Only for the brave? How brave was she, really? She was the smallest of lionesses and he was fairly certain that she had hardly seen anything in her short life worth being afraid of.
Then again he wasn't very brave either. He'd done what he had to do. That's all...
"Where are these lizards?" he hadn't seen any since he arrived that's for sure. "Why are they so dangerous?"
Okay. Maybe he was about to make a fool of himself but he didn't care. It was better not to be caught off guard.

Tahki took a sweat on her haunches and eyed the male for a long while. Every now and then she made a hmmmmm sound like she was thinking.
"The lizards are all around us," She said finally, "They hide until they are READY TO ATTACK!" With the last sentence, Tahki had jumped up and done an odd serval like pounce in the air. She took her seat again and eyed him.
"Lizards are dangerous because they feed off of lions souls. If you see one you need to crunch its head off before it tries to eat your soul."
And then came the laughter. Honestly, Tahki at this point was just trying to make a point WHY she was so brave. Theatrics helped.

She'd been watching him quietly for so long that when she jumped he flinched, taking the smallest of steps back. Whether or not she was telling the truth she was certainly a little fireball.
The real question was, is she telling the truth? He didn't think she'd lie about something like this...
"So..." he settled back down, pretending she hadn't startled him. "What's a... soul? And why do they want to eat it?"

" A souls like ... or ..ummmm. Honestly Im not really sure," The lion blinked. Where had she heard that word before? What was a soul again, "I think its something that we need though. Like our eyes and our noses. But I dont know what it is."
The lion looked down at her paws. It looked as if she was having a serious think about it. What the crap was a soul again? She heard the word before.. They were important?
"Maybe souls another word for the thing that goes boom boom in our chest. If I was a lizard I d eat that. Thats my favorite part of the kill." Tahki gave Chane a nod.

As the cub spoke, and even when she fell silent, he thought carefully. At first he was confused. A soul was like your nose? Why would lizards want your nose? His eyes made more sense in a way. Vision was more vital then smell and it was conceivable that the body part that alowed vision would thereby be considered more valuable. But no neither of those?
He looked up at her. When she mentioned the beating thing inside her chest he nodded, pressing his weak paw to his own chest. Often, it seemed, when his humans had been concerned for him they'd pressed their hands against his chest and felt for that pulse.
"So... a soul's like your heart... How big are these lizards if they can eat the heart of a lion?"

Tahki frowned as she stared at him with an intense look. "Same small size as every other lizard around here. Size doesn't seem to matter. I have a theory they crawl down your throat when you sleep and eat a little bit here and there then take over the lions body from the coreeeeee."
Tahki shifted her eyes from here to there, "Terrifying no?"

Was there really a creature that could do that? He shuddered at the thought.
"A theory's like an idea, right? Have you really seen them do it?" Or even known someone who'd been possessed in this way. If it was true though, he glanced around, maybe he should get going. The swamp was a strange enough environment already without such an alien threat lurking in the mud.

" I seen them, but never in action, " Her eyes went from side to side in a sneaky fashion, "But I'd never want give them the chance. Which is why I like to strike them down ." The 'warrior' puffed out her chest.
Clearly this cub was one to spin tall tales .
"You still want to cross the swamp lands now?" She tilted her head at Chane with a proud smile on her maw.

"I'm not sure I was ever too keen on crossing it to begin with..." Chane admitted. He was wandering, hunting, nothing more. The Savannah was defiantly more familiar to him. Easier to find his way around, to hunt... and his feet didn't constantly sink into the mud.
Then again, it may be worth it, "Do you know what lays on the other side?"

Tahki shook her head, "I've never crossed the swamp that far. Im not sure I'm ready to yet," She looked up at him with her bright pink eyes and smiled, "If you want to, you can though. Up to you really," The little lioness gave a long cat stretch and was on her paws again circling the new fun lion.
"I'd love to stay and chat but I must be getting home now. Be careful in the swamp and watch out for things that might eat you. " She rubbed up against Chane's arm and darted away threw the brush leaving the rather confused lion in her dust.
An odd lioness could be an understatement when trying to describe Tahki.

Chane shook his head, trying to convince himself that the rather odd encounter hadn't been a dream. It sure felt like one.
He turned his back on the mud puddle and started back the way he'd came. A lizard scurried across his path and he paused, looking after it and wondering if it could possibly be one of the one's she'd been talking about.
Maybe it was? He was sure he'd never really know.
