Rivener chuckled softly to himself. Varun was a funny guy. He seemed so... what's the word-... puffed up. Like a little pup that thought himself Alpha Dog or something. Rivener found it so entertaining. Although, was Varun REALLY like that? Hm... Riv shrugged inwardly. No matter, as long as Varun didn't try to attack Riv or anything like that.
When Varun magnanimously offered for Rivener to lead him to a photo store, the Scorpion nodded and grinned, pocketing the camera and floating out of the old amusement park. Once out on the sidewalk, it was very easy to spot the bright neon sign: Kodak Store. "There it is!" Riv said, pointing at the shop in question. "C'mon, I'll show you how to work the machine so that you can do it yourself in the future. You'll have to get a camera first, of course, but if you ask for one maybe your Guardian can get it for you."
Rivener was rather energetically floating towards the shop, pushing the door open and ignoring the shopkeeper's stunned expression at seeing a pair of floating half-bodies. Straight for the Do-It-Yourself kiosk went the Sigel, waiting until Varun was by his side before showing every step. He fished out the camera and showed it, pointing at the small memory card.
"Every camera has a little stick like this. You take it out of here," Riv pulled it out of the camera and showed it, then carefully slid the thing into the machine. "Then you put it in the machine, see? That big spinning thing on the screen means it's loading up all your pictures, aaaaand- Voila! All the pictures we took are on the screen now. See? You can look through them with the arrows, and pick which one you want to print. So go ahead, pick one!" Riv moved out of the way, letting Varun operate the controls if he so wished. "Push here or here to look at other pictures, and push here to pick the one you want." One long clawed finger pointed out the controls.

Technology, if nothing else, always brought Varun brought down to size. It went completely over the Frei's head every time. Of course, his guardian was pretty technology-stunted as far as the times and ages went, so that didn't help him there. The redhead rubbed his nose and frowned thoughtfully, glancing between Riviner and the machine as the tried to process all the information. He hesitated, and slowly floated forward
Squinting, he leaned forward and touched an image, jerking his hand back as though he'd been stung when the screen changed to enlarge the photo he'd selected. Licking his lips, he tried to decipher the words on the screen. 'Yes' and... 'no'. "...yes," the Raevan murmured quietly, glancing at Riveiner once before the tapped the green button. The screen changed again, filled with words that the young Frei only half recognized. He flicked his wings and then-
What was that!?
The printer started to grind and click, producing the photo slowly. Completely foreign to Varun, the Leviathan splayed his wings and fins, quivering quietly as he floated behind Riviner.
"...uh. Growly 'chine?" He frowned and gave the kiosk a suspicious look. "...supposed to...is...yes, no? What?"

Rivener chuckled as Varun selected pretty much the first photo on file. Thankfully it was one of the ones the Leviathan was IN, so Varun wouldn't be disappointed. When the frei clicked "yes" and the machine began its work, Varun seemed to take offense and flared his wings, hiding behind Riv who chuckled lightly, trying not to laugh outright lest HE offend the proud frei too.
"Yes, it's supposed to, Varun. That's the sound it makes when it's making the picture go on paper. It'll be done soon."
As a matter of fact, as he said this a small "bing!" chimed out, and the picture in question slipped into the pick-up slot. Rivener bent down and retrieved it, showing it to the other Raevan. "See? This is the picture you chose! Want to do another? But just one more, I don't have the money for lots extra."

Varun flicked his wings, eying Rivener before giving the machine one last, suspicious glance. Satisfied with the explanation, he folded his wings against his back and took the photo the Sigel offered delicately. His examination was brief; he was in the photo, after all, and therefore, it was very good. Given, the scorpion's talent may have had something to do with the fact it came out so well, but Varun's pride would have liked to think he had a large part in that.
"...yes," he replied, barely looking up from the photo. It was the same thing on Rivener's camera! Fascinating.
He floated forward, bobbing every so slightly as he selected another photo he was clearly visible in. Having gone through the paces once already, Varun made quick work of the kiosk and even growled back the second time it felt the need to scare him. Sliding the picture from the pick-up slot as Rivener had done the time before, Varun outright grinned.
"Fascinating," he purred, pleased to have the excuse to use one of his newer words. "Paper Varun. Brighter than the dark." He shifted, holding Rivener's gaze steadily for a moment. "Thank you?"
The statement came out more like a question, Varun had never used those words together before, much to Kinsey's insistence otherwise.
...Kinsey!
"...should go, probably, home. Gets late."
Alas!

Rivener watched Varun go to the machine and pick a new photograph to print, the frei standing his ground this time and seeing the process through completely on his own from choosing to printing to retrieving the photo from the slot. How fast Varun learned. Riv grinned, feeling rather proud. As though he'd been solely responsible for teaching the sunset-colored Raevan something amazing.
Riv chuckled softly and nodded at the frei's words. "Yes, brighter. And you're welcome, Varun." The younger man's suggestion that they should go home now made Rivener sigh and look outside at the dying light... Yeah, it was about time they headed home. "You're right, Varun. We should go. It was very nice to run into you, I hope you had fun. I know I did! ...Here, I'll walk you out."
The Sigel floated out to the sidewalk with his friend, smiling and making sure the younger one knew to keep the pictures from floating away on the wind. With a wave, Rivener turned and began heading home, grinning.
