the air stayed warm, he could keep this pace for a good while, and hopefully put on the burst of speed at the end that would make Ariath his.
His queen dissappeared into a cloudbank, and Siventh winged low beneath it, back just skimming the puffs of dewdrops. He saw the flash of gold that meant Ariath had left the clouds, eyes following her rippling motions into a turn, mimicing them only a second behind her. Turning on a wingtip, he beat his wings once to level out and caught the thermal behind her, wings resuming their earlier beat, the other forgotten for a time. Yes, they were there, but he need not bother over them. Ariath would be his.

Round 2 Re-cap
- Ariath is doing a mighty fine job of keeping a good distance between her and her pursuers. - Tallith is doing his best to keep up with Ariath and had vocalized his distaste of any other dragon getting her. - Feronamth ditched his rider as quickly as he could and took the the sky in an attempt to get himself into the ranks of those chasing the queen. -Basarith is keeping up fairly well with the queen and the others in pursuit though he doesn't appear to be happy about a brown in the chase and picks up speed. -Zanylithis another bronze who isn't too pleased about the vocalizing brown and picked up thermals to help him gain some height before dropping through the clouds and opening his wings to ascend back to the group in am impressive display - Siventh is doing well with keeping a reserve for later and is taking the flight easily at the moment.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Round 3 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Swirling storms of purple lust, Ariath's eyes barely took in the passing surroundings which quickly move past her. The only thing on her mind was to fly fast and hard, but who said a little teasing couldn't be in the program. That was what made it fun, wasn't it?
In one sudden movement she pulled her wings against her body as she plumet towards the ground, spreading her pinions to full capacity and turning to fly under the males and back in the direction they had just come. Warm thermals helped her gain height once again as she soared upward with minimal thrusts of her wings.
Ephia would have taken a sharp intake of air if she was upon her golden queen as she dropped like dead weight through the air, but being with her queen through such an incredible mental link only thrilled her as she knew that this was only a game, and why not have fun with those who want to claim her? It's only rightfully fair.
The sun's warm golden rays licked upon Ariath's back as she finally leveled out before snaking her head to look behind her once agian. Would anyone fall out of the flight? Were they all still behind her? Or has an incredible distance been created?

Heroe lost all thought as she watched the dragons. Her pen to the parchment slowly slipped out of her hand as her eyes grew wide with excitment. Who was going to win? Who?

Heroe heard a voice, then she flet the ground under and behind her move. She turned around and saw to her shock a large blue. WIth a gasp she dropped her parchment and pen, taking a step back to the edge of the platform. Heroe's eyes never looked away, not even when she began to slip off the edge.

Heroe yelped as the large blue caught her, not in fear but in pain, her wounds were reopening again causing blood to seep through the bandages and show into her torn sea blue turnic. "I'm sorry for leaning on your dragon," Heroe cried wincing " I didn't see him there..."
