I think I understand what you're trying to say. Basically, the actually board itself is not the thing that is necessarily 'paranormal' - it's what the people do with it.

Ouija boards are caused by the vibrations of your hands when holding it. What happens is your hands shake the board unconciouselly while holding it, making it move over more and more letters until you spell something. This is in the category of fake s**t, because it never works. If you've used one before, and have"spirits" answer you back, you might want to be examined by a psychiatrist... sweatdrop

You're perfectly entitled to put forward ideas and theories, give positive or negative feedback and espouse your opinion, but when you decide to claim outright in no uncertain terms that everyone who has ever had some success with a ouija board may be mentally ill as though you had a firm working knowledge of the DSM, while utilising incorrect scientific claims to put on some air of wisdom, we might decide to call you out on your bullshit masquerading as supposed scientific know-how.

That all makes perfect sense. I have a lot of friends who have gotten into some pretty scary situations because they didn't take what they were doing seriously.

I have to say, Ouija boards could be dangerous if you don't know what you are dealing with. That is why I don't mess with them unless I have no other option left open to me. But that's just me.
In regards to the initial post, I both agree and concur. Those are the best guidelines to using a Ouija board and not to mention the information is accurate for the most part.

Hmm... I want to contact the ghost in my closet. But I'm not sure if he's here anymore. A priest came to our house a few months ago and I haven't smelt him yet... Should I still use the board?

I honestly have yet to get a bad experience, and I haven't heard of any of my friends or anyone really for sure having a bad experience.
I guess all the stories I read online, I get a little creeped out, but mostly they just get the feeling of fear than anything happening.
Guess I'll play with fire til' I get burned?

It depens. If you liked the spirit and want it back then using a board may allow it to come back to your closet. If you don't and called in the priest to get rid of it then don't, you'll be allowing it to come back into your house.

Personally I believe it is mostly based on how effectively you can use the ouija board, also what type of person and intentions you have.
Some people have the purpose to "open portals" for some strange reason, if it actually were to happen, it mostly because they wanted it to, or subliminally hoped it would happen.
Either that or somebody extremely inexperienced summoning the wrong entity. Its not really a portal, just contacting the wrong spirit that may or may not be malicious in nature

Should I still use the board? if you had to use a priest to get rid of it then you should just wait to see if its gone for good, dont try to contact it because then it may come back

Hey everyone, I'm new to the guild.
I don't have any experience from oujia boards aside from a lot of reading about stories from different sources and it seems that if you use it...you open up a portal for anything to talk to you through. If someone were to try to talk to a dead relative...you might just get a demon disguised as said relative. Is it worth it? I personally want to try it just because of the experience. The more things you try, the wiser you get I always say...(Not really, that was the first time I said that. xd )

Boards also normally work better when they are blessed.
They are also tools, just like tarot and such, its what your using it for, that can have positive and negative effects. Its really down to how you use it.
Also for those who keep saying how dangerous it is. Contacting spirits alone can be dangerous. Yah you can run into a dark spirit using the board.. but same can happen with summoning, open welcoming a spirit to you, using other methods of spirit contacting.
So its not the board, its how you use it. Take precautions, have a spirit guide, or guardian there with you. Use a prayer, use protection ect. before ever trying to contact a spirit.
Any ways the fact its a tool, means it isn't limited to contacting spirits. Im sure you could use it for devinition and such as well. Once again.. its how you use it.
