Cloud looked down at the ground and faintly smiled as Zack messed up his hair. Usually he would frown and fix it but this time he just left it the way it was. He was truly grateful to have a friend like Zack... That after so many years and all the changes to himself, Zack never changed and could still bring a smile to his face and warmth to his heart.
Returning his gaze to the other he nodded in agreement, "...Yeah.", was all the wolf spirit said.

Zack smiled warmly and soon patted his friends' back. Letting go of Cloud, he shifted around and returned to his former position, sitting down next to his friend at they overlooked the garden.
"Maybe you don't have to return to your old self, Cloud. We all have to grow one day. But.. at least, it would be nice to see you smile." He said and nodded out towards the view of the garden. Zack thought about these words carefully, considering that Cloud has been through too much to be the same as before. But perhaps it was better that way, otherwise Cloud would remain stagnant. That's why Cloud became the great hero he is now and Zack smiled about this.
"It would be really nice to see you smile again.."

Cloud did the same, looking out at the garden and the spirits that wandered about their daily lives. "...I guess only time will tell..." He replied. Although things seemed to be running smoothly, he feared that he had changed too greatly and Zack within time would grow distant from him. That was his biggest fear and just the thought of it made him sullen.
"You know, it would be nice to smile again... Life might not be as bitter..." He mused as a small smile tugged at his lips but didn't win against the endless programed frown on his face.

Zack slightly chucked in agreement with Cloud's last statements.
"Mhm. Life is definitely not as bitter; I can tell you that much~" he added. He turned around to look at Cloud for a few moments before returning his gaze back to the garden and its inhabitants. He felt that Cloud was still struggling with something, but within time, that problem will be resolved too. For now, at least some progress was made. Some tears were shed. And some smiles slightly surfaced from it all.
After looking over the same garden scene for a while, Zack laid down on his back and looked up at the sky. He faintly wonder if this place had a heavens too...
"Hey Cloud, why don't you lay down for a bit? Maybe a change of view is good too.." He smiled.

Looking down at Zack he shrugged and figured it wouldn't hurt to join him. Laying back against the grassy hill top, Cloud stared at the sky and watched the various shaped clouds race by. "...Don't tell me..." He started, trying his hardest to brighten their discussion, "...You're going to start telling me what each cloud looks like... right?"

Zack laughed at his friends comments. To be honest, he wasn't thinking about that at the moment. Looking at the bright blue sky before him, he faintly wondered if one day he'll find those one-winged angels ever again. He remembered the last time he saw a sky so clear like this as he pleaded to it. He wanted wings...
Perhaps he was the one that needed some cheering up at the moment.
"Hehehe. No~ But now that you mentioned it, I say that's a pretty good idea, Cloud. So then, what is it that you see up there in the sky...?"

Cloud sensed something off with his friend but decided to not pry on it. He knew that he wasn't the only one who had lost something or someone very important to him. Zack had lost Angeal before he died... And Cloud could only imagine how that was for Zack... Even though he suffered the same as his friend did, circumstances were different... at least he believed so.
"Ah..." he paused and gazed up into the sky, not sure if he should try to be silly or not. But before he knew it, his reply slipped from his lips, "...New beginnings... opportunity and hope."
He didn't catch himself in time and blushed faintly in embarrassment. "Ah... I mean..." he trailed off scratching his head slightly.

"Hmm?" was the only sound that escaped Zack's lips for a moment as he turned over to Cloud and smiled warmly. New beginnings. Hope. That sounded pretty good to him.
"Hehe.." Zack softly chuckled to himself, and he looked up at the bright blue sky. Leave it to Cloud to think of things like that, but to be honest it looked like that was the best response Cloud could have made.
"You know what, Cloud? I see that too..." he smiled and closed his eyes. Taking a deep breath to relax himself, he opened his eyes to a brighter future with Cloud.
"And also an ice cream cone shaped cloud too~ Yummy~" ...A future that will come to them one step at a time.

Cloud laid there and felt a smile tug at his lips. He stifled a chuckle at Zack's comment, seeing as how it went from serious to completely child-like in a moment's notice. Soon the chuckle escape and he laughed a bit. "...Only you Zack... Only you."
Gazing over at his friend, he smiled warmly. Finally, a step in the right direction...

He couldn't help but laugh. Zack knew he had his moments when he needed to be serious; there were many moments like that in his life. After all, once he became First Class, Zack knew what words like responsibility, honesty, and honor meant. And he knew that Cloud had gotten that experience throughout his journey as well.
But joking around here and there didn't hurt either. Especially not if it makes a smile or a laugh appear once in a while.
"Hehe, sorry about that. But well, you know me~" he chuckled a bit more and turned around to face Cloud, looking back at him and noticed the smile that tugged on the other's lips.

Cloud sighed happily for a moment and looked up at the sky once more. "I know... It's nice to see that you didn't change that much, Zack..." He meant that in a good manner. He wouldn't know what to do if his friend was no longer the person he thought he was... He needed that silliness that Zack provided. In fact it was something that drew Cloud to him more.
"...Ah, well... Let me try to see if I can spot anything..." he fell silent as he studied the clouds, seeing various shapes but nothing that made sense. Soon though he found one and blinked. "A heart?"

Zack nodded as he looked up at the sky. It was true. Zack did change in the course of his career in ShinRa, but that more like growing up or maturing. Everyone matures in their lifetime; by how much is a different question. However, he knew he couldn't be so serious all the time, something that Cloud was usually good at. He must admit, Cloud was pretty quiet back in their soldier days too; they seemed to complimented each other.
"Huh..? A heart you say?" Zack thought that Cloud was just kidding about it, but as he looked around at the different shapes, he saw it too.
"Yeah.. you're right. That is a heart.. Hehe." How odd. It was shaped so neatly that both of them could spot it.

Cloud stared at the heart for a good while until it began to morph into some other unrecognizable shape. "Strange, isn't it?" He look onto other clouds trying to find some more shapes. "I wonder if they have meanings... Clouds and their shapes, I mean."
It was a silly question but anything could be possible in life... At least it seemed that way. Nature worked in mysterious ways and often gave clues to things in ones life if one would heed the signs. But a heart so near perfectly shaped? It puzzled him and thus brought the question to life.

"Who knows..." was simply what Zack replied to Cloud's musing. He looked up and didn't find any more signs or shapes out there on the sky. Zack admitted that he did believe in things like nature giving warnings and signs to those who look for it. Why, he would do the same to Cloud whenever or however had could as a way to guide his comrade in life.
"I think they do, Cloud. But.. I wonder what the heart would mean... to us." Zack faintly wondered a bit more but stopped soon after.

Cloud thought about it for a moment could come up with a few answers but remained puzzled at which it could be. The most seemingly ridiculous one was romance, but... that would be silly... Right? Or maybe not... He didn't know. He decided to go with a safer answer. "Maybe... it just means we... care about each other...?"
He thought more on it. That sounded right. After all these years they were still friends... Still worrying about each other.
