My last customer today was nuts. He came in an hour before we close and wanted what ended up being a $300 copy job done *now*. He was there till about a 1/2 hour after we closed. When the managers asked me if I was happy I said yes, he kept getting close to me and he smelled awful. I called a manager to help me laminate because I wanted he gone.

Note: A job like that takes at least 1 day, usually 2.

i'm thinking of getting a tent just for the poles to make a giant fabric tardis box-kite style.

also, i'm glad the event forum thread is still active, it's gonna be sad if they lock it eventually.

also also, i'm leaving thursday for conventioneering fun. one of my friends had insisted that i not wear my trademark rainbow coat out in public this year because according to her it makes me "look like a gay time lord". rofl

no, you see, the coat is one thing, but the 8 foot long rainbow scarf that matches the coat? yeaaah, now THAT makes me look like a gay time lord. xd if i ever wore them both together, it could warp reality as we know it and make ducks turn purple and fall from the sky, or just look really, REALLY crazy like a knitting machine exploded...

I want to go to a con so bad and now they have one realy close to where I live, but it's a matter of money and transportation. Grrrrr.

Luckily I have a few friends that I go to cons with and we all split the room costs (never telling the guy at the desk how many people are going to be in the room, of course, lol), so it's not too bad. Apparently if you are in a party of 4+ people, some hotels make you get more than one room... Only made that mistake once xp

I've seen that happen Artemis. Also, this hotel charges by people in the room, 1-2 is 93/night or 3-4 is $103/night. But none of my friends want to go execpt those that already live in Dallas (which I wish I still did).

the most we've sneakily jammed into a hotel room was 9 i think... no wait... (does math) 3 in one bed, 2 in the other, 2 between the beds on the floor, 3 more on the floor at the foot of the beds, and one in the closet.

The girl in the closet was tiny anyway, but yeah, we were WAYYYYYY over the room capacity. the fire inspectors would have had fits. thankfully it was only for one night, we managed to pool resources and get our own room for the overflow. we got screwed on staff rooms that year, the hotel decided to sell off part of the reserved block of our rooms, so 1/3rd of the staff had to double and triple up, and then some as.... er, nice young man decided to take over an entire room for just himself and his entourage, who were NOT on staff, and after the conchair found out, neither was he for much longer.

my first year at otakon we had that too, but in one of the little hotels up on the hill, so it was not only overcrowding but a 10-15 minute walk uphill through downtown baltimore at 1am to get to the hotel.

baltimore at 1am smells like homeless pee, rusty trash cans, salty damp basement, and dead fish on a hot august night, by the way. gonk

no offense to anyone actually from baltimore, i hope. sweatdrop

and yeah, some will charge by how many you have, and some charge just by room. ohayocon consistently gets screwed by their hotel, so some of the staff just pays their own way at the drury inn, which is also attached to the convention center.

two words: FREE BAR. 2 free alcoholic drinks a night, free buffet-style breakfast, and a drink machine that is on and accessible 5am until 9pm, also free to get drinks from as long as you are staying there. (or if you find a friend who's staying there, and they let you use their card on the door to get in. i think it was like 99 bucks a night the year we had to stay there. even their floors had extra padding under the carpets! burning_eyes

(is MadHatterzMouse)

The most people in a room... 7, I think at Ushicon, wow it's been so long. I know one guy was sleeping in the bathtube (which I was not happy about), then we walked in to find him in bed under the covers with two of the other girls.

Worst con hotel issue (which promoted my rules) was a girl I let stay in my room, vice-prez of the college anime club, brought in a total stranger in and madeoutormaybemore on the floor of the hotel room which I was paying for. Needless to say I'm a light sleeper.

At one con I was staying with someone else, and one of the others staying came in very early and flipped on the lights. Again, not a happy camper then.

Umm, Ikkicon didn't book enough rooms for staff and guests, so guess who had to give up their rooms. This is my the vice-con-chair can't convince me to come work for him (that and at one point I was the person left in charge of the entire con because of issues the caused everyone else to leave the premises).

Cons are the one weekend that I don't get much sleep, then end up crashing when I get home for one reason or another.

Most people in one room=8. 2 in each bed (2 beds), 2 in the chairs, and 2 on the floor. I was one of the unlucky ones on the floor sweatdrop It was kind of funny; since only 4 of us had keys, we had to go everywhere in preset pairs so groups always had at least one keyholder. Not as easy to organize as you would think.
I know what you're thinking--keys could have been passed around accordingly. If we'd have done that we'd have had a lot of explaining to do come checkout time. Not everyone was exactly responsible with their property...

No, I understand that Artemis. For my friends (the other ones who usually get the room) I'm one of the key holders because I'm responsible and almost everyone else has my number or theirs. Key holders are pre-determined by whether they can be found if they are needed (which Josh, Kat, and I can).

My friends and I had cramed 17 people in 1 hotel room once just to party. That was fun. I woke with sandwiched between 2 blonds I never met and a guy sleeping with his head in my lap. It was rather fun.

To party, I've seen more than that in a room, however I didn't stick around all night... I had a morning shift and girls were taking off their shirts (not entirely sure they were legal either). I think that party ended up with like 30 something people total.
PostPosted: Wed Aug 26, 2009 8:24 am

I missed out on a fun party last month. All the guys were ordered to strip. crying I totally missed out.
I'm usually the one at parties getting nude or lighting something (or myself) on fire. Last time I belive I did both while threatening my best friend with a toilet plunger.

Edit: And all without any drugs or alchihol, that's just how I roll lol.
