Ephie didn't lower her voice, as her's was a neautral tone that didn't rise. She also knew that how far away they were coupled with the waterfall would not let their voices carry. As a huntress, she also didn't hear anyone. They were close enough too, that she doubted her voice would go far.
At the plan, she didn't hesitat to ask. Her tone didn't suggest she was for or against the idea, but asking to clearify it. "Yes, and one that wouldn't be too noticable in the wounds of the animial. We only take several bites and tears to bring an animal down, but if the animal was large and tempting, the excuse for lots of claw and teeth marks would work to place the herb in. It would also have to be hidden. If there is something that looks out of place, then it would be suspicious and everyone gets punished. Do you know if there are any members of the male pack that doesn't know a thing or two about herbs? Just because they are not healing others doesn't mean someone might not know the plant."

“Xibalba seems like the only brains in the whole outfit. It’s the hyenas that worry me most. Their noses are keener than our own. Even if we can’t smell the herbs, they might.” Her tone was serious. She knew that her plan was not to be implemented on a whim. The circumstances needed to be ripe before their strike. Even if Lorelei had the poisonous herbs right now she wouldn’t dare sneak them into a carcass until the males’ guard was down. She stood, stretching her legs.
“I’m afraid I need to be getting back to finding that red moss. If I’m gone much longer my ‘Master’ will start to get suspicious.” She looked at Elphaba and straightened. “For now it’s nothing more than wishful thinking. Let’s keep it between the two of us, hm? We should meet again soon.”
Of course, she hoped to see her plan come to reality in the future. Best to keep it under wraps for now. With so many skittish females in the pride, there were a lot of loose lips wandering around.

That was true. The hyenas could be their greatest obstacle. She had seen them circling in groups, a cluster of servants, laughing to themselves as they traveled the grounds. There were many eyes in this gorup of overtakers, and plenty of things to consider when making a plan to overthrow a higher power. For now, Elphaba was glad Lorelei was not rushing with her plan out of rash despreation.
When the lioness went to find her moss, Elphie called out to her. "Lorelei! What makes you trust me? I'm a new addition to this pride before the takeover. Did you think that I could be a spy?"

Lorelei paused and turned back. Elphaba spoke the truth; there are many creatures in this world who cannot be trusted. In times like this it pays to be suspicious. Yet about Elphaba, there was no question. “Is that so?” she called with a smirk. “I don’t believe it. You’re too scrupulous to work with the likes of those brutes.”

Elphie smiled, settling herself back to laying down on the rock she had chosen. “Now I wish I could prove you wrong just so you know not to be mislead by your eyes. Be careful, Lorelei, and do try and keep yourself safe from that animal you have to return to. Don't let that rebellious spirit of yours get the best of you. I would like to see it intact next time we meet.”
