Violet ears stood at attention, listening to the voice that came from the delicate-looking pink helix. His lips twitched, a smile threatening to break out into a joyous grin. Was it just him, or did it sound as if she was a touch concerned about him? Fain, however, just nodded in reply. "I shall follow your advice. Thank you." Though it was unlikely he could get a group together, much less stick with them during a travel to the north.. Perhaps the young lady Aliana might travel with him?
Fain watched Aliana's reaction curiously, the horrible expression on her face, taking a step back. His head fell to the side curiously. "How would it be ridiculous?" His voice was strangely quieter, curious. A reassuring smile appeared on his face. "If your afraid of appearing bad.. Fear not. Who else is around to hear? And I certainly do not judge." Her following compliments took him by surprise, but only made him smile. "But how will you know where you stand, if you wont try?" He asked lightly, followed by a smile of the same tone.
Why was he trying so hard to hear her sing? In truth, he wanted to hear that inner voice. Her speaking voice, as much as she may deem it not so, was very pleasant to his ears. (Though he knew not all speaking voices were as pleasant as their singing ones. His sister's being amongst that ranking, though he loved her all the same.)

Aliana huffed, spotting that annoying grin trying to come out on the males face. “Why are you so happy? I was just passing on a warning.” She was, despite her grouchy exterior, a fairly protective helix. She hated seeing other people hurt, unless they deserved it of course, but she had a feeling Fain would get hurt if he went to the north alone. She didn't want to see that happen, though she didn't stop to think why.
“I would sound stupid,” she protested, “that's how it would be ridiculous!” She scowled at his reassuring smile, hating that it was actually working. “Of course you would judge, everyone judges. Subconsciously or not.” She glanced down at the ground, frowning before looking up at him. “Anyway, I don't even know any songs! So I can't sing.” It was an excuse, but it was true, Aliana had never been around music, so she had no song she knew to sing, even if she wanted to. The most she did was hum, and that was only when she was by herself or lonely or both.

The grin was still afixed to his face, the brash words not effecting him. He was always happy; it was rare to see him not so. The image of the adament female traveling with him had most of his attention, somewhat lost in the dream of his. Granted, it would make life a lot more interesting (and less lonely) if he had someone to wander with...
Stupid? Fain blinked, being brought back from his reverie. The violet male just shook his head slightly, unwilling to give up. He was persistant, a gentle smile replacing the leering one of moments ago. "I'm the only one around to hear you; and I certainly don't share secrets. And besides," he paused lightly, pulling his head back as his ears twitched, a solemn look overtaking his features but for a moment. "should you not like it, you wont have to do it any more."
Fain paused, a gentle smile washing over him once more. "That shouldn't hinder you." It was only a partial excuse, but one Fain could get over. Plus, it almost seemed like he was winning her judgement... slowly. "Anything can be made into a song, even if it's just seeing what's around you."

Aliana eyed the male a little suspiciously, the large grin on his face was a little disturbing. Not because he had a bad smile, it really suited him actually and made him look quite handsome, it was just the fact it was so large. Aliana was rarely around grinning helixes and had never seen as big a smile as Fain's.
When it dropped down again to that pleasant smile, rather then that somewhat creepy grin, she relaxed a little. Her expression was skeptical. “Everyone shares secrets, whether they mean to or not,” she retorted. Frowning when the solemn look crossed his features, a look that clearly didn't suit him. He just looked strange without a smile on his face. “If I don't like it, you'll stop bothering me about it?” She said slowly, trying to ignore the annoyance of wanting the smile back on the males face.
Her tail flicked in pleasure when the smile returned, though the frown was still on her face. “Fine, fine,” she sulked, “I'll sing something,” she scowled at the floor trying to think of something to sing. She stayed silent for a few moments, then huffed. “I can't think of anything,” she muttered. “I'm just not lyrical. Not like you,” she looked up, rolling her eyes a little.

