Meleager's tails twitched as Diego spoke; gods this mind-reading thing would take some getting used to. It was rather disconcerting to be given reassurances about things you hadn't actually mentioned. Still, it was useful he supposed, or could be in the future - the Council would certainly be pleased about this! For now, however, it wasn't necessary to let the reason for Diego's presence become common knowledge. If he did, the would-be Seer would be besieged with curious Hellenes, and that would not help him at all.
There was just one more warning before he let the Jala go; but that could wait a moment. The herdleader beckoned over one of the scouts that had brought Diego in. The fellow looked almost smug - doubtless he thought he was being called to escort the stranger from their lands. Meleager sighed, and spoke coolly. "This is Diego. He is now a guest of the Hellenes. You will treat him with respect, and guide him to the forests where he will be staying, then report back to me. Understand?"
The stallion nodded, although he looked somewhat bemused, and stepped back to wait until the herdleader had finished his business. Satisfied that he would obey, Meleager turned back to Diego and smiled. "You seem to be a good Nequus; I wish you luck in your... quest, but I must warn you - our agreement depends upon its success." There was no point in allying with a Seer who turned out to be mad after all.

Diego nodded to Meleager, ignoring the underling for the time being. "Of course. I would not expect you to trade something for nothing. You need not fear though, herdleader Meleager " the golden stallion smiled an utterly self assured smile that once again contrasted starkly with his disheveled appearance, "I shall succeed." That was what he did, against any odds, and rival, and obstacle. He was too smart and too determined to give in to this, especially now he knew what it was. Magic, magic that let him see into the minds of others. Gods, what would he have done with this when he had been so cold and cruel? What would he do with it now for that matter? He supposed only time would tell.
"It is time I left now Meleager hallah," Diego said with another smile, choosing to behave respectfully in the presence of the Reya's subordinates. "Once I have completed my quest, I shall return to speak with you again. Good fortune until then." Good fortune indeed, he didn't want any ill to befall the leader of his new allies after all. Bowing his head briefly to the dappled Reya, Diego turned aside and waited for his guide to set off beside him. Magic. Mind reading. Seer magic. It was almost too good to be true. Almost.

...hallah? That was new. But rather pleasing, Meleager thought. Clearly Diego had gained some sense of respect for him. He hoped that was a good sign; it certainly seemed to him that this alliance would turn out well. Diego sounded confident that his newfound talent would continue to grow and that he would learn to use it, or control it, or whatever it was he was actually doing - anyway, he seemed confident.
He would ask the scouts to keep an eye on the golden Jala, and maybe send Castor to meet him at some point as well... He thought the two would get on, as long as Castor understood the reasons why Diego might act a little oddly. He hoped so, at least. This was quite a coup for him, and the dappled herdleader was actually a little excited.
