Ryu had walked in just before the teacher had started talking quietly sank into a desk. He heard the question but he didn't really follow to many of the laws, so he just sat there and listened to the others answer. He would have his chance to answer.

Delila grimaced a little at Ginger's answer. She had forgotten that Chelsea was her older sister and that they didn't exactly see eye to eye. She mouthed quick appology and pulled out a note book as the professor started talking. Transfiguration wasn't her best subject, but she really enjoyed it and didn't want to miss a thing... if only she could remember what she had learnt last year.

Will smiled brightly and then said "The late will always rise it seems. Five points to Gryffondor for the correct answer and five more for telling me the laws. It will be another five points to someone who can give me something else which can't be Transfigured. " Will wasn't quite expecting that answer to begin with but Will had gotten quite used to expecting the unexpected these day.

Will clapped his hands together and then pointed his finger at the young girl shouting out "Bingo! Five points to Ravenclaw! Ya'know, I was a Ravenclaw myself when I was a young boy. But never mind that! Now that we've established the things we can't transfigure let's move onto those things that we can! The possibilities before us are endless."
Will smiled lightly and then moved closer to his pupils saying "Now, as you can see before each of you is a toad. Today we will Transfiguring said toad into something else. Now, who here can tell me for your first day why I would choose a toad rather then say a rat or different mammal?"

Laurel began to stare at her shoes. Her knowledge of transfiguration had run dry at Porfessor Greenthorn's newest question. Lauie looked over at the other girl to answer his question about Gamp's Law. Atop her tome-like textbooks was a drawing pad with several neat looking pictures. Beneath the table, Laurel pointed to the pictures and with a thumbs up mouthed "Those are really cool". Laurel then proceeded to pull out some parchment and a quill to take notes on trasnfiguring toads versus rats. Don't know the difference, they're both ugly enough she thought.

Persephone pondered the professor's question. Perhaps because toads go through such a drastic natural transformation themselves? no, that seemed too 'muggle.' there was probably a magical reason of some sort. either way, persephone didn't raise her hand. she was actually enjoying watching everyone else answer questions rather than answering herself, for once.

Ryu thoight this question was obvious, and when no one answered, he raised his hand and said, "Because they're a very simple organism, thus making it easier to transfigure."

Will had begun to worry about his students, he had thought that to be the easiest out of the questions. "Thank you Ryu, five points to Slytheryn. You see, a toad is much simpler then a mammal structurally. Therefore, for a first lesson I want you to work with toads." Will reached for his wand and then held it in his hand, clear for all of the class to see "Transfigurations is all about proper incantation recital and very proper wand movements. You must be precise with both. Now students, do as I do and repeat as I say. "Vertos lamnis" Will uttered out moving his wand in a specific motion. The goal right now was just to make sure they could go through the movements.

Trista frowned at the correct answer. She honestly had overthought the question, thinking the answer was more complex. She pushed her thoughts aside though and listened to the teacher's instructions. She pulled out her wand, still watching the professor, then copied his exact wand motion, and recited 'Vertos lamnis."

Laurel watched Professor Greenthorn's movements very carefully. Before picking up her wand, she practiced the movements in her hand and wrist, dissecting each motion. She barely audibly mumbled the incantation, getting every syllable right. When she felt she understood, Laurel lifted her wand and said "Vertos lamnis" to exhibit comprehension.

Will watched as the students repeated his action. Some were sketchy but most everyone did it well enough. Will smiled lightly and then uttered out "Exellent class. Now, I'm going to start you off with a fairly difficult Transfiguration. THis is to get a feel where all of you are at skill wise, I honestly don't expect you to get this fully right. That incantation I taught you is importaint because it will work when transfiguring all amphibians."
Will walked down to an empty seat in the back and removed one of the toads and then preceeded to walk back up to the front. He set the toad down on his desk and then said "I wish for you all to Transfigure your toad into a pocket watch. Extra credit if you can make it tick properly. If at first you don't suceed, try, try again. Also don't try and pull a switcharoo on me, I can tell the difference between a transfigured watch and a man made.
"It is very importaint that you envision a watch in your mind. I want you to feel the watch, and feel how it feels. Feel the cogs grinding against eachother. Imagine each number on the face...if you do it correctly the product should be as such..."Will clicked the wand against his desk twice, almost as if it was a nervous habit and then uttered out "Vertos Lamnis!" While doing the precise movment he had taught.
Quickly the toad before Will began to change shape, molding before him, changing it's everything. The toad didn't seem to mind, it was obvious this was not painful for him. After about seven seconds Will picked up the once toad and popped open the front of the watch, revealing all the numbers, and a dull "Tick...tick...tick...tick" echoed throughout the classroom.
"Now please remove your toads and do I as did."

Laurel looked at the toad in front of her. "You're going to transfigure into a watch, got it?" She reached a hand into the cage and grimaced as she grabbed the toad. Laurie closed her eyes and imagined a pocketwatch in her mind's eye: It was sleek and gold. The hands were a little rusted but it ticked at is rightful pace. She delved deeper and saw each metal cog, intertwining together. When ready, Laurel opened her eyes, lifted her wand and said "Vertos Lamnis." With a rebellious ribbit, the toad slowly transfigured into the pocketwatch she just imagined. Laurie smiled triumphantly. Everything seemed right, until she looked harder at the second hand and frowned. "You've got to be kidding me..." The watch was running backwards.

Ryu removed his toad from the cage and imangined his grandfather's pocket watch. He pointed his wand at the toad and said, "Vertos Lamnis!" and the taod instantly started to change. At the end of it's change, Ryu looked hard at it from all angles, making sure he got it right. As far as he could see, it was correct. Except for a small bump on the side he thought might be a wart.