Fain glanced at her curiously, pondering over her secret-sharing retort. It was possible; but who did he have to share secrets with? The wind, his sister(when he saw her..). However, he was brought, once again, from his thoughts by her question. It made a smile light up on his face excitedly. Was she truly going to sing for him? "You have my word~" He lightly sang, his tail flicking happily.
His smile broaded as she gave in, watching as she thought of something she could sing. Fain waited patiently, his tail curling around his paws slightly, his gray eyes flitting shut for the moment. The wind brushed by his ears, crooning that natural melody into his brain and it began a struggle to bite back that tune that threatened to escape from him. Finally, he lost that uphill battle(as he always did), crooning softly, "You would not believe your eyes, if ten million fireflies, light up the world as I fell asleep.."
His eyes slowly opened, glancing back at Aliana and giving a soft smile as she spoke. Her eyeroll made him chuckle softly. "Then stop thinking," he spoke as soft as his smile. "Just relax, clear your mind; listen to what's around you."

Aliana huffed a little at his happy expression, though there was a fission of happiness in her chest at seeing him light up so much. She rarely made people happy, but it seemed her presence was enough to make this helix smile. It was a nice feeling, though she'd rather not admit to it.
As he sung his promise, she winced a little. Unable to believe that she had agreed to do this. She stared at the ground, trying to think. Glancing up in surprise when he sung softly, her eyes softened a little at the words. It was such a soft song. Fireflies, she had used to chase them when she was younger. Of course, she had also eaten them but that wasn't of importance. Though they had been tasty.
Sighing, she closed her eyes in response to Fain. Relaxing as best she could, she tried to listen. She couldn't clear her mind, even if she pushed away on the superficial thoughts, in her mind, there were still her pups, her parents, her family. She glanced down at the ground, staring at the little blue wild flower at her feet. Beside it, a even smaller pink one sat. She began to hum, a tune in her head. She shifted in embarrassment, unable to believe what she was about to do. “I'll sing it one last time for you~ Then we really have to go ~ You've been the only thing that's right ~ In all I've done~ Light up, light up~ As if you have a choice~ Even if you cannot hear my voice~ I'll be right beside you dear,” she sung softly. It was almost too quiet to hear but she had a feeling Fain would hear it anyway. Her voice was soft and quiet, different from the one she spoke with. She sounded unsure but there was affection in her voice.

Fain waited quietly, watching her slightly. She was such an interesting helix; complex, but definately not in a bad way. Her stubborn attitude made him curious, wanting to peel back those many layers, to see what this beautiful pink female was all about. But one step at a time, anyway. She seemed to be warming up to him; she was going to sing, after all..
His train of thought was derailed as a soft humming reached his ears, his ears twitching to catch it better. Light gray eyes followed her gaze, spotting a pair of small flowers at her paws. Curious.. Her embarrassment was easily caught, and Fain was about to reassure her, when she began to sing.
A small tip of his head, his ears shifting to catch her words. Though they were low, he was able to catch them easily. His eyes had slipped shut, absorbing the small, uncertain tones she sung. The words made a soft smile flit across his face; the emotions in her voice spoke louder then her words did. Emotions felt behind your words could make all the difference in a song.
"That was amazing, Aliana." Fain spoke softly, his voice as genuine as his smile, a peaceful look haven overtaken his features. "Truly.. You really have a wonderful voice." He paused slightly, contemplating his next choice in words. "How did it feel?"

When she was singing, the only thing she could think about were her pups. The two little boys she had left behind without a word. She hadn't seen them since she'd left but she knew that Spectrum would be taking care of them. He loved them too much to hurt them or let them be hurt. She only wished that she could see them again. Light up, she hoped they were happy. She really did.
When her voice faded away, she continued to stare at the ground and at the flowers. When Fain began to speak, she tensed, expecting him to start to mock her...but his words were soft and without malice. Glancing up, her head still angled down, she watched him. She flushed, shifting in embarrassment in his compliments. Not to mention his smile, which was so soft and gentle. It made her want to smile back. “Thank you, Fain,” she muttered, embarrassment colouring her voice. She paused then, how did it feel? The song was... “Embarrassing,” she answered honestly, the first thing that came to her mind. She hesitated, staring down at the flowers and giving out a slightly bitter laugh, a dark noise that was nothing like her prior voice. “Lonely,” she added, a slight frown on her face, before glancing up at him fully for the first time after singing. She gave a somewhat sad half-smile, before shaking her head, the smile slipped from her face until she looked normal, like she had before she had even started to sing. "I don't think I'm meant to sing."

