"Why not?" She asked him frowning. It didn't matter to her if he couldn't see well or if he could. She still loved him. But maybe he just didn't realize it. "I don't care, it doesn't change anything," she told him full of confidence. "I promise you that it won't change anything." She shook her head before leaning in to nuzzle his neck.
"Because I love you," she pulled back to watch his expression. "and I'd be lost without you."

It didn't change anything? She truly felt that way? Even after he had lied to her and used her and... And yet, she wasn't mad or angry? Well, he'd known Illena since their juvenile days, he should have known that she wouldn't be mad. She was sweet and kind and she understood.
So why hadn't he told her?
Because he was ashamed. He had too much pride. Too much ego.
His ears fell and then they lifted again almost immediately.
She loved him?
His heart did a funny little dance then and, without warning, he nuzzled his head against her. "I..." He swallowed. Why was it so hard to speak his true feelings? Lack of practice? Or just being afraid? He sure did feel like a coward right now.
"I love you too." He ended, finally. "And I'd literally be lost without you." He pressed his face close against her neck. "But Illena...I'm not a good lion."

Illena smiled as she leaned in to touch her nose against his. "I know," she replied pressing her cheek against his neck. Finally after being so torn, so confused everything made sense to her again. Her feelings were out in the open and they were returned, something she had always known even before Rokopelli told her. The goddess was just confirming information she knew, or at least thought she knew.
"It's okay," she told him, shaking her head. "And it'll be okay, you have me and I love you for you," she paused to exhale deeply. "No matter what you're Cassian and that's who I love." It was as simple as that to her. They had been together for so long, they had grown with each other even. She couldn't leave him now, or ever even, he had a part of her.

So it seemed, for once in her life, Rokopelli had helped with her meddling.
Well, there was a first time for everything.
Cassian couldn't contain the smallest of purrs, its sound rough and unpracticed. When had he last purred? He couldn't actually recall right now and to be honest he didn't much care. The past mattered little to what was happening now at this moment in time.
He felt his face heat at her words, knowing already that this 'mushy stuff' was going to come difficult for him. It was a new and strange experience to speak with his heart.
"I guess we're stuck with each other then." He replied, casting her an embarrassed sort of smile.
Because he wouldn't leave her either, she had a part of him, too.
