He offered a deep bow to the two of them, greatful to see them again. He laughed at Tambaa, nodding at Kindoro as they offered their hellos.

"Well, it seems you did find me. I thank you for that; these old bones aren't as kind as they used to be. Tell me, what may I help the two of you with? Are you here to converse with this old lion, or merely on your way to another place on this soft, wonderful day?"

"We've made it to the only destination we had in mind upon setting out this morning." He nodded slowly, eyes dancing with a smile as he glanced back up. "Where we go afterward is up to the wind itself, but for now... We find ourselves here in your company, seeking conversation... And perhaps a story?" His brow lofted, tail swishing as he watched the elder male, not realizing that the look on his face very well may have mirrored the looks of his children moons ago when they'd asked him to recount a tale.

She nodded at her mate's words as she sat beside him. "We came just to find you. Tambaa said he wanted me to come with him to see you again." She was glad that the elder lions still seemed to be able to get around for the moment. Even though she had not known him long it would be a sad day when he passed.

"Aaaah, yes. I do remember that conversation. Well, that would be all right. Let me just settle in a moment here, since I'm sure you're going to want a tale, and it will be quite a long one."

He plodded over just a few feet away, where a little pile of dead grass lay. He settled himself in it, determining that sitting would be the best. If he got a little winded he could always lay down for a rest.

"As the two of you are like kin to me, it is probably best for you to hear the entire story of our history. It will be important for your children to know, as they are part of it too. As the now is a new chapter, there were many chapters before this one."

He leaned over to nudge Kindo gently before shifting on his paws so that he could follow after Tawa'di. He stopped not far from the elder lion so that he could sit and make himself comfortable as well, remaining close enough to listen but just far enough back to allow the other some room for comfort. It made his heart swell to think that Tawa'di viewed them as a part of this; viewed him as someone who could be acceptable.

He nodded slowly as the elder lion spoke of the story and of the importance of telling it again; making certain that their children, both present and those to come, knew the story...

She smiled as she snuggled down against Tambaa's side. She leaned against him and rested her head against his neck as she settled in to listen to Tawa'di's story. She felt it tug at her heart that he considered them kin, almost like she had gained a new father for the one that had dismissed her. She had only known the elder lion for such a short time but she respected him greatly.

"I will make sure that all children we may have will learn the story." She knew how important the history of your home could be. It was all part of who you were

He chuckled at Kindoro's comment, and found himself in a comfortable spot to begin talking.

"Now, this happened when I was young, just in my prime, really. We had lived happily, unchanged for generations. Soon, there was a pride that moved in next to our borders. We called them the Dark Fire pride, if my memory serves me right. Most of them were black in colour, and three males oversaw their pride." He told them of how they were starving, unsuccessful in hunting for themselves. Taking pity, and generally being helpful, The Ela'wadiyi helped them regain their footing, offering meals and generally being as generous as they could offer.

"Though, not everything was as it seemed. They quickly began to desire more, and as their strength increased we found ourselves disliking their habits. Killing more than needed, being more forceful than desired. We should have noticed then, but it was beyond the point of going back."

The diseases that they had been immune to were new to the Ela'wadiyi. Soon, the strong would die by the disease, and the pride was attacking whomever was left. Given no choice, other than death, they left their homelands of their ancestors, and made the treck to find a new land to call home.

"It was very tough, and many died on the trail. If they didn't die, some wandered, losing their way, or their faith in where our leader was taking them. Once we had come to this valley, it seemed that we could start over, even with the fractured families that were left. Sadly, that wasn't the end of our woes."

He told of another disease that swept through them, the Plague. He had found out that all prides in the area and beyond suffered through it. Nearly a third of their surviving members perished, and Tawa'di feared that it was the end of them. "As our leader perished, I was pulled into taking the lead, though I have always felt I was never a strong enough soul to fully lead our people." He sighed at that point, shaking his head slowly. "We were weak for many moons, and there were times I worried that more would fall sick, and no one would ever remember the pride of the Ela'wadiyi. Slowly, through acceptance of all, we allowed strangers into our ranks. Adapting to our way of life is a huge change for many, but it seemed to work. Now, it seems that almost all of our members were once strangers. But as we grow and work together, we are the Ela'wadiyi as a whole, only seperated into our family Clans for the moons that we wander."

(( I'm so, so sorry it took me this long to post, Saffy. T__T ))

He listened to Tawa'di's tale, finding himself moved by the Ela'wadiyi's perseverance, even against the many odds that had stood against them. It merely confirmed in his mind that there were no doubts that this was where he, his mate and their family belonged... They too had made it through the tests that fate had lain before them.

"We will do all that we can to make sure that the Ela'wadiyi are always remembered." A vow he intended to keep until the end of his days.
