Buka had turned and looked up just in time to see Pacha falling toward him. The pup landed on him with a thud, knocking the air out of his lungs with a squeak. Buka caught his breath back as the pup rolled off of him, and began to laugh. "That was hilarious!!" He said as he squirmed about in the mud. He'd only ever experienced bad landings like those personally, seeing them happen to someone else was a lot more funny and a lot less humiliating. "You should've seen your face!" he hopped to his feet, flapping his wings to dislodge the grass and dirt. Buka then remembered that he and Pacha were on a mission, and he quickly composed himself with a cough. "Okay sooo I'm pretty sure it's in this direction." he said, and began to trot off across the paddock. The cow Pacha had startled was watching them uneasily from the fenceline. Buka watched happily as the little crickets hopped out of his way; one of his favourite past times was chasing the crickets- but he was always worried he would accidentally squish one which would be quite horrible. He looked back over his shoulder, grinning at his new friend.

Pacha trotted off after Buka. A few dry coughs plagued him after falling. Partially because his lungs hadn't caught up with his adventuring yet, partially because he was embarrassed. He flicked his wings and tried to get some air under them as they walked, building his confidence back up by making himself feel bigger. The grass licked at his paws as they went along, tossing little grey bugs into his face. Pacha winced as the harmless gnats bounced off his face, and tried to drop and dip his head to avoid them. Distracted by his buggy friends, Pacha wasn't watching where his feet were stepping and he soon heard a loud "MRRAAAAAOOOK!" A slimy squashy feeling hit his toes and Pacha leapt into the air with a yawl. "AAAAAAH!"

Buka whirled around in shock at the strange noise and Pacha's yell, fur bristling on end. Was it some strange demon? Were they about to get eaten?? He could see Pacha looking panicked but no demon- and then he spotted the frog hopping away through the grass. He let out a huge sigh and laid down, his heart felt like it was going to burst out of his chest. Buka didn't go well with surprises. "I thought there was demon!" He exclaimed, letting out a little nervous laughter. He stood up, and sneaked over to where the frog had hopped; sniffing abot for it.

Pacha perked his ears forward. Was Buka sure that hadn't been a demon? He trotted after his adventurous friend on three legs, (he didn't want to put his slimy paw into the dirt, then it would be slimy AND dirt covered). Close behind Buka, Pacha dropped his head and started sniffing around. The grass blades smelt pleasant, clean and sweet, but soon his nose caught a nasty scent. He squinted to see better through the long thick grass. Suddenly, A cow pie popped up from behind the green blades. Pacha triumphantly stumbled over it at the last second. He turned his head around to laugh at the cow pie and its maker. Then, MMMMROAK! Pacha yelped. He found another frog. Before it could hop away, Pacha dropped onto his belly and caught it. He peeked in at it by slowly lifting one paw. "CROOOOAK!" The frog told him. "I don't think its a demon... It surely isn't colorful like Kyushu's frog though." This frog was bigger, brown and with little, almost unnoticed dapple spots of a darker brown. Pacha called for Buka. "Come look!"

Buka quickly abandoned his search and scrambled over to Pacha, peering down at the frog trapped under his paws. "You caught it!" He said, stating the obvious a little. "It looks all slimy, bluch." He poked his tongue out in distaste. The frog made a croak as if in reply. "What do the frogs in Kyushu look like?" He asked, looking back up at Pacha. He hadn't met many frogs as big as this one; usually he only ran in to tiny baby frogs, or even worse toads, which he was actually quite afraid of ever since he heard they gave you warts. He gave the frog a little bit of a prod with his paw, but quickly drew it away- it was indeed slimy.

Pacha dropped his jaw and rolled his eyes back. "Weelll..." He tried to think of a way to describe Kyushu's magnificent frogs. "They look like... Its almost as if..." He started over. "If you took a painters pallet..." Pacha shook his head and made a frustrated grunt. "Uhn, okay. Well, tropical frogs look like tropical flowers!" No, that didn't help, Buka hadn't been to Kyushu. How could he describe his homelands frogs in a manner deserving of their beauty? "AGH." Pacha took a deep breath. "The frogs in Kyushu are... like pieces of the most precious jewelry slid together like melted wax, creating the most unique colors, patterns, and designs." He nodded his head, "Right. Not that I like them or anything." Pacha stuck his tongue out at Buka and giggled.

Buka listened intently to Pacha's descriptions. "Wow, they must be really pretty." He said, grinning back at his friend. He turned his gaze to the frog they'd caught. "A lot prettier than this guy anyway." He frowned at the frog, letting it know it was clearly its fault it was so ugly. Buka then had an idea, and quickly looked back up at Pacha. "Hey, Pacha, are you going back to Kyushu?" His tail began to wag. "'Cause if you are, I could come with you! I've always wanted to visit there! It's probably a lot more exciting than this place." Buka had always been far too scared to hop aboard a boat to Kyushu by himself, for all he knew it was infested with demons. But with Pacha to show him around, surely it would be a fun adventure!