"Your welcome." The returned pleasantry meant very little, and in the right phase of mind, he wouldn't have. After all, he had spoken the truth. He hadn't needed to be thanked for speaking it. But still... pleasantries.
He noticed that she didn't quite look at him, not fully. There was definately something behind those words, though as to what, was curious. Her feelings piqued his curiosity even further. Embarrassment was natural, especially when doing something for the first time. The laugh she gave made a small chill run down his back. And it only made him want to know more. Lonely? Lonely was odd, definately. Granted from the lyrics of her song, however...
At her following statement, to say he was upset was minor. She had a wonderful voice; to see her slip from that warmed state, to back to her more stoic nature.. To hear her sing once more would've been lovely, but, "A promise is a promise." He reiterated a childish phrase, smiling at her. It was half-hearted, but he wouldn't push the matter. Promises needed to be kept. However, something that was restless at the back of his mind wouldn't leave him alone. "Aliana.. Is there a.. greater meaning, to your lyrics?" His voice was light, questioning. He didn't want to pry into business that he wasn't invited to.

Fain's words usually had meanings behind meanings in everything he said, so when he returned the pleasantry, Aliana was a little surprise. He was polite though, but it seemed to lack purpose. Why had he said it then, she wondered but didn't ask. It seemed a little to rude to ask why someone replied to your thanks. In fact, it seemed outright odd to ask something like that, so she firmly kept her mouth shut.
Glancing at Fain, she frowned. He seemed...upset? But why? Had her voice truly been that bad? She shifted, staring down at the ground. Damn, she hadn't meant to upset him with her voice, but it was obvious she had. Relieved when he mentioned the promise, her shoulders relaxed from relief. If her song was going to upset him, she never wanted to sing again.
Blinking in surprise, she raised her head when he asked about her song. She wanted to tense and snap at him that it was none of his business but his voice was light and nonthreatening. He obviously intended no harm or offense by the question and she found herself unable to snap at him. “Isn't there always a greater meaning behind lyrics?” She asked, trying to delay the answer to the question. She knew that if she refused to answer, he probably wouldn't push it but she wanted to answer. She was tired of secrets but, she couldn't help but wonder why it was him that he wanted to confess too, not her mother or siblings. Him.
“I want them to be happy,” she admitted quietly, clenching her paws unconsciously. She glanced at the flowers, realising with a pang in her heart that she had squashed them without noticing. Within shifting and clenching her paws, she had crushed them beneath her. She wanted to laugh but she couldn't. “They deserve to be happy...and they can't be with me.”

There were, more or less, always meanings behind lyrics. "Usually, yes." He confirmed with a nod of his head. Though, it was meant to be that way. Songs were meant to tell a spoken word tale, and turn it into a captivating method of story-telling. Songs were the poetic version of spoken word. Though, of course, not all songs did have deeper meanings. But they were few and far apart, as he could guess.
She looked upset, something was bothering him companion. And he was surprised to find that it bothered him in turn, as well. He wanted her to open up to him, to tell him what was truly bothering her. However, at that same notion, he also wanted to know what else made this unique helix tick. However, the violet helix was convinced that even if he spent an eternity with her, he'd never fully understand her. But that didn't stop him from wanting to try.
Them, to be happy? Questions flitted through his mind, and he could hazard many a guess. Family, friends? Aliana looked young to be a mother, but.. Mentally he scolded himself. It was wrong to make guesses; false accusations. He'd have to wait for Aliana to tell him, to hear the truth straight from her. However, her following elucidation helped clear up the possibilities, but he wouldn't allow himself to judge her.
"Who are 'they', Aliana?" He asked softly, his voice amiable as he lowered his head, his ears half shot back as silver eyes stayed trained on her. Fain didn't want to sound demanding or pushing, the last thing he wanted was for her to close back up when he'd made such progress to get her to open to him. It was a blind leap with his following comment, though he swallowed and tried, keeping that soft lull to his voice. "I'm sure they could be happy while in your presence.."

