It was difficult for Chane to keep up. He pushed himself though, and for now managed was managing to keep up with Ylva. Catching the calf however was a different thing. By the time the calf slowed down enough for him he'd already be tired out. It was up to the hyena to take down the calf and fast. Until then he was little more then a big beast to help scare off mom.

The lion turned out to be little help in hunting. If Ylva hadn't been running out of a calf she'd have taken the time to yell at the lion for being so out of shape. 'He was human raised he was human raised' kept repeating through her mind.
It was up to her now though. Taking a few breaths the Hyena sped up and caught the calf by the back leg, biting down hard and taking the wee thing down.
It looked up wild eyed and its legs flailed as it tried to get back up but the hyena was already hovering over its neck.
Crunch.
The calf lay dead. A limb twitched here and there, but the thing was dead, or dying. A small pool of dark blood gurgled from the open wound in its neck. Ylva's maw was dripping with the dark fluid.
She looked back at the lion and frowned.

Chane was just far enough back to see all of the kill, but close enough to see all the gory detail. Gods was he hungry. He was breathing heavily as he walked the last few steps to the corpse and looked up at Ylva with a smile.
When he caught her gaze his ears went flat back on his skull and he sunk down into the grass. What had he done now?

Ylva wanted to yell at him so bad , but she knew he was human raised. She knew what that meant but grrrrrr.
"Come on over here and stop looking so worthless," She grumped looking at the calf. "Come on you, I don't usually give the first dibs to others.... get your a** over here and eat."
She scooted over so that chane would have a spot to dig in.

That left him mildly confused, but if there was one thing he'd learn out here it was to obey the moody female types. Especially when doing so played in his favor.
He was well aware, though, that his attempts to learn had gone horribly wrong. He just wasn't sure how. Right at this moment, he wasn't sure asking was a good idea.
Doing his best not too seem too sulky he limped over to the corpse, laying down before tearing in.

Ylva turned her back to the lion and let him have his full. It was not wise to keep eat and forget others that may have smelt the blood spilled. That kind of naive thinking would surely get your kill taken from you and possibly get you hurt in the process.
So Ylva sat and let the thin lion eat. He really needed to work on his hunting skills if he was gonna survive.
The hyena sighed and shook her head. This lion reminded her a little of Asa, only not broken. Sigh. That was the last thing she needed right now, another creature to play baby sitter with.

Chane was done fairly quickly. As he moved away from the corpse it was plain to see that he'd eaten a mere pittance. He was full though and now he was more concerned about other things. Like why Ylva hadn't touched the kill.
"What are you doing?" he said as he sat down next to the hyena.

Ylva tilted her head at Chane. He had finished already?
"Guarding the kill? Soo..... that .. no one else takes it ?" She blinked over at the kill and back at Chane.
"Well we better get a move on I suppose. Find some where to spend the night. Tomorrow I want to take you to meet someone." The hyena got up and grabbed the kills leg letting the gutted thing drag behind her.
She could eat later. Sides, most of this was for Asa any how.