Pacha barked and started to wag his tail with Buka. "Absolutely! Then you can meet my brother, Jerro! He's kinda boring though." Pacha made a stinky face, as if Jerro could see Pacha teasing him overseas. Pacha stood up and watched their little ugly frog hop away, ribbiting with every bounce. He shook his mane and wings and looked up at Buka. "First though." he paused and paced with his front paws. "We have to go make sure we aren't missing out on any treasures in that cave of yours." Pacha made a playful low rumble. "Unless you're chicken..."

Buka looked taken aback. "I am not chicken! C'mon, see if you can keep up!" The pup sprang to his feet, and began to race off across the field toward the treeline as fast as he could. The wind rushing through his feathers always felt wonderful, and he raised his wings a little to catch the air and make his strides longer. He knew he'd be completely out of breath by the time they reached the cave, but running was fun and he was sure they'd have time to catch their breath. He quickly looked back over his shoulder, giving a playful yip back to his friend.

Pacha wiggled his butt, and leapt forward after Buka. Drool slipped out of his open, panting mouth. The side of his face was painted with spit. Pacha squinted to keep dust and grass blades the two of them were kicking up out of his eyes, and kept stretching his legs forward in a longer, and longer stride. Keeping up with Buka wasn't easy. Pacha was moving as fast as he could though, he was pretty sure his legs were moving by themselves at this point, flailing through the fields after his adventurous friend. He kept his head up, and saw what could have been a large rock face, not to far in the distance. It was either that, or a couple cows trying to make a pyramid with each other. He barked in excitement. There was no telling what they might find in the cave. Treasure, demons, maybe even more Kuniku!

Buka saw it approaching too, the large cliff face that rose up out of the forest. They quickly broke into the treeline, leaves kicking up at their feet and the occasional sharp twig jabbing in Buka's side, making him slow his pace and tread more carefully. He scanned around searching for the cave, "I'm sure it's here somewhere..." He muttered. He walked along the cliffline a little way, and as he turned a corner there was the cave, a gaping hole in the side of the rock like a demon's mouth. He could smell the stale air filtering out of it. "Here it is!" He called back to his friend, trying to keep his voice brave and steady. Even during the day the inside of the cave looked awfully dark.

Pacha slowed with Buka, eventually coming to a stand still at the mouth of the cave. The mountains tall grey stone towered over them. Pacha tilted his head back, looking up the great hill. He couldn't see the top. "Whoa." The cold wall had a bitter breeze flowing down it at all times. He stayed behind Buka, turning up leaves with his nose. His sniffing was slow and uneasy. The wind made a mellow howling nose and scared Pacha a few steps backwards. He shook his mane and tried to stiffen his ears, forcing confident into his veins. "I'll be right behind ya." Pacha nervously giggled and continued to hide behind Buka.

Buka flattened his ears and held his wings tight to his body. He didn't mean to, but he instinctively crouched lower to the ground- ready to take flight at the sign of danger. "O-okay, I guess I'll go first.." He felt silly being so afraid, it was only a cave and just because it was dark and smelly didn't mean there was a monster inside. He slowly stepped toward the entrance, the ground beneath his feet becoming muddy and quickly giving way to slimey rock. The gloom loomed before him and he could hear the drips of water falling to the ground from stalactites on the ceiling. He checked behind himself, making sure his friend was still nearby. "It's all slimey..." He muttered; the floor was on a steady decline downwards and the wet surface made him nervous he'd slip and tumble down. He held out his wings so he could slow himself if so. Peering down into the cave he couldn't see much at all, it was too dark down there. "What do you think's down there?" He asked Pacha, turning his head back to look at him.

Pacha stuck out his tongue after his first few steps into the cave. It reminded him of that frog he had stepped on in the field. "Probably frogs." He said in a deep, serious voice. His eyes tried to penetrate the darkness; he could hardly see Buka. Half a second later, Pacha burst out in high pitched giggles. "How much would that suck? A cave full of frogs. I'm being seriously." He closed his eyes and threw his head side to side, as if trying to shake the idea out of him. The cave ceiling was high enough for a really, really big frog. Pacha tried to lower his nose to sniff the algae, but his legs slipped forward. Now the slimy stuff was all over his chest, grouping his mane hair together in funny little triangles. "Look, I'm spikey!" He shouted.

Buka tried to remember where he was and be serious, but the idea of a cave full of frogs made him burst into a fit of laughter. As he did so he lost his balance and slipped, landing on his belly still giggling away. He tried to catch his breath back. "A-a cave full of frogs??" He laughed. It didn't seem that far fetched- this place was slimey enough to be a huge frog. "Hey!" he said, pulling himself back onto his feet. "Maybe the god of frogs lives down there!" He made himself laugh again, and when Pacha pointed out his spikey mane he began to laugh even harder. He'd quite forgotten they were in a dark and foreboding cave. heehee 8D
