A hawk flew overhead, landing lightly upon a cloaked and masked ranger that was wandering the streets of her city in Mereth. Her brown eyes watched the people move past in their daily lives. Good. Nothing wrong here. Leena thought to herself, the hood of her cloak hiding her eyes. Giving a stretch, she shifted how the two swords criss-crossing on her back lay, the two at her hip clacking together as she then turned to move on. So far things were peaceful, but she knew that it would change. Stroking the feathers of the hawk on her shoulder, she glanced about, adjusting the hood to her cloak. Underneath it, she was wearing her normal gear when she was outside the palace.

Brushing her white hair from her eyes, she was glad that no one seemed to recognize her per normal.. The sleeves to her robe fluttered as she walked, heading to the bar at this point to see what news people carried besides that which she heard in the palace. And to simply see what her people were saying about her. The bartender looked up and simply nodded to her, allowed to keep her merlin hawk with her on her shoulder. Sitting down, she placed a couple of coins down, receiving her usual drink without words. "And some meat for him too please." She murmured, receiving a plate for her hawk who immediately began to dig in. It was a good thing she had the shadows left from her hood to hide her face as she had to lower her mask a bit to sip at the mixture.

Amaya shrugged, looking over to Tuin. "I'm cool with it, you?" She asked as she watched her dragon friend. He snorted, a puff of smoke rising from his nostrils. The elven princess laughed, patting Tuin's side. "He's cool with it too." She told Gwen.

Gwen laughed, pausing when Tyri reached them and loosening the saddle on her mare. She'd walk with Amaya and Tuin for the moment and give the mare the rest she needed. She didn't show it, but they'd ridden hard to get all the way here so quickly. "Where to first then?" she asked.

Kai made her way through the town, not drawing many glances. They were used to her, by now, and her strangeness. Her skirt swirled around her legs as she walked, the dark color offset by the bright blouse. She wore no shoes and a red ribbon attempted to hold back her mess of hair, though strands had been escaping all day and now fell about her face. She walked calmly up the steps to the library, not pausing to let her eyes adjust to the dark. She could see well enough anyway. She paused and knelt down to scoop up the ferret, stroking it's fur gently to sooth it. If it objected to being held she'd put it back down, but most animals took to her quickly.

A small dragon, about the size of a cat, went into the bar and climbed onto the stool beside Leena. Ri chirped softly to get the attention of the barkeep, nosing a coin that was now on the bar. A bowl of milk was set before her and she lapped at it for a moment before looking to Leena curiously, not sure what the princess wanted but knowing that Kai had sent her to Leena.

Leena glanced down to the dragon that was next to her, smirking as she knew who it was from. She quickly finished her drink so she could lift up her mask, casually glancing about to see who was there that day. Oh, the normals. No one really unusual. That was good. Sighing lightly, she felt a fluttering at her shoulder, watching as the hawk had finished his food and was telling her that he was going, nodding to him once as he flew away. Straightening up, she offered an arm for the dragon to join her, not sure where Kai would be at this point in the day.

Ri hopped lightly onto Leena's arm, climbing up and curling around her shoulders. "Library." she told her telepathically. When she wanted to she could speak telepathically, she just rarely chose to. She didn't have to in order to speak with Kai, as they were bound in a way that they had been able to communicate before Ri had learned how to speak telepathically. But it was sometimes easier just to speak in her chirps, and it was usually understood fairly well.

Leena heard Ri and smiled, that was one place to find her. "Thanks Ri." She said softly, keeping her voice low and weaving a bit of magic to alter her voice. One couldn't be too careful nowadays. Thankfully the library wasn't too far, lowering her hood when she stepped inside, brushing a few long strands from her eyes. Yes, to help with her disguise, she lengthened her hair and made it more of a silvery white as opposed to it's normal snow color. She nodded to the librarian, spotting Kai rather quickly. Walking up to her, she kept it casual, looking through the volumes that were there. Most were spell books that she had looked through before when she was younger, smiling softly at the memories. "How are things Kai? Have you found anything new on the possibilities?" She knew Kai would understand what she meant, to anyone else it would sound odd but then again Kai was an odd person so it was probably taken at face value. In reality, she was wondering if Kai had found any new info on the possibility that the war was going to happen again.

"Well, we have to travel to Mereth first. Apparently Amaryllis knows someone there who maybe be able to help us." Amaya told Gwen as she began walking.

Aldon the ferret squirmed very slightly at Kai's touch. He obviously hadn't expected to be scooped up by a stranger. The lady's stroking was pretty soothing, so he reluctantly made himself still to enjoy the strokes, his whiskers twitching every now and then as if sensing for something.

---

As the librarian and Dais conversed... though it was mostly the elderly librarian and not Dais who spoke, Kai sauntered into the quaint stronghold of knowledge, holding his ferret. Kai had come to the library before, and she was easily noticeable. Despite laying low, Dais had made sure to make careful observations and notes on everyone around him. It was instinct.

Kai was soon joined by another hooded woman, who nodded to Dais and the elder librarian. The librarian greeted the woman, and Dais nodded, returning to shelving his books, but keeping his ears open. Aldon seemed to be enjoying himself and very well could be Dais's ears but Dais just had a feeling that he might be interested in the material first hand.

Kai looked up when Leena spoke, having already been told by her dragon that they were on their way. She paused, shaking her head. "I don't know. Maybe, maybe not. The Elves are getting riled up over something, but aren't showing it. Maybe their princess simply ran away. But I don't know about Them. I can't see that far." she said quietly, gently shifting her hold on the ferret to take a book from a shelf and hold that as well, while still petting the creature. "Oh, is your mother's ranger is coming back. Maybe with a friend this time?" she asked, smiling faintly to show that she didn't intend it as a question. She knew Gwen was coming, and with Amaya in tow. Or was it the other way around?...

