About a year back, my buddy alex got me 3 of these I thought they were silly at first, but I ended up really liking them. To the point ware they are all I use.

Brain May much ???

He used a Quint I think, I'm note sure though. Anyway that's got to be rough on your strings, right? Do you get any weird overtones using those?

It can be, lower gauge strings break a little easier. It gives my Strats a good amount more twang. There about the size of Jazz picks, (maybe a little bigger, but not by much) so I have a good amount of speed and control with them.

Useing a metallic pick gives you a bit of a "Metallic" undertone.
I dont really advise people to use a metal object as a pick unless they dont have any normal guitar picks on them.

but a pick is a pick to me :]
If I can hold it between my thumb and index finger Im good to go.

This is probably because I'm not a guitarist, but I never liked picks. Fingerpicking always seems far more natural, and fingernails are there to protect you when you're strumming... Or am I missing something obvious?

i'm a fan of the Jazz III's... these V-picks seem intentionally overpriced as to make your brain think they are better than they really are...

Those shits are wayyyyy to tiny for me

I always ended up dropping them and haveing to buy more after they would disappear.

thats how it was for me at first... but now i cant even use anything else, lol...

Don't feel bad.
He's a tone nazi.
They do that.
Essentially your thumb creates less of a sharp attack at the string than a pick does, creasing less sustain, less volume, and less power over your guitar.
Seeing as the cardinal rule of guitar is "Control the guitar. Don't let the guitar control you" (a nice little tip for all of you guys who think expensive guitars/amps/effects etc. will make you a better guitarist) you use a pick to create a powerful sound. Fingerpicking is fine for beginners seeing as it feels more natural, (I used to play classical, and it does feel more natural) but the general idea behind picks is to give you more control and power.
