James swallowed hard all of a sudden and stood. Kristof would be angry. He was always so angry.
"Aa dadda doh," he tried to enunciate, staring off in the other direction.
"'Orry, 'orry!"

Amie flicked her tail and stood with him. "Why so sudden?" She said, her face in a tight, sad frown. "Can I at least walk with you? I mean, it's not right to just cut it like that, ya know?" She asked, scratching her ear in her own confusion. Once James was gone, she'd be kind of lonesome. He was the first to talk to her (well, she had talked to him, rather) that had no care of her appearance. She picked up the garbage and threw it away in the recycle can, before she turned to look back at James through her glasses.

James gasped deeply. Oh, God. The first person he'd ever met who didn't look at him strangely. Kristof would love it. He would praise him.
No, he couldn't. Just this time, he would be selfish.
"NO!" he shrieked, holding his hands up, waving them at Amie and shaking his head, "NO!"

Aimie's ears dropped clearly. "Oh. Okay then." She frowned once more, before perking back up, smiling toothily at James. "Then we'll meet again, yes?" She asked with a nod, almost like a child would hoping to meet a playmate again. "I mean, maybe I'll bring more food with me? We both have an appetite~" She seemed thrilled at this, and it showed in her cat yellow eyes. Her tail swished behind her, showing how happy she had suddenly became.