Gwen nodded. "Did she by any chance saw who it was?" she asked, wondering if she'd have a chance to see the queen again. If for no other reason than to thank her again, but she had grown quite fond of the woman while she'd been there.

Leena listened to her answer, pulling one history book off the shelf to look through it, her hair forming a wall that she could peer out of. She mostly was checking to see who was around, removing her cloak finally, allowing it to fade into the shadows, leaving the white robe distinct against the dark. But then again, so were her four swords. At the information of her mother's ranger her hand paused in flipping a page, closing the book then. She was quiet for a moment before putting the book back. "I see. I thought something felt strange upon the air. But if she's coming back, there must be something. Especially with such company." She murmured, hearing a fluttering of wings and the librarians upset voice.

Her hawk then perched on her shoulder, receiving a small petting. "I'm sorry, he comes and goes where he will." She spoke to try to soothe the elderly librarian, Vadasz giving a rather unhelpful soft screech which got him a very light tap to the beak. "He won't move I promise." She then ducked back behind the shelves again, giving her hawk a look before her eyes returned to Kai. "So who is your small friend hm?" She meant the ferret in her hand, wondering if it was another soul that Kai had found and taken to. Or if it was someone elses perhaps. She remembered seeing it before with the assistant, or at least she believed she did, glancing to him out of the corner of her eye as she shifted how she stood.

Kai nodded. "They're starting another story like every other epic tale of good against evil. Gather a companion from every place, all the aid that can be found, then strike out against the evil foe to try again what has always failed before." she said softly, her voice almost sing-song-y. She had spun around when she finished her first sentance, after that meeting Leena's gaze for a moment before looking away again, swaying lightly to music only she could hear. She stopped and turned back to Leena when asked about the ferret. "Him? I found him and saved him from being swept outside. A rather unpleasant fate, particularly for one so small. And the bristles on a broom are rather harsh and scratchy." she said conversationally, nodding in the appropriate places.

Leena grimaced beneath the mask that hid the bottom of her face from about half way up her nose, just beneath her eyes. So it is happening again... The thought made her inwardly sigh, able to discern Kai's meaning having been around her so long. Her brown eyes met Kai's with a small nod, glancing down to the ferret again, soothing her hawk since he seemed agitated. "That doesn't seem pleasant at all. Well, it's a good thing you did hm? It would be bad if someone tried swatting away Vadasz. You've seen what happens Kai." She smirked though it wasn't like anyone could see, her sleeve fluttering as she moved to flip through another spell book.

That drew a laugh, and Kai seemed completely oblivious to the glare from the librarian she recieved. "Never good at all. Not unless being stalked by a hawk is good. Never very much fun though either." she said, gracefully spinning on her heel to go to the assistant, offering the ferret to him. "He is yours?" she asked, though it was more of a statement than a question.

Ri reguarded Vadasz curiously. "You're bothered?" she asked. She knew what the hawk was, and was quite fond of him.

So, the forces of "good" were at it again, attempting to gather to defeat Dais's former king. Who knew how successful these new challengers would be? For the length of Dais's life, Dais had made some observations that the "good" needed to learn to be more secretive. None of this was really new news at all.

Hearing that Aldon had been reckless made Dais shake his head, one of the rare times that he slipped and showed that he had heard the conversation. There was no need to thank Kai. Aldon and Dais had a sort of understanding. Aldon was pretty skilled at getting out of dire situations, but when danger befel either of them, they would aid each other.

..there was also the matter of the librarian finding out why the ferret hung out at the library often... and that they were friends....

((Insert edit: I just saw thy's post

Edit begin smile )

Kai blew everything out of the water when she offered Aldon to him. He couldn't simply flat out lie. Dais smiled slightly taking Aldon onto his arm and receiving a glare from the librarian. "A companion in the library," the assistant said.

Leena chuckled, noticing the glare that they received, but paid no real heed to it. "Not really no. Such a vicious temper he has." She gave Vadasz a look and he seemed to puff out his chest more which made her laugh lightly, stroking his feathers. She stepped out after Kai, watching her give the ferret back to the assistant, her brown eyes observing as always. She frowned when Talia suddenly stepped out from behind another bookshelf, glancing to the two before heading over to her. "What is it?" She asked softly, her voice returning to how it normally sounded.

"I'm sure you know that Gwen and Amaya are coming. Did you wish to send out a team to watch over them as they head over?" Talia kept her voice almost impossible to hear except for Leena.

That made her pause to think, nodding once as she glanced about before lowering her mask, pulling a bottle from a pouch at her belt. Pulling off the cork, she blew into it softly, quickly replacing the top and lifting her mask to hide her face hoping no one saw. "Here, unleash these once you are out in the air. They will help. Send three to them, they will not be noticed I don't think. And if they are, I know Gwen will realize who they are. Thank you Talia." She muttered, glancing to the three shapes that were swirling now in the bottle. It was a spirit that was rather difficult to kill and would obey one command from her. Gotta remember to find another. She made a mental note, turning to walk back to where she had been standing, again hoping no one noticed how Talia had bowed before seeming to become all blurry and fade away. She was thinking when she should do it since most didn't like her choice of speciality. Maybe I should try something else... It was one issue to have people disconcerted by your choice of speciality magic, it was another when you needed everyone to be on your side despite everything.

Vadasz blinked at suddenly being addressed, remembering that of course Ri knew what he was. "After a fashion. Felt like the ferret was listening was all. Or that somebody was in any case." He answered, his head seeming to swivel around a bit, ruffling his feathers
