It was a good thing Vincent was focused on his feet, he didn't see her reaction. Eventually he looked up. "But you are pretty." He said, with a slight frown. "Just because your parents are who they are.. That doesn't make you any less beautiful than you are."
A bit ironic, to still be crushing on someone who'd recently beaten you to a pulp, but.. Maybe Vinny saw more than just that. Maybe he was having trouble deciding who was a friend, and who was more than that.

'Zuba shook her head. "Not my parents....parents are awesome. I'm not." she said, crossing her arms stubbornly. "'M not pretty, or beautiful. 'M far from." She paused a moment. "Not pretty like you or others." she added for emphasis.

"Your mother is envy, that means that no matter how beautiful you are, you're going to be jealous of someone." Vinny said, shaking his head. "Humility is our father. So.. We can't be proud of who we are, even if we are as good as everyone says we are. You know, 'Zuba? It seems like we're being proud by calling them liars. I think we just can't see it."

'Zuba frowned. "Not beautiful." she said, crossing her arms. "And not jealous." That right there was an outright lie, but it wasn't like she voiced her every envious thought, so it was the same as not having them, right? "And not calling them liars....they just biased." she said, looking at her feet. Someone felt like being contrary, didn't they?

"Then I'm biased too," Vinny said with something that might have been vanity if humilty hadn't been his father. "I'm biased, because I think you're beautiful. One of the most beautiful people I've ever met. It's why I was jealous of Adhara, you know. It's why I was mean and grumbling."
He paused, and put a hand on her shoulder. "But I promise, I'll never say anything bad about her again. As long as she makes you happy. But if she ever hurts you... I'm allowed to hurt her back, alright?" He had full intentions of keeping that, too. No one was allowed to hurt 'Zuba. See... Even though she'd hurt Vinny pretty badly, even though he was still slightly afraid of her...
He loved her.