Aliana could remember a time when her, Spectrum and the pups had been happy. When she was still nursing them, she had been required to stay. This meant that, with a certain deal of reluctance, she was in something stable. It had been nice when it lasted but when the pups had been old enough for solids, she had left in a hurry. Spectrum would take care of their pups, he was a wonderful man but he just wasn't what she wanted.
She hadn't though she'd wanted something so lighthearted, she wanted someone she could talk with, discuss issues, and yet here she was, drawn once more to someone who smiled more than he thought. She wanted something serious, she thought bitterly. She wanted something real. She was sick of make-believe.
When he spoke, so quietly and softly, she looked up at him. He looked serious, but soft. He didn't look like he wanted to force her or make a joke about it. She opened her mouth, unsure as to what she was going to say. She closed it again with a snap and glanced back down at the flowers. She wanted to tell him. She wanted someone else to know.
“No,” she replied to his last statement first. “Faelan already hates me. I don't think he'll ever be happy with me around. Sato...he may forgive me,” she laughed, almost bitterly. It was a cold sound. She took a deep breath and continued to stare at the ground. This was it. “I have two sons.” It was out. “They live with their father. My eldest boy hates it when I come to visit, and my youngest hates it when I leave. I just can't win, not with them.” She still didn't look up. “I understand if you think different of me now.”

Fain was almost afraid to move, to speak another word. He waited for Aliana respond to his inquiries, to make some response. Admittably, his heart leapt slightly as she glanced up at him. But he didn't crack a smile. Instead, kept the delicate, serious mood over his features. He was waiting on baited breath for her to speak, now that she looked up at him.
Her quantifier startled him slightly, and for a moment he wondered if she was flat out refusing to answer him. However, she continued and he listened. Names that were unfamiliar to him were stored away, incase they were needed later. However, he quickly decided he didn't like that laugh. Her laughter earlier had been filled with much more life. The one to pass through her moments ago was cold, to the point where he had to press down a shudder. His ears pricked up as she paused, listening carefully.
However, once the big secret was out, Fain blinked slightly. He remained quiet throughtout the living arrangement explanation. However, the following statement did shock him slightly. She thought he'd think differently of her? The male sank into his thoughts slightly. Well, granted, it was a bit of a shock. But did it change his viewpoint of her?
Slowly, Fain stood to his full height. His mind had been made up. Slowly, he trot in a loose semi-circle, stopping when he came to rest next to Aliana. It had been impulse, but he had the feeling, the urge to go sit next to her. However, he may have overshot his distance, as her fur tickled against his lightly. "Why would I?"

Aliana flinched when, from the corner of her eye, she noticed him start to move. She was sure that he was getting up to leave her now. Why would he stay? She had pups, she was useless now. People would hate her because of her stupidity in youth but, as ashamed of her actions as she was, she couldn't regret her babies.
With a pang of saddness, she wanted to see them again. They had been pups when she'd seen them last, barely old enough for her leave. She hadn't seem them in too long. Would they remember her, would they forgive her? She didn't know.
Startling when she felt him rest next to her, she was surprised to find him so close. Instantly, she wanted to back away but his company was soothing. He hadn't left. He hadn't run away. Feeling his fur tickling hers, she wanted to shift, but she wasn't sure whether she wanted to move closer, or further away. Raising her eyes to meet his, she tried to think of how to answer it.
“Because I've had pups with someone I don't love,” well, that wasn't completely true. Aliana loved Spectrum in a way, just not the way that mattered most. “I'm barely old enough to take care of myself, let alone pups.” She shook her head, looking back at her paws. “My parents would be ashamed if they knew.” She left out the fact that her step father hated her, so he would probably be delighted to find a reason to throw her out.

Fain couldn't quite describe the surge of good feeling that ran through him as she glanced up at him. He'd been mildly afraid that the was too close; had overshot those boundaries. After all, he'd only met Aliana only a short time ago. Yet this talk, their banter felt no traces of alienation in it, the strangeness of meeting someone new and learning those boundaries to not cross. A light smile crossed his features as she glanced at him. One that was not so full of that blinding happiness at his first arrival. It was a smile of companionship, in an attempt to be as sympathetic as he could, as he'd not truly known what experience she was dealing with. But he was wiling to be a shoulder to lean on, and to try to comprehend.
"Everyone makes mistakes," He remarked lightly after a moment. "It's how we deal with them that sets it apart." The part of his philosophical part of his sister that had rubbed off on him was beginning to shine through; a seriousness that Fain rarely displayed. "But that shouldn't be a cause for abandonment. If anything but a cause for a rallying of support. You shouldn't have to deal with this alone." It was hard, to go through leaving something(be it friends, kin or otherwise) that was close or a part of you behind. Especially to deal with that separation alone. Separation, he could help with. "Parents can be quite understanding, though."
